It's not always like that with every series tho, I think Sasuke from Naruto is among the top 3 most popular characters in Japan (more popular than Naruto himself I believe), but in the west he's a lot more controversial.
In general I don't think the Idiot Hero of the Goku mold are terribly interesting characters for the most part, they aren't necessarily meant to be but that doesn't really change anything about how older fans might perceive them.
Sanji is probably the best character in One Piece right now, really.
That's not saying much as far as my opinion is concerned.
Watch SymphogearUnrelated: You know, I'm dogging this current trend of adapting a manga in its entirety, just before it's about to end.
FMA Brotherhood did it years ago, now Rakugo Shinjuu, the upcoming Scum's Wish, Netsuzou Trap, and Masamune manga, and a few more I might be forgetting. I'm liking this, it beats the filler or gecko ending approach.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018I'll admit that I am one of those guys. I don't hate Goku and Luffy but at the same time, I really annoyed by their demeanor and their personality especially the former as he seems to almost regress somewhat in later incarnations.
@Draghinazzo
I agree with that.
@mrsunshinesprinkles
Jojo is also on that last.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."& Mind, there is probably gonna be a big hiatus between adaptations at some point if they want to do that with part eight or any future ninth due to the fact they'd have to wait a lot before it reaches it's end.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Speaking of adaptations, Watashi Ga Motete Dousunda really surprised me lately as I finally caught up on it (good dub, by the way). After five episodes following the manga slavishly, we get some animated-original episodes... 6 was in line with the theme of obscure fandom drama, and gave Nishina some needed conflict. Episode 7 was wut... straight up fantasy with an obligatory It Was All A Drean ending. But a good way to bring in Touken Ranbu (the current fujoshi hub of operations) and better than what the manga had at this point.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Speaking of which, is it me or are we starting to see more fat girls in anime? Kiss Him, Not Me has Kai, Keijo has Ujibe and one of the Saruga (sp?) girls, one of the girls in Genshiken Second Season was heavyset... I'm not the only one noticing a trend, am I?
EDIT: ...should I count Kae, actually?

I wonder if I started a Trope Launch Pad (aka YKTTW) for an Useful Notes article on Comiket, how many tropers would chime in? I'm not particularly interested in the doujinshi scene, but it is referred in anime frequent enough for a Useful Note.
Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra NovaI can help, but not much as I am busy with life and my real life experiences in doujinshi is limited to doujin music and Music Media-mix Market. I do know about Comiket somewhat, though.
As a side note, you really should try it out. I called it an underground paradise for good reasons.

Watching Re: Zero now and enjoying the fuck out of it
Good luck. I ain't spoiling a damn thing, so just be prepared.
Watch SymphogearFinished watching Kannagi. It was pretty good, reminded me a great deal of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The animation was great, the voicework was good, and the comedy was good although some of the jokes might have flown over my head a little. (And a pettanko female lead with amazing thighs is also something I can appreciate. Nagi's goddess outfit was great.) The story was the main weak point, and kinda felt crammed into the beginning and end of the show, with the middle episodes not really contributing much to the plot.
Next up is Kiddy Girl-and. I watched Kiddy Grade about a year ago and rather enjoyed it, although I gather this show is more like 'Kiddy Grade Fumoffu'. Should be fun either way.
Join my forum game!Re-reading Slam Dunk. Forgot how good it was.
Also reading the Yu Gi Oh manga for the first time. Man, they toned the sleaziness of some of the male character waaaay down for the anime...
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."I have a question and I couldn't find a thread to ask it in, so I came here. While looking up Speed Racer related stuff I came upon a few articles saying that a new Speed Racer is in the works. However these articles are a little on the old side and I'm wondering if anyone knows if they are still working on it or if the project has been cancelled.
Does anyone know if there's any particular meaningfulness to the choice of title for Blue Drop?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I find myself asking that about a lot of anime/manga titles.
In the original Speed Racer cartoon in Japan, was it a mystery that Racer X was really Speed's brother? Because it certainly wasn't the case in the English dub.
Indeed. I wonder if Speed ever figured out that his brother is actually Racer X?

"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."IIRC during one of the last episodes he does find out.
In that clip near the end when X punches Speed, he then takes off his mask, and a third party watching says that he can clearly tell they are brothers from the way they look. Rex says that he can never go home, so it doesn't matter. Not sure why he can never go home though. When Speed wakes up he seems convinced that Racer X was his brother, almost as though he was awake for the entire exchange.

I must rewatch the series one day......when I am not working and I have more free time.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."I'm in the middle of watching the first episode of ēlDLIVE. This show is stupid. Really, really stupid. But it's made me genuinely laugh several times, so I think I'll stick with it for now.

We're in the best timeline.

This is why comic books sucks lately.You need at least a few Gokus to bounce all the Vegetas off.
