The vault is has a magical seal on it, though the seal will eventually break from age. Once the seal breaks, everything in the vault will be unleashed into reality and fight for dominance. The fact that the vault had to be sealed away in the first place implies that the amount of bad stuff in the vault outnumbers the good.
