During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Can't say I'm really behind the Gundam image, to me at least, "just" shooting someone like that doesn't quite go the extra mile needed to portray this trope.
As for the Yazan image? As nice as it would be if it worked it doesn't really scream monster, it's just Yazan saying a (mistranslated) line that sounds rapey.

Obviously it's not a good reason to shoot someone, my issue is I don't find it bad enough to warrant being a CM image. Again, if you want to be able to use an image of a monster "just" shooting someone, you want something like a child victim or someone in clear terror, this ain't gonna cut it.

Quite surprisingly, Beria seems to have gotten enough votes. Without further ado, here's my draft for him.
- Lavrentiy Beria is the head of the NKVD who desires control over Russia, using his position to murder, torture, and rape whomever he wants, no matter the age, having already murdered thousands and raped hundreds. Discovering that Stalin’s dead, he crafts his own enemy list to replace Stalin’s, has the NKVD take over city security duties from the Soviet Army, and appoints weak-minded Deputy General Secretary Georgy Malenkov as Premier of Russia, planning to use him as a puppet. Taking Stalin’s corpse to the morgue, he orders the NKVD to take Stalin’s possessions and murder any witnesses, save for Stalin’s maid, who Beria plans on raping later. Wanting to gain support from the public and Committee in order to keep his position, Beria loosens restrictions on the Russian Orthodox Church and orders the freedom of every political prisoner, including Vyacheslav Molotov’s wife. Refusing to allow Stalin’s mourners into Moscow for his funeral, he doesn’t care when 1,500 of them are slaughtered by his soldiers, blaming them for being there, and refusing to allow his NVKD troops to act as scapegoats, worried that it’ll tarnish his reputation.

- Freudian Excuse: Up there with Magneto as Marvel villains go. He went through everything "our" Hulk did, plus several decades of more of the same, watching his friends and loved ones die of various causes, in one version, having his infant son kidnapped at birth and raised as a weapon against him who he was forced to later kill, and TWO nuclear wars. The Omega Hulk storyline implies that the Maestro may be an extension of the Doc Green persona, which only came about because Bruce Banner was shot in the head and had his brain restored with Extremis. Making this the second time Banner has suffered brain damage (and the first time that happpened he temporarily turned into a young "Maestro", complete with long hair and beard). Nothing excuses his atrocities, but anyone would be messed up in the head after all that.
Should this be deleted?
Haven't we already cut that before? Overlord's explained that at length. Do cut, please.
