This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

So how's that coming along?
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Honestly I don't know why I was banned.
So what happened on Characters.CHIKARA then?
"Yup. That tasted purple."I also have no idea with that, honestly. I just tried to add 2 or 3 things to some of the characters (specifically, Heidi Lovelace, Mark Angelosotti, and The Colony Xtreme Force) and when I was done editing, there were no characters before 2007 on the page anymore. I just assumed someone else had gouged that before me and I hadn't noticed, seeing as every character I entered anything for was from 2012 or 2013.
Seriously, I have no idea what happened.
So what's the deal with you suspending me before the discussion on an Ask The Tropers even took place? Having looked, I can say that the response after you went ahead and banned me was at least mixed with some in my favor. That defied the point of ATT two times over.
Not that it matters at this point, because that was my first ban and this is my third I'm trying to get lifted. As I've pressed before, to say I'm doing harm to the wiki is pretty drastic. This wiki has many varied rules for different varied and specific situations, and many just won't be apparent until they've already been violated and banned over in response. With that said, I've kept my eye on them and have made several efforts to improve where I lack. Yeah, I've had my ups and downs, but every user will. My attitude towards this wiki is oftentimes "I wish I knew how to quit you", but I still like it and still want to be valuable to it. I still have a lot to add to it.
I don't want my ban lifted out of leniency or rule bending, I want it lifted out of consideration that I'm probably not going to make the same mistake twice. Put aside that this is my third ban and look at what got me here: shortness with another user and unilateral decision-making. Frankly, I knew immediately that was a bad decision and would've gone back to edit it, but here we are. It's two months later, and I've continued my civil speaking and patience rather than repeating that mistake, which in this case would probably translate to saying 'fuck it' and making a sockpuppet account from the get-go. Right?

I don't know exactly what happened, I assume it involved some editing wars. I haven't used this account for a long time so I don't remember. Can I get it removed?
Me: *rereading a fanfic for the 17th time* ah, yes. *sips tea* a true literary classic~Abby Anne: Your suspension was for an edit war on YMMV.Attack On Titan.

~lilithmercy, I've released your suspension.
And how about me? I've been asking for at least 3 days.
It was indeed grammar and indentation issues. While we appreciate enthusiasm for adding information, please make sure that you are taking the time to write it correctly the first time (and using the preview mode), so that you don't have to go back repeatedly to fix the same entry. Got it?
Agreed, I'll use preview mode and do the editing with home PC instead of mobile device, thanks for answering.
Great. You're all set.
Oh, right. I remember I was really passionate and immature about it a few years ago. I've learned my lesson and grown as a person since then, can I have the ban lifted?
Me: *rereading a fanfic for the 17th time* ah, yes. *sips tea* a true literary classicJust so we're clear - issues regarding an example that don't involve its factual correctness need to be resolved on the page's discussion page before making changes to the example. I'll release your suspension.
I was recently suspended for unknown reason, and I have legitimately no idea why. It's not exactly fun coming home from work to find out I was edit banned and have no information on why. Can I please get it removed?
Edit: Honestly, the only thing I can think of is me trying to turn Zero Content Examples into not Zero Content Examples and someone thinking they still were ZCE's.

You uncommented ZCEs in Characters.RWBY Team RWBY without fixing them. And it appears you have been given quite an amount of issue messages as well.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report... huh. I coulda sworn those were fixed as I tried putting more content in them. Oops, my bad? I'll try to refrain from un-commenting them out in the future without putting more content in them. I apologize deeply and will strive to not do that again
Um.... Hello? Someone, anyone? I'm legitimately worried now (then again, most of the mods responding might have also fallen asleep last night, it was like midnight EST)
I've looked at the examples given for why you've suspended my edits, and there are hundreds of cases!
I am a casual troper (certainly haven't done this many edits), so either this is wrong or someone has hacked my account. Could you please clarify?
Sorry if I'm spamming/being annoying with posting here, but I'm very anxious about this whole thing. I fucked up with uncommenting ZCEs without fixing them, and I apologize profusely. Hell, I'd take a week-long edit ban, I just want some kind of response >.>
Hi - I've been suspended and would like to know why, and how to return to good standing. Thank you.
Hello. I went to edit something, and got an error message saying I'm suspended. I would like to know why this is, and what can be done about it.
"I'll go wherever my mind takes me." -Treize Kushrenada (Gundam Wing)~Black Sun Nocturne: We don't work 24/7. Exercise patience. Part of the problem of adjudicating a case like yours is the remarkable number of issue messages you've received, not to mention past suspensions on your record. It is bizarre that you'd have been such a prolific contributor for so long and never encountered our ZCE rules.
~Gravious: Do you know why you were suspended? It was an Edit War over a quotation on Series.Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. I'm curious what other things you might be referring to, though. Is there some reason you'd think we would need to be concerned about your account's security?
~Mdumas43073: Perhaps you can explain why you deleted a bunch of entries on Arena Rock without explanation? This isn't the first time we've had to have this conversation with you, either.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I apologize again about the impatience. And yeah, I know the... past issues, though thankfully I've gotten past that. And I had read the entry for Zero-Context Examples before, I think my issue was I tried to expand to make them not Zero-Context Examples, and... utterly failed. So yeah, in this case, it's my fuck up and I'll avoid doing that in the future. Well... if I have a future. As I said, I fucked up, I know it, and if it pleases you, I'll willingly take a week-long editing suspension or... something. I dunno, I just genuinely enjoy working on this wiki and losing the ability to edit over my dumb mistakes makes me feel like shit >.>

I was recently suspended for unknown reason, presumably for my terrible grammar and repeated editing for fixing grammar or adding info. This was due to me editing via mobile devices and rendering the use of preview inconvenient (it has something to do with my terrible Wi-fi) as well as sudden realisation of something missing which I wish to add immediately. If only I can improve my editing and stop making mistakes, please tell me how to.
Thanks.
