This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Ms Chibi: It's fairly simple: all mention of #GamerGate is banned on this wiki due to the potential for flame wars. You added an example about it on Appeal to Force.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh, whoops. I didn't realize that wasn't allowed. I will be happy to remove the post.

So, how's it coming along? It's apparently been 9 days since my last query.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."~Ms Chibi: It was already removed. I'll grant you an honest mistake and release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Spanks, in case you haven't noticed, feminism comes up quite a bit in media, so a Useful Notes article is relevant. Again, we are not here to provide you with a platform to push your agenda on people. You can argue on Tumblr all you like, but not on TV Tropes. If you can't accept that, you can't participate.
To address your other issue, Discussion pages are for discussing edits to the article, such as resolving disagreements without engaging in an Edit War, contesting examples, giving detailed explanations for changes, and the like. If you want to have a general conversation, you can use our On-Topic Conversations forum instead.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Silence In The Library: The reason we aren't going to release your suspension is that we are tired of having arguments about the rules each time you show up here. It's also somewhat interesting to note that your account was created only a few days after a ban was issued for ~Chrisp And Chris Ice, on the same IP, and started editing the same articles. I'm calling shenanigans.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Cruherrx: I'll let you post again, but I'll be damned if we'll put up with another rant about Yu-Gi-Oh.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That's a pretty serious accusation to make and I'm pretty angry about it. Silence in the Library is the username I've used for years since I started Wikia. I'm no expert on IP addresses, but I know it isn't impossible or even unlikely for two people to have the same one.
I haven't tried to argue the rules but once, and you made clear pretty quickly that even an attempt to discuss it or changes to it would be shut down. That pissed me off and it seems unfair, but I've shut up about it since. To say I try to argue the rules every time I show up here is just untruthful. What does happen every time you come here is that you dodge whatever questions I try to throw your way.

You're right, it's not impossible for someone to have the same IP address. But as was pointed out above the IP match is not the only reason we have to suspect ban evasion. So how do you account for those things?
"Yup. That tasted purple.""You seem to have uncommented ZC Es in Western Animation.Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go. Can you try not doing that unless you have context to add?"
Of course. I promise! :)
Okay then, lifting suspension. Happy troping.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAccount for editing the same articles? I wouldn't know, I have a lot of fandoms I'm in, several of them have very large communities. This wikia being the size it is, it's bound to get hundreds of sign-ups a day. I've never been accused of ban evasion before, so I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to prove my innocence beyond stating it.
Am I to understand that this is the main reason I'm being held back from a suspension release?
I wanted to edit again but I want to know if I did something wrong. I think edit wars are my main issues, and I am a "trial and error" person. Can you just lift me from suspension?
@ 4444jdm: You're another one of those people who seems to be editing with an agenda. We're not just going to release you until we've settled this.
So what were you doing on the VideoGame.Mario Kart 8 article?

When you write an article based on something like it's absolute truth and factual, especially when it isn't, there's going to be problems.

Cool. Unless Conversations mean "Only things you want to hear." In that case, I want no part of it.
Also, please, stop sending me PM's when you're not even allowing me to respond to them.
Uhhh.. Hi. My editing privilege was suspended despite that being my first time editing any tropes page on the site and I'm not sure why. If it was my grammar, then I apologize. The appropriate use of commas isn't my strong point when it comes to writing. Can I please have my suspension lifted so that I can fix it? I'll try not to make this mistake again.
When you made your sole edit, you appear to have had an adscript running on your computer. Have you taken care of it?

Adscript? I actually don't know what that is. I'm not actually on a computer either since it is current out of commission. I'm on a mobile device so I don't know what's up with that. Did the adscript mess up the page?
@4444jdm : We do actually require you to post your stuff publicly in this thread if you want to be released. P Ms are not going to cut it.

"Yup. That tasted purple."Well, I was too obsessed with Reichstropen stuff and WWII stuff, and linking any 1930s German-built stuff to Those Wacky Nazis. I did too much Adolf Hitlarious edits which lead to suspension.
I will be doing seriously after release. (I tend to edit on phone due to lack of computer time.)

It's been nearly a week since I posted here. I've acknowledged my offense and offered what I believe was a good-faith account of my reasoning behind it. I pledge to me more cognizant of wiki rules in the future. Would you please consider lifting my suspension? Thanks once again.
I'm not entirely sure why I'm here.
My best guess is that it involves an issue relating to a single Video Game/Sunrider edit I made, which involved deleting a trope entry I didn't feel applied to the work. I discussed the matter in a number of P Ms with someone who thought it did, someone told me about a Discussion post on the issue and asked me to argue my case, and when I'm ready to post it I discover I can't because I'm edit-banned.
I'm annoyed for losing the time I spent typing that post and confused about how I didn't learn I was breaking a rule until losing said post.
@Silence: Someone from the same dynamic IP as you was suspended for bad edits to the YMMV.Persona4 article mere days before your account was created, and your first edits were to that article. Among coincidences, that ranks up there with being struck by lightning twice in the same day. Also, we didn't pick that up until recently, after I did a deeper dive into your account history and why you seemed so fussy about our rules.
@Spanks: Unfortunately, your distinction "only things we want to hear" pretty much defines our concern about your editing. In other words, forums or no, we don't need you popping in with some kind of bug up your ass. Nobody is allowed to do that.
~Nippy Heifer: Something on your browser caused the edit you made to YMMV.Touken Ranbu to include HTML advertising links. You need to resolve this problem before you can have your suspension removed, because otherwise you'll be vandalizing our articles every time you do.
~Tropers/{{4444jdm}}: If you're one of those people who sees Nazi imagery everywhere and likes to tell everyone about it, you're going to have a rough time here. Will you cut that out?
~Mdumas43073: Sorry, we seem to have overlooked you. It is correct wiki practice to leave redlinks to work and/or creator articles on indexes (and elsewhere), for two reasons. First, it gives people an incentive to create the articles in question. Second, it provides a ready supply of crosswicks if and when they do. Please don't delete them again. I'll release your suspension.
~Great Wyrm Gold: Your actions constitute an Edit War, even though you later agreed to work out the issue. Since you have, I've got no problem releasing your suspension, but please use discussions first, not after someone reminds you. Okay?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, I shall cut out. IRL, I usually not show anything Nazi-related stuff. I am trying to avoid Adolf Hitlarious stuff as possible.
Hi, again. I seem to have gotten a little lost in the shuffle. I received a warning a couple of days ago that I've been suspended. I want to know a) why and b) what I can do to fix that.
Thanks for your help!
