Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

I would like to request a quote change for the bible quote

Instead of Genesis 1:1.

I feel hebrew 4:12 is more fitting becuase the bible is talking about itself.

Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

I think even atheists will agree it is more fitting even if they don't agree with the message.

[up] I'd have to vote nay on that. There's something more striking about using the first line of the bible.

Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.

Well if the idea gets rejected. I will add it to the quotes wiki :)

Besides, the first line is probably one of the most recognized, even by people unfamiliar with the source material. I say keep.

Yeah, the proposed line is too preachy. I like the first line better.

Whilst I agree that we should keep the current page quote, I can't help but be amused by the dismissal of a line from a religious text as 'too preachy'.

What's precedent ever done for us?

The site is about media. Not about religion. It's not our goal to force one faith down anyone's throats. It's better to have a quote using the bible as media rather than religion in the context of the site.

^ That verse isn't preachy at all I find that statement amusing too. it ain't "forcing one faith down anyone's throats".On the contrary I would say it is Badass.

However I am fine with it. I understand, you are right this is a media site, not a religious one.And the bible is always a controversial topic. So I am fine with the decision of not changing the quote

I will ad the quote to the quote wiki tough.

Is there a reason that Orwellian Editor doesn't link to related tropes Old Shame or Keep Circulating the Tapes?

Why is Brother–Sister Incest still locked? It's an objetive trope page with an example list, and no obvious signs of edit warring.

Even if there was any specific edit war over it in the past, I'm sure that everyone already forgot about it's subject.

Take a look on Locked Pages for the reason. Also, we should probably include a link to this thread there.

Brother Sister Incest: Main page only. Subpages are still open at this time. Unfortunately, a bunch of subcategories are still on the main page.

These types of locks are applied to main pages because they don't need more editting.

[up][up] Even ignoring the folders that are still on the main page, no other page was locked for that reason.

Locked because people kept tweaking the definition. Try again.

Well, the Brother Chuck entry on Ctrl Alt Del's page asks when we last saw Chef Brian. Speak of the devil... Should really be moved under Long Bus Trip, or something.

On My Immortal, the subheading for Take That! is a first-level instead of second level. I know, I know, it's a really minor edit, but it just bugs me.

in the Inheritance Cycle page, the plot summary seems to be a stealth Take That against eragon, in that it is very similar to Star Wars, in fact, in trying to point out the similarities to star wars, a few key plotpoints have been left out. also, why exactly is this page locked?

^The page is locked because the series probably has a larger hatedom than fandom, at least on this site. Hence the Take That!-ish description.
