WHY GOD WHY?

Even if you were to modernize Jem, why the holy fuck would you make it live-action? Coupled with this director's other efforts, I'm not holding out any hope for this to be decent, let alone good.

Maybe Hasbro's trying to do the blockbuster remake thing with everything they had in the 80s? I mean, Transformers was a smash hit, the G.I. Joe movies were successful, at least, and Battleship....okay that was kind of a dud.

This concept for this movie is outrageous.

Truly, truly outrageous.

OK if they're gonna keep making movies based on old TV shows and cartoons I want to bring a remote into the theater with me so I can see what's playing over on the other screens.

That wasn't even a good cartoon. And I dint think many people remember it. Maybe if the movie had actual holograms it would be worth seeing

[up][up] I liked it. And it's still mildly popular among a niche crowd.

[up][up] Standard marketing procedure.

Yeah, I get what they're trying to do with this whole "fan participation" thing, but I can already see it becoming disastrous. Should certainly be entertaining though.

Fuck it, I can't wait for Hasbro to say this, Bayformers, the Mt G movie SAGA (mid you, it's already planned as a SAGA or some shit,) the G.I. Joe movies and MLP:Fi M are all part of one shared universe.

Anything to speed up the end of this megafranchise bullshit, the better.

Aren't you all over-reacting a bit?

After all, there were complaints about the Bayverse Transformers, and look how popular THEY are now. Maybe it won't be as bad as you think.

Er, not to crap on your parade, but, aside from the fact that the topic's really old, the Bayformers films weren't really particularly good. G.I. Joe was even worse in that regard, so no, people don't really have much hope for this.

The Bayformers movies have acquired something of a fanbase even within the TF fandom itself, it's just that they have to stay silent otherwise they'll be cast to the torch by the rest of the fanbase.

I'm not actually a Jem and the Holograms fan, I just see bits and pieces of an episode now and a gain watching Teletoon Retro. I do remember hearing that there was going to be a new animated series based of the show, though I may have been hearing about the movie. Anyway I think you guys are going to want to see this. Well, not WANT to, but you probably need to watch this anyway.

I refuse to watch the trailer. I've heard enough bitching to know this is a In Name Only adaptation. Take out everything that makes it interesting (Synergy, hologram earrings, Misfits) and make it a generic "rise to fame" story where the main chachter ultimitly chooses friends over the evil music company telling her what to do.

Y'know, I completely forgot I even posted in this thread. Back then, I was probably trying to have fun with anticipating how bad this would be. But it seems I made too many assumptions, like assuming the "fan participation" thing was legitimate, or assuming they would make a Jem movie. I could've never forseen it being this bad.
