The majority of people who consume any and all gaming media don't chat on sites like TV Tropes, Reddit, news sites, etc. They just play the games/buy the consoles/subscribe to the services.
For example, if you checked online, it would seem like everyone hates the games that win the PS+ voting the two times Sony actually polled people. Except Sony was pretty transparent about those vote results to show that, in fact, the majority of voters wanted those games.
Basically, if you're on a forum, Vocal Minority by default unless the fanbase is simply that tiny.
I should also note that the English Neptunia track, at least, does have enough of a fanbase to force Funimation to keep most of the voice cast due to the near-universal "Keep the cast or no purchase" comments people had regarding the dub (usually Funimation keeps the lead character, if that, and anyone else who stays just happens to be based near them). Not to mention enough of a following for IFi to keep everyone in the license transition.

That puts a lot of things into perspective.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Hyperdevotion Noire was confirmed for PC release on April 18, I have no idea on how to put a link here
Help me find a cool signature plzJust gonna say, that I'm one of the few here that usually prefers English dubs if possible, that said I can and have opted for the sub instead and in other cases No Dub for You was in effect.
With that said, I am aware that Compile Heart's dubs are...incomplete.
BTW is there a general Compile Heart thread here or is this it?
VideoGame.Hyperdevotion Noire Goddess Black Heart is the link in question

this is probably the link in question.

^^^ Wow, already? Still, with that coming I really wish Sting would put more of their games on Steam...one can hope.

Give me cute or give me...something?The fact that this is a collaberation with IF, and part of a franchise that both have precedences for PC ports, might had been a factor.
Exactly.
And there is no general Compile Heart thread. I used to randomly bring up Compile Heart games here, though.
If you wanted to discuss non-Neptunia stuff, what exactly is there even in the works? English versions of Moe Crystal and FFF: Advent Dark Force, and that new RPG in Japan that's totally not Omega Quintet reskinned, we swear.
...Oh, and I suppose Trillion recently launched. Been too busy to play past the intro.

^^ I know, but as a fan of Dept. Heaven series I really wish Sting would bring those to PC...
Give me cute or give me...something?I've never really been into the Neptune franchise, but I'm excited to see the SGH show up in new media, and with a dub no less! That was one of the last things I'd expect to get localized, since the anime's firmly in Japan.
The Neptunia franchise is doesn't shy away from breaking the No Export for You elements into their games.
Hyperdevotion Noire has characters from Tokimeki Memorial, Sakura Wars The Idol Master, Super Robot Wars etc. and is the best game in the franchise IMO.
I really hesitate to call it the best game in the franchise. It has a ton of reuse (I don't think there's a single original song aside from the OP and super move theme, for example), some UI elements, like moving your character, are predictable in the stupidest of ways, leading to a map early on that derives its entire difficulty from the movement system and not the map itselfnote , floating characters are overpowered, the game is extremely slow-paced unless you turn off/speed-up every single animation in the settings, the final boss is an exercise in boredom... and Histoire makes no 3 [time measurement] joke!
Honestly, the best it has going for it is that the characters are funny. But that's also not without problems, as the dub track is the only one in the entire series to have issues with the transformed voice clips VS normal voice clips.
To be blunt, none of the Neptunia spin-offs localized in the West thus far could be noted as anything more than sub-par. Ironically, the dullest of them all, PP, is the most notable for being the only game in the genre to come Westward (actually translated) ever.note

I never had a single problem with the movement system at all, it was pretty easy to manipulate.
And its an SRPG that's a given they are always slow unless you turn stuff off.
Histy not making a 3x joke was an issue though.
Its got more english voice acting than pretty much every CH released Neptunia game.

My point with the movement system is that they made it so you have to move in an L shape and then proceed to make a level with pitfalls and a turn limit early in the game. That was quite annoying.
And no, not necessarily. See: Disgaea. Noire simply had a shit-ton of extra animations. For example, the nearly identical Lily Boost cutscene that plays out before every attack animation.
EDIT: In response to your edit, that's because they didn't QA the voice clips as much, note what I said about the inconsistent transformed voices.

Iirc it was just a few lines, way better than say Persona 3 Portable which had outright Japanese text for some scenes. Maybe they will fix it for the PC release in 2 weeks.
Disgaea has much longer animations than this game but again you can turn stuff off.
But still it was a great game and certainly better than the main series in most areas aside from the post game. It was the most fun I had had in a SRPG in a long time.

Disgaea has a "show all animations only the first time they show up" option and this game does not. And I don't think they're longer. There are short and long animations in both, but Hyperdevotion adds extra ones.
And I should note that my "floating characters are OP" comment went completely unanswered.
In any event, I think this is where we agree to disagree. I think it's the best-put-together of the spin-offs, but I hesitate to call it better than some main series entries. (it definitely beats the original game, I don't think anyone will argue that, etc.)
Asami Imai True Hype, too strong, please help
Help me find a cool signature plzBecause it is a game mechanic, that is the biggest bonus for actually transforming into HDD for 3 turns.
HDD is far more balanced in this game than the others, where it is absolutely broken and makes the non-CP Us about as useful as a stick is fighting a Death Star.
edited 10th Apr '16 10:12:28 PM by Memers
Hey, a well put stick could destroy anything :*D
Help me find a cool signature plzThat argument collapses when they give you Lady Wac, who doesn't need to transform to float. When it actively lets you mess with some levels and the inability to float over bottomless pits was clearly an Obvious Rule Patch in others, there's a problem.
Side-note: That you ignore an argument is usually seen as an admission, not disagreement on the merits of discussing said point. I'm not joking when I say this also extends to courtrooms.
Also, HDD was never the only reason CPUs were OP in main games. The other characters also rarely have skills nearly as powerful.
In any event, as I said, this is the point where we agree to disagree. Neither you nor I would want this to turn into a serious debate, trust me.

I prefer English dubs because I can understand what is being said and for a video game that is a lot more important than in an anime that I've elected to watch subbed.
Lady Wac was a little underpowered to balance that ability to fly IIRC.
But really after replaying the Rebirth games on PC and playing Trails Of Cold Steel on PS 3 I realized that the main series isn't really THAT good gameplay wise. There is so much imbalance and unnecessary grinding going around it really isn't that funny.
In contrast though I have a high opinion of Noire's gameplay, which is not perfect though and while still grindy nowhere near as much as the main series.
Both really filled a void in their genres though which is great.
In related news, Rebirth 3 is really pissing me off. The grinding is getting stupid, use 100 skills to get an EXE move on each character while simultaneously limiting SP regen? ugh.
edited 11th Apr '16 9:38:48 AM by Memers
Too bad EXE drives in Rebirth 3 sucks.
#IceBearForPresidentIF is teasing about Four Goddesses Online. Twitter translate says wait for the 14th.

So do the people that just leave the voice option as is just not talk about the dub? Because I always hear people complaining about dubs of JRPGs, but not nearly as many people complementing them?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.
