Welp. We're going to find out about Carver sooner than we expected.
Also, -gasp- Daud returns!

Is Carver being played by Harrington? It sounds like him.
Michael Madsen. According to the interview, he's the first of many Celebrity Voice Actors this season.
I'm not terribly excited by this casting choice. Madsen's performance as Dishonored's Daud was pretty flat (although all the voice acting in that game was kind of lifeless.))
Daud had the best acting in Dishonored, in my opinion. Granted, that's not a big feat, but a lot of the actors from Dishonored were actually good. It's just their delivery that was wooden for some reason.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Played the 2nd episode (Yes it's out, go play it now!), and lemme just say, it's FAR better than the first one. Dunno how many people have already played it, so that's all I'll say for now. The choices aren't out yet. (probably because there's not enough data yet)

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Just finished 2-2. Overall, I enjoyed it. The plot's starting to kick up and I can't wait for Episode 3. Now for my spoilery thoughts. Do not highlight unless you don't care about spoilers or have also finished it:
- KENNY! I'm kind of miffed that his awesome death scene has been weakened by his survival, but it was good to see him again.
- I always suspected that the 500 days community was too good to be true. I wonder if any of the other 500 days characters can be convinced to help Clem.
- I managed to get all the cabin survivors out alive (besides Pete, who I got killed last episode) and only lost Walt and Matthew.
- If I had given up on Nick, would he have died? If so, would the whole Matthew crisis be averted?
- Carver is the scariest villain I've seen in a while. I got some child molester vibes from how terrified Sarah was of him
- Speaking of Sarah, I pissed her off when I let slip that I was following Carlos's orders to distract her, but I think I got myself back into her good graces by using the angel ornament. I want Clem to be her friend. I have a bit of a soft spot for the mentally different.
- I'm starting to suspect that Luke is too good to be true. Carver's comments about him at the end of the episode only make my suspicions worse. I suspect that he'll turn out to be just as bad as Carver by the end.
- I'm glad I didn't attempt to blackmail Rebecca last episode. I'd be feeling pretty horrible if I did.
Just finished watching. I'll see what happens in my own go at it.
I HATED Kenny here. I mean, I disliked him originally, but more because I disagreed with him, not because his writing bothered me. He describes that he went back to save that 'shithole' (i think that was the word he used) Ben and got caught... That line alone pissed me off since his entire character development culminates in that point where he sacrifices his life to put Ben out of his misery before he gets turned. He knows that he's not saving him in Episode 5. Its such a massive discrepancy and it bothers me.
He just doesn't feel like Kenny. I know people can change and its been, like, two years, but its a bit jarring. The 'You two sound like mates' comment came out of nowhere and I can't tell if its meant to be implying something or what purpose that line had.
Can you save Matthew? I'm not entirely sure since his death is what the last segment revolves around.
And, I assume Walter and Matthew are meant to be a gay couple? He refers to him as his partner and their picture isn't just of Matthew, but of Walter AND Matthew together. Additionally, since the climax of that subplot is with Walter, and not anyone else in Kenny's group, it gives me that impression still.
Still can't figure out where this season is going. And, i don't know if its just me, but I feel like the new group (Luke's group) just didn't get that well established compared to how characters in Season 1 got established, usually through a sidequest. Like, I mean, Alvin is there, and so is Rebecca, but I don't know a thing about either of them as a character or a person really.

I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.Holy shit, man. Dude. Like whoa.
Kenny being alive makes no god damn sense, but you know what, I'm happy about it. He looks good with a beard.
I feel kinda bad because i got Alvin killed and then reloaded. But I meant to tell Kenny not to shoot. Totally.
Can Nick die if you don't convince Walt that he's cool? Is it possible to save Matthew?

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."- I had blackmailed Rebecca, but I'm happy I managed to get along with her this episode.
- In my playthrough, I had told Walter that Nick is a good person, so he saved him. But seriously, Nick has proven himself unable to safely use a gun too many times. I also managed to stop Carver from killing Alvin.
- I felt a little bad about it, but I decided to show loyalty to the Cabin group, rather than Kenny. I was happy to see Kenny alive, though.

I don't think it's possible to save Matthew, and I think Walt can shoot Nick. One of the tracked choices is whether you convince Walt to forgive him or not.
As I recall, I believe he just leaves Nick to die.
According to the wiki, he totally dies.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Close enough.
Anyway, I managed to get out of the episode without anyone dying unnecessarily, but I felt like shit about giving myself up to Carver. I should have gone to look for Luke and Kenny.
I sat with Luke at dinner, but I took Kenny's side in the argument, so hopefully that balances out.
The entire Matthew / Walter thing seems like Bury Your Gays to me.
It is, literally. But I doubt they killed Matthew and Walter because they were gay.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Kinda bummed that I had to snub Luke at the table by sitting with Kenny. It was at that moment that I realize that he was a pretty cool guy but hey I needed some more time to catch up with old friends. That said I'm kinda glad that I didn't have to choose between the two groups. It really seemed like it was going to come to that choice: pick the new friends you just met or cling to the old one you haven't seen in a long time. But dang it if the reason why that choice never came wasn't intense.
#IceBearForPresidentThat's not how the trope works, Mokura. Bury Your Gays is basically that they're easily expendable, and only worth being at best a plot point.
Well someone needs to fix a few of the examples I've seen then. And it also doesn't apply, in that case.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Bury Your Gays only applies when the gay characters get disproportionately bad endings compared to the straight ones. Given how many straight characters have died in this game, the trope doesn't apply just because the only two known gay characters are dead.
To quote the trope page: "The problem isn't when gay characters are killed off: the problem is when gay characters are killed off far more often than straight characters, or when they're killed off because they are gay. This trope therefore won't apply to a series where Anyone Can Die (and does), or a Cast Full of Gay."
Besides, Matthew and Walter didn't die because they were gay: they died because the authors wanted to make a point about how being too nice is a bad idea in this setting.

Okay, question: was there any reason for them to be gay from a storytelling point of view? The game sure had no problem averting the Black Dude Dies First trope.

If you're cynical, they were gay for the sake of having gay characters. Regardless, their deaths are a misuse of Bury Your Gays: I've seen the mods rule that way with another Anyone Can Die series where a gay character died.

I'm going with A) Give them some characterization beyond "nice guys who die soon after they are introduced" or B) Give the setting some token gays for diversity or C) Emphasize just how boned you are by having your host being in a more intimate relationship with a guy you just killed than if they were merely friends or D) A combination of the above.
#IceBearForPresidentGod forbid you should have gay characters who last more than a half of one episode. Even the cannibals lasted longer.
The game averts the Black Dude Dies First - and I'm not even thinking of Lee, either. But The Gay Dudes Die REAL Damn Quick trope is in effect.

True enough, but that trope is not the same as Bury Your Gays.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
Trailer for Episode 2 (around 2:15) and an interview with Scott Porter (voice of Luke).
