Would Doc be able to still be a time traveller in the Western AU? We've got a lot of possibilities there.

AU Idea Incoming:

Alternate Universe Name: MagicalGirls are the New Nuke
General Description: After humanity saved itself from invasion and eventual extinction by creating super soldiers dubbed as "Magical Girls," we see how humanity and the galaxy has fared as whole a century later. The devil's in the details, but its better than humanity's extinction and even worse beings ruling everything.

Setting: It will take places in a few locations about a century after the Earth beat back its first set of invaders. Humanity is now a the head of a galaxy spanning Republic with it at the forefront and made up of races that were former invaders who recognized Earth as a force to be reckoned with and has allied with humanity as result and races humanity had managed to liberate from their oppressors and joined out of being awestruck by the Magical girls to the point of worship despite not being the intention at all, but go with it because its convenient. In human society, meanwhile, Magical Girls are treated like rock stars, child psychology and medicine become hot career choices in order to keep humanity's greatest weapons healthy both physically and mentally, and Child Services have a special Cover Ops divisions which assigns Magical Girls to a randomly chosen guardian*

and have to full legal power, granted by the top authorities of the United Nations*

Events: There will be three major events going on:

• A group of extraterrestrials have formed a cult worshiping the Magical Girls as divine beings long ago. Despite being mostly harmless and kinda sad in a hilarious sorta way, they have been growing to be more of a nuisance over the years. However, the cult have started to become violent for the first time, attacking anything they perceive as an affront to their "Gods" no matter how minor the slight. Worse yet, the cult somehow is getting information on the civilian identities of the Magical Girls, which is the most heavily guarded secret humanity has next to the creation of Magical Girls. This suggests somebody in very high places is leaking this immensely sensitive information.

• A series of murders have been taking place across America, all of victims being young girl as young as eight being ritualistically torn to pieces. Worse yet, all the victims turn out to be Magical Girls while in civilian form. This is extremely bad a number of reasons: 1) Magical Girls, even in civilian form, are practically indestructible to anything short of the equivalent to being thrown into a sun and/or a blackhole, so whatever's used for cutting up these poor girls is something that has not been discovered yet; 2) The fact that Magical Girls are specifically targeted shows that the unsub is either in league with a human from a very high position of the government, or maybe even be a human in a very high government position; and 3) The obvious fact there's some sicko out there murdering young girls. Even if said girls are walking talking orbital Kill Sats this bastard still needs to be put down.

• The Irken Empire, the last known race truly hostile to humanity, are staging a simultaneous attack on various Earth colonies and the home planet itself. However, the are easily able to capture Magical Girls and former Magical Girls*
  basically Magical Girls who grew up into adulthood a still retain their powers
  , something believed to be impossible to do. Again, only someone from a high level government position could have tipped off the Irkens.....

Goal/Ending:
1) Either quell or even disband the Magical Girl worshiping cult before it goes full on terrorist organization.
2) Find the little girl murdering bastard and bring him to justice, either legally or cowboy style.
3) Stop the Irken invasion and rescue the capture Magical Girls before they're executed.
Golden Ending: Find the mole that's been leaking the sensitive information in the first place.

To make things not awkward, only female characters are allowed to be Magical Girls or adult women who were once Magical Girls (keeping their powers or not is optional). Guys, however, can be anything, from soldiers, random guys drafted into becoming Magical Girl guardians, both, or agents of the Covert Child Services.

I'm fine with old west, it sounds fun. I also propse that our second setting is two settings mentioned mixed together. I don't care which ones. (Also RE Magical girl AU would Elliot count as a magical girl in the world? That'd be hilarious)

Seems like we'll be starting with old west, but I wanna hear some more opinions.

Also, Scorpio, does your Western AU allow for supernatural elements, or should we keep it down to earth? Bean asked if Doc could still be a time traveller in it.

I'm going to say that supernatural elements are allowed, but they still should try to fit the setting. So the Doctor's time travel machine has to look like it's from the Old West. Weapons and origins of magic/super powers have to try to fit the setting too. It doesn't have to be a perfect fit or very serious though.

Yeah scaling down the powers and giving them an Old West feel might work. And maybe link them to an artifact too, even if your character normally doesn't use one. Everyone should be quickdrawing something in a Western.

Maybe she uses a good old fashioned slingshot or something. Whatever you guys think is cooler.

Slingshot quickdraw? I could see that. Snap the slingshot out of one pocket, the first stone out of the other, do a whipping motion in midair to snap the rock into the slingshot pouch... dayumn.

In that case, I guess I'll go with Transformer!BB, although obviously with a more appropriate alternate mode like a stagecoach or steam locomotive.

Well, guess Lotton should be pretty adaptable to a Wild West AU. Just gonna swap his Mausers for some cool-looking revolvers, give him a fancy duster, a swell hat and perhaps a matchstick/toothpick. To look cool, 'course.

Gotta say, I'm pretty excited about this.

I think I'll have Makoto be a really young bar owner who's parents were killed in a freak stagecoach accident that she somehow survived. Her electrical powers are a result of the lightning strike that struck the stagecoach years ago. She now has an irrational fear of four wheeled vehicles, sadly.

Well, obviously, Maud is going to be a rock farmer who wil go in a quest to retrieve her cows and, more importantly, the very precious rocks that were still on them when the bandits stole them. With the help of her slingshot and her incredible strength, she's gonna be their doom!
