I think Legionare is trying to say that Re: coded isn't difficult. In my opinion, it's mostly easy, with at least one exception: the part in Hollow Bastion Part 1 where you need to avoid enemies in an enclosed space for about a minute, in a 0% HP run.

If catching Latias counts as That One Level then it's that. If not, the irksome climb that is Spear Pillar.

as for That One Boss... Steven Motherfucking Stone, mainly his Cradily.

Pharaoh Man is the solution to all your problems. Except those involving time shenanigans.

I haven't actually played the game in a long time, but I'm bored so I'm going to relate the story of the single toughest mandatory boss I have ever fought: the final fight with Sarah in Suikoden III.

Reasons why it's so hard:

  • The devs thought that it was a good idea to put a friendly fire system in a game where you can't control or predict the movements of your party. This meant that all the powerful spells were worthless.
  • Incidentally, since the AI can control where the enemies move, your enemies almost never get hit by friendly fire.
  • Sarah is a powerful mage.
  • She fights alongside five strong monsters.
  • She can heal her entire party.
  • The easiest way to defeat her is to use a spell called Silent Lake, which makes it impossible for anyone to use magic for a few turns.
  • Silent Lake takes three turns to cast. If the caster is hit during one of these turns, they have to restart casting. Sarah has a spell that can hit the entire party.
  • If, by some miracle, you successfully cast Silent Lake, the next step in the strategy is to take out Sarah before the effect wears off. Unfortunatly, she has a god-like evade rate.
  • To add insult to injury, the previous boss fight was against Yuber, a Badass recurring antagoinst who was The Unfought in the previous two games. That fight is actually a fun level of challenging. For some reason, Sarah, a textbook Anti-Villain, is tougher then aforementioned uber-Badass

The dark world levels of world 4 and 5 in Super Meat Boy. I only need to beat another 18 to unlock the real final boss (out of about 37 I have left between 4, 5 and 6).

Also, I can't get the last bandage I have left in World 3-it's in 3x-19, and just getting to the bottom of a crumbly-block filled missile tower is kind of a pain. But then you have to go back UP to get the bandaid, then get down again to beat the level.

I got to the bandaid once, then got hit by a missile on the way down. I ragequitted.

I want to unlock The Guy, because he makes so many levels so much easier, but his unlock levels almost aren't worth the trouble. Even if his unlock levels are what my friend showed me that convinced me to get this game...well, let's be realistic, he only showed me the first unlock level. About a hundred times.

Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna.

Battle Garegga: The Stage 3 Boss. The First Phase is a pain to get through, but then It Gets Worse on the second phase, when it fires big yellow circular bullets FAST, and you have to deal with the missiles as well. However, that is nothing compared to Stage 4.

Of course, keep in mind that there's Rank involved.

KOF XI. There's not much in the way of story progression, but the gameplay is stellar. But since it is lolSNK, it's only natural that obstacles would spring up.

  • The mid-bosses are somewhat hard on a normal difficulty level. But trying to get to fight Jazu (DM 6 opponents) without getting Silver (also DM 6 opponents) is hair-pulling as is. When you actually fight him, he throws a medley of fire and ice attacks in unison with multi-hit combos. His projectiles can range the entire screen and keep you trapped as he dishes out further pain.
  • After Jazu, you have the sub-boss Shion. Not as hard but still makes you want to chuck the controller at the screen. The only problem here is that his combos link into his DM.
  • Then you have this guy. Magaki. As someone said on his page, he "throws more projectiles than a bleeding Touhou character." Attempt to get physically close and he'll crush you with a large sphere. Playing it easy from a long distance? Purple orbs will break your guard from behind. You can't dash for long, and the projectiles cancel out most DM and LDM attacks. Don't think about cornering him without a fast-hitting character. He'll teleport like it's going out of style.

All in all, the gameplay makes the game. Because after defeating Magaki, all you're left with is a short ending and your team's (or solo character's) ending.

Right now, the final battle with Dark Samus in Metroid Prime 2. Not really a hard fight per se, just a Time-Limit Boss where she stalls like mad. Having nearly all of my ammo drained by the previous boss doesn't help.

In Baldur's Gate 2, the last time you fight Irenicus and literally ANY time you fight Mind Flayers/Illithids or liches. Also, in the expansion pack: The entirety of Warden's Keep and the Bhaalspawn dragon you have to fight (I forget his name) somewhere nearing the end of the game.

In Kingdom Hearts, Riku in Hollowed Bastion. In the second game there's Whatsisname with the two gun like things and an eyepatch in The World That Never Was. Also, Sephiroth in both games.

I think Legionare

OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD

[up][up] Xaldin is annoying until you get the hang of blocking and dodging his attacks down. I still haven't managed to Master dodging the move where he bullet hell's you though.

[up]Whoops...sorry...sad

Anyway, Neverland, the bonus dungeon of Resonance Of Fate, seems to be the hardest part of the game. Even at the maximum level, the enemies (particularly the "fairies") are pretty tough, and I've had to restart several battles multiple times. I haven't been stuck for too long, though.

Mission 15 in Devil May Cry 3.

Almost everything about this level is a chore to go through, as you can easily get lost if you don't know what you're doing. To make matters worse, the beginning of the level introduces the Fallen, the most annoying mooks to fight in the game.(With the Arachne's at a close second)

Just had to go through it again on hard mode. And I'm just dreading the day I have to go through the level as Vergil.

I never had problems with dodging (fighting Sephiroth at level 40 something saw to that), so Xaldin was a pushover for me. Also, Xemnas was one of the easier, if the coolest, boss fights for me.

The only bosses I have trouble with in Kingdom Hearts are Helmet-less Zack, Wheel Master and that one Symphony Unversed from Terra's Story in Birth By Sleep.

Demyx admittedly gives me grief when I'm not paying attention, but pretty much every boss is easy to beat with a bit of experience.

Just picked up Overlord (full game game on Steam for 4.99$? Hell yeah.) and I enjoy it; mainly because it solved most of my problems with Pikmin (which is a contender for the least enjoyable game I have ever played). But lord can it be difficult at times; make one wrong click and your minions are dead meat.

I can't beat Boss Battles on Insane in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Some of the bosses have attacks that are difficult to dodge. I managed to get to Tabuu once with Charizard, but I got hit by that damn red ring attack. However, I figured out that standing in the center is not the best place, as you have the least amount of time to react there.
