TLP workstation thread

Inspired by this IJBM.

I actually think a stickied YKTTW pimping thread would be a good idea. It would let people direct attention to their own YKTTWs without having to spam bump for updates and such. Plus it would act as another way to get people to notice and contribute to a YKTTW.

Ideally I think each new entry would have it's own post with a link to the relevant YKTTW. Then a big consolidation post on the first page would list all of the ones in the thread so far, crossing them off as they get launched.

Or this might be a silly and pointless idea. Thoughts?

Procedure for getting a YKTTW added to the master worklist. Just post a link and a short explanation about it at the end of the thread and PM me. I will add it to the master list on the first page as soon as possible. PM once it gets launched(or scrapped) so I can cross it off the list too.

• Rising City, a trope about cities that tend to expand vertically.
• I Never Told You My Name, a trope used to cast suspicion on an otherwise unremarkable character by having them know information they should not— specifically, the name of the person they seemed to have just met for the first time. - Launched
• Hints Are For Losers - The game mocks you for trying to ask for help - Launched
• Rock Paper Scissors System - Supertrope to the rock paper scissors tropes
• Informed Locale - Setting your story in a real location that is In Name Only for the real place.
• Eleventh Hour Larval State - At the final battle the hero has their powers stripped away
• Positive Momma's Boy - A momma's boy who isn't a complete joke. Revised
• Mother Nature - Anthropomorphic Personification of nature as a woman. Launched
• Trope Overdosed Character - Troperiffic characters
• Walking Lingerie Scene - Distaff couterpart to Walking Shirtless Scene
• Nipple Pasties - Only covering the nipples of the breasts
• Vagina Paradisa - Superpowered vagina.
• Observation is a free action - A character observing something without taking up any actual time in the story.
• Corporate Carrier Group - An organization that has far more resources than they could logically have or be able to hide.
• No Sympathy Between Mooks - Shows that the organization is decidedly evil since the mooks don't even care about each other.
• Bizarre Human Biology - Bizarre Alien Biology for humans.

This is a pretty good idea.

Oh, hey, thanks. I didn't think it was getting any more examples, so I was going to launch it soon. I'd still like someone to iron out the description a little bit, unless they think it's fine?

About your example: I don't think I'll be using it, because I only have a few straight examples, and I don't want to confuse the meaning by adding too many variations, but thank you anyway.

This exist? I never noticed,I never noticed this existed, a shame too.

Anyway, I have made this YKTTW and I though it has a decent number of examples, it really could use a more detailled and wittier description... something which I am not good at.

It's not horrible but I know it can be much better. But maybe I just am being overly cautious.

@Kris: Now that I think about it, my example would probably fit better under I Never Told You It Was Poison. (Still, similar mechanic, as it were.)

I actually have a bunch of YKTT Ws in the YKTTW that I'm not quite sure what to do with. Should I post some of them here?

Rock Paper Scissors System

Inter-edit: The description? Uhh, the Super-Trope to Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors and Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors.

The description is very clunky. I don't know how to really describe this trope.

It was for Glowsquid and future readers.

It's a couple months old, but I'm ready to push Informed Locale again: a work is stated to be set in a particular place, but no aspect or characteristic of that place is shown.

This thread is a Godsend.

A word of forewarning, though: Some of these YKTTWs, by their very nature, revolve around relatively NSFW stuff.

• Mother Nature: The Anthropomorphic Personification of Earth... or whatever planet that the story is set on. Stands at the top of the Nature Spirit heirarchy. Needs A Better Description.

• Positive Momma's Boy: Momma's Boy without the seemingly enforced negativity. Less of a new trope, and more of an attempt to expand a new one; I was suggested to bring it up in YKTTW after posting a Trope Talk thread on it.

• Trope Overdosed Character: The character equivalent of the series-specific Trope Overdosed. Ur-Example: Negi Springfield. Was discarded due to inexplicable lack of responses for nearly five months. Needs A Better Title (Priority One), Needs A Better Description.

• Walking Lingerie Scene: Distaff Counterpart to Walking Shirtless Scene. A girl's normal wardrobe is typically composed of nothing but lingerie(-like) clothes. Needs More Examples, maybe Needs A Better Description.

• Nipple Pasties: This trope is when the nipples and areolae are the only parts of the breasts' frontal area that are covered up in any way, as a deliberate wardrobe choice on part of the character. Desperately needs a better description, maybe needs a better title and needs more examples.

• Vagina Paradisa: Uh... A vagina that is simply of inhuman/extramundane level of "good" - though it's a bit more complicated than that. Needs A Better Title, desperately Needs A Better Description.

Eleventh Hour Larval State - W Hen one section near the end of a game is done in a weaker state or with less abillity than during most of the game.

Observation Is A Free Action: A character observing something (and thus providing a description) without taking up any actual time in the story.

Over a week now, and only the Mother Nature YKTTW recieved any contributions. -_-; I'm starting to think that either few people bother looking this thread up, or practically everyone refuse to get within 10 feet of any YKTTW about "socially inappropiate" subjects.
