A comparison pic would help.
I'm not sure TR is an example in the first place because the original games weren't exactly without graphic violence and tones (ie: the infamously bone-breaking and screaming when Lara falls).
The reboot just ratcheted up the graphic visuals and visceralness of the combat so it's more like Bloodier and Gorier

That's pretty good.
That's definitely a possibility.
I also found this really gnarly Sonic Forces concept art that looks like something out of a grimdark RPG book

Sonic being visible makes it a good visual because he's generally not associated with such dark imagery.
My vote goes to 4. That's about as drastic a Darker and Edgier change for a cutesy series can get.
I'm thinking also that showcasing the box arts for Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog together can work, unless that's duplicating.

4 for me.
(Annoyed grunt)Retro!Bomberman's front cover doesn't necessarily suggest the game isn't dark, though. Anime can be both cartoonish and dark, for instance.
I'm voting we go with a Sonic example, as the transition between classic Sonic and stuff like Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow, or Sonic 06 was pretty drastic. Not sure which particular example would would best, though.

4 looks good.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I'm good with 4.
The second picture in 4 is from an actual game in the series? At first, I thought it was an edit with Iron Man.
If so, it gets my vote.

No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.4 works.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, it's from Bomberman Act:Zero.
Want to go for the crowner, or just change it?
Hollering.
No caption discussion; locking up.
The current image is just a cover (promotional?) art of Lara. It requires knowledge of the original series to get why it's so much darker than it. Though Tomb Raider is iconic, I don't think it's quite well-known enough for the pic to work on its own. Maybe adding a comparison with the original continuity would help?
