That would make sense. It would explain what brings Kara to that world.

By the way, who from Kara's world (besides her of course) is gonna be involved in the Crossover in the first place?

I'd expect Superman and J'onn to find their way in, maybe Mon'el, aka the dude in the pod as well.

Do we know for sure who's involved on the heroes and Villains side?

Goddammit, how do I keep missing the premieres of EVERY new season of the shows I watch?

I wonder if they're making Sarah gay now, they seem to be following the Captain Jack route of making the previously bi character gay because it's simpler then giving bi representation.

I mean, Sara's surrounded by an old and devotedly married guy, Captian tried to change time for his wife, Ray the boyscout who had way too much romance drama going on, Mick (enough said) and Jax, who is still not quite old enough to drink, technically speaking (although any episode now, what with that 6 month time gap) so I can understand why she's only having romances with ladies right now, tbqh.

why the hell does Eobard get to screw with time like this, but when Barry does it Dante dies and the timeline goes to shit without anything nice like getting Bette or Ronnie back in return. The Speedforce needs to start revoking privileges.

Except none of the females she's hooked up with are members of the team...

She's been hooking up with random women of history, she can do the same with men, hell she could have quipped that the king of France would have been welcome to join her and the queen.

...also there are no ladies on the team for the last six months, maybe she's sick of being around guys so when she's traveling in time she seeks out female company instead? I dunno.

That would work if this wasn't an ongoing issue from the first season.

Two things, men from most pre-modern era's probably make her knives itch within approximately 30 seconds, due to being patriarchal assholes, and being bisexual doesn't mean you have to be in the middle of Kinsey scale.

This was just really fun tv. Dinosaurs. Nazi's. Sara beating up puritans and sleeping with their daughters. And the JSA's entry was pretty snazzy too.

That Salem scene was pretty hilarious.

I wonder how the JSA found out about the Legends. I guess they must have a member who could figure it out. Or maybe another Time Traveler.

Mick's reaction to the Nazi's was also great.

Legends is back and sillier than ever. I'm loving it.

It was a pretty cool set-up, but it was hard to invest in the premise behind the dilemma because of the completely inaccurate way nuclear/atomic bombs are created. Einstein created the vital theories that made it possible but it took a large team of scientists and engineers to create the mechanics and actually make the bomb. It's not just knowing the math, tinkering with random electronics and having a decent stockpile of plutonium. Plus, plenty of other teams around the world were figuring out the same thing, Einstein didn't have some sort of magic touch.

I'm disappointed there wasn't a follow up to the dramatic ending of the first season, we're just told that Rex Tyler advised them not to go to a specific year. Including Oliver was interesting, but fell into a trap that he obviously can't join them there is otherwise little reason for him to be there other than providing continuity and an exploration sub. It makes you wonder who provided it and what questions they asked when Oliver returned. The rules of time travel were pretty well thrown out the window here, but in some ways that makes it easier to just tell stories and not try to claim they have the time travel mechanics under control. At least so far this season they are not trying to change history but keep it on track, making things cleaner.

All that aside, the episode overall had a really fun structure to it. It's a clever way of jumping into the middle of their adventures instead of starting over again. And it picks up on the idea in the first season that they become "legends" because of their exploits throughout history.

I know it was accurate. I kind of wish the writers took time to know the history so it would be more accurate.

a few things:

• Eobard has leagues more experience than Barry.
• He comes from a more scientifically-advanced society, so he presumably has more knowledge of how to avoid wonky time stuff.
• He never interferes in his own life. Barry caused Flashpoint and post-Flashpoint by directly interfering in his own life.
• Eobard is tuned to a different side of the speedforce from Barry. Therefore, it can be presumed that he plays by slightly different rules.

I've always understood Sara to be bi with a preference for girls. Come to think of it, Ollie may have been the only guy with whom she's slept.

It could be a case she has more specific preferances in terms of males then she does females.

Aha! I guessed the queen Sara sleeps with would be Anne of Austria. Although I should have guessed they would go for the "Evil Richelieu" plot once more - note that IRL, Richelieu was a case of Undying Loyalty, so him becoming so consistently evil never ceases to baffle me.

It was a very nice season opener. The tone is completely goofy but that's what the show is good for. I don't mind Sara having a clear preference in her bisexuality, because A) that was already the case in season 1 and B) how common is it to see a female character that goes through a lot of relationships without it being portrayed negatively? She even gets a trademark devilish smile whenever she has fun with a girl in an historical era where it would really not be accepted, like a positive version of The Corrupter.

Who wants to bet that the "Bhopal 1912" thing Stein mentions is what caused Einstein and Milena to divorce, and that it was Eobard playing the long game?

Alright, the show seems to want me to pay attention to this:

• Sara seduced the Queen. Since I'm no history major, and this is a time travel show where things tend to get pretty wacky, and because I already knew about this because of the trailer, and because Girl on Girl Is Hot, good on you LOT.
• Rip reminds us that Sara just bedded the Queen. Kay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
• The group goes to 1942. Two women are not so subtly sitting in a park obviously enjoying more than just the weather and are the only pair of women seen together in the entire scene. Bout as crazy as the odds of running into a lesbian nurse in the most racist, weremonkeypire-ridden town in America. Kay.
• Albert Einstein was a womanizer. Kay. True fax?
• (actual show dialogue)
  • Martin: When you are the only man on earth capable of performing such a feat.
  • Albert Einstein: Yeh. That is correct. I am the only man.
  • Rory: (beat) Waitaminute, you're saying there's some lady out there who can build an atomic bomb?
  • Albert Einstein: Wunderbar. Why am I talking to you (Martin, the physicist, like Einstein, just without the 'Ein') when you (the one who immediately, albeit clumsily grasps the concept of successful, important women in history) are clearly the brains of the operation? Without Mileva's help, I would still be working as a patent clerk in Vienna.
    • (translation) Without his wife Milena Maric, Einstein would've been a womanizing schmuck. Women are amazing creatures and love knows no gender. Okaaaaay show.

Anyway:

• Sara: Always the boyscout, aren't you Raymond? Aw, now that was just mean.
  • Also really Sara? Of all the people you could criticize for being Purity Sue/The Ace you choose Ray?
    • Ray totally deflected that. Sara must have hit home.
• Reformed! Rory just got choked by Oliver. Badass!Oliver is back.
• Ray's suit is having difficulty diffusing an atomic bomb... shit, what are the odds something like that would happen?
• Dang, this show reminds you that Darhk is actually supposed to be a badass from the League of Assassins. I love it when the hero shows up armed and the villain takes them apart anyway.
• Rip: Firestorm, cover Dr. Palmer and Sara!
  • Audience: FIRESTORM, ROAST DARHK, MURDER EVERYONE ON THE PIER, AND TAKE THE BOMB INTO THE BAY AND ABSORB THE BLAST LIKE YOU DID LAST TIME.
• Sara's knife throw.
• I kind of wish Darhk and Savage had met up.
• -Rip has Jax fix everything on the ship-
  • -Jax complains about having to fix things-
  • Rip: Mr. Jackson... have you ever watched a film from 1984 called The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita?
  • Jax: Ohhhh, you've been teaching me everything about the ship.

• So I guess they'll be using the Timescatter either by the end of this episode, or halfway through the season when the current plot gets flipped on its head.
• A Timeship from 25XX vs a U-Boat from the 1940's. If they somehow manage to screw this up...
• Holy crap they used the Timescatter 2/3 of the way through the episode!
• Jesus christ Rip, what the f'ck? That was your backup plan?
• "I don't have time to time travel." This is either one of Oliver's best lines, or one of his dumbest. Either way
  • So... does Oliver know how to pilot a submarine now? If they come back at the end of the season and he's been stuck on that sub for weeks...
• Ray, the genius, forced back to a time of dinosaurs. Stein and Jax, who transform, become court magicians. Sara, the lesbian, is the one whose seen as a witch. Also, she got laid again. Subtle. I swear she is the horniest team member.
• Also, did every single team member get saved right as they were about to be killed? I thought they were going to drag this out a bit more. Are we not going to learn a little bit about what each went through? Ray was there long enough to grow a full beard, so at least a week and a half, probably longer.
• At least Rip's personality is a little more optimistic. But you know what might have been a good way to save them Rip? GOING BACK IN TIME A SECOND TIME AND ARRIVING EARLIER TO STOP THE TORPEDO YOU M-
• Wait, isn't Gideon the AI that Eobard uses as well?
• Spoiler alert: Rip Hunter is the Big Bad this season. And he turns out to be Jay Garrick.

  • So like when Einstein was getting kidnapped by German spies Rory and Stein just walked him out of there, gun-toting Rick right behind them. But when Maric gets acknowledged for scientific contributions, the Justice Society immediately knows something's up and tracks down the Legends.
    • Sexist Justice Society from the 40's... that would be unexpected. Horrific but definitely unexpected.

There are two different AI's with the name Gideon. The one Eobard uses he stole from Barry Allen.

The one on the Waverider I have no idea who built her.

You can tell because they look different and have different actresses playing them.

Huh. That's interesting, don't know why it took me that long but since Thawne's here now it's interesting they gave them both the same name. Gideon sounds like one of those names with a really specific meaning that influenced why the show writers chose it.

The only other character I've heard of with that name is Gideon Graves from Scott Pilgrim.

...guess I'll be reading further. Or maybe the Flash Fridge page has something. It's not like all of the AI's have the same name so why those two? Plenty of Mythology Gag's they could've done like naming one Skeetz, or Indigo, etc.

Which also makes me wonder when they're going to introduce or at least hint at Booster Gold. Because this is the show where they need to do it.

Long been established that Rip Hunter is Worst Leader Ever. My one gripe is that I think each rescue should have had it's own episode with more detail on how each of them got to how they got into the situation they were being rescued from. I particularly want details on Sarah corrupting the women of Salem...for science.

I feel like that could be a miniseries.

With Sara going full Kate Beckinsale and hunting down the actual witches while being suspected herself, ending with the Team showing up and saving her.

This was definitely about three episodes worth of story in a one episode package.
