To start with, the last of the original Von Trapp Singers has died, Maria Von Trapp, 99, in Vermont. (This is the daughter of Captain Von Trapp, not her stepmother who was also named Maria. In the musical, they called her Louisa.)

This doesn't mean that you can't discuss their life or legacy, or express an opinion as to whether they escaped justice for their actions. But if that starts to become a longer conversation, there are other OTC threads that may be more appropriate.

Well, I hate to bust your bubble, but Here We Go Again!! The WBC freaks are gonna picket Nimoy's funeral and claim that "Mr. Spock's" "Live Long and Prosper" hand sign symbolized opening the gates of hell. These Westboro Baptist idiots don't even know that Nimoy was a Hebrew who served God until the end of his life, that the funeral would actually be a Jewish funeral, and that the hand sign actually symbolized the Hebrew letter Shin! Since their founder's death they've more often than not just made idle threats on social networking sites. The media practically salivates over WBC stories so it's a win-win for both with all of the advertising the latter receives without even having to waste money on gas and meals.
It's also because he facilitated Shatner's "God hating" (possibly making them the only ones who took Star Trek V: The Final Frontier seriously) and a few other things.

WBC was, I think, just making noise for the sake of Were Still Relevant Dammit. The actual funeral has come and gone (As I understand it, Judaism requires burial shortly after death, barring unusual circumstances), and WBC didn't show up.
