Super Metroid is near perfect in every way, in my eyes.
I'm also expecting a lot of Batman: Arkham City to be brought up, and to be fair Arkham City was awesome. (I still like Arkham Asylum aesthetically more, but gameplay-wise Arkham City fixed any and all flaws from the first game.)

Join my forum game! Not sure. Depends on the category. Probably would go with The Binding Of Isaac, though.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Fallout: New Vegas, but maybe that's just because it appeals to my tastes.
Oh, and Team Fortress 2.
...Honestly, not really. Games like Majora's Mask come really close for me, but barely at a 9.
I just can't find a game that perfect. There's always a downside to it. Whether Fake Difficulty, unbearable music, or a really really poorly done storyline. Or otherwise.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Ys 1&2. EDIT: And Metal Gear Solid 3.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Metal Gear Solid 3, Fallout New Vegas and Mass Effect 2
Oh really when?Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics. The first because it had the single best translation of any JRPG in history, the second because even though it was notoriously poorly translated it had awesome gameplay and one of the best stories in gaming history.
I have two:
- The World Ends With You
- Golden Eye 64.
Chrono Trigger, Deus Ex, Psychonauts, The Stanley Parable
Bastion and Portal 2 both come close to the mark, though not quite making it.

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI don't often give games that high a score, even ones that I like, but to name most of the games that I do: Persona 3 & 4, Dark Souls, Metal Gear Rising, Silent Hill 2, and Baldur's Gate 2.
Edit: Considering that I named more games than most people in this thread, maybe I do tend to give more "high scores" for games than I thought.

Planescape Torment. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about that game was the combat.
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIBoth Portal games, both Mario Galaxies, every main Kirby game ever, and Binding of Isaac.

Your Honor...ET: The Extraterrestrial.
And then there was silencePlenty, actually.
Crappy ending aside... Mass Effect 3. It's definitely not perfect, due to the often-lamented ending and the removal of the vehicles from ME 1 and ME 2, but in my opinion the combat was perfect, and the rest of the plot was solid... except for the cause of the new Geth-Quarian war. Yeah, that was pretty dumb too.
Another nomination would be Metal Gear Solid 3. Excellent story, awesome boss battles, a good selection of items, and definitely replayable, and hands-down the best final boss fight I've ever played to cap it all off. Only flaw would be the somewhat stiff gameplay controls and camera angles, but those are minor gripes compared to the rest of the package.
I need to add Spec Ops The Line to my list.
That entire game was something else, very few works in any media have hit me as hard as that game did.
Oh really when?Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is one for me. That game was simply a part of my adolescence.

Oh, I forgot Metroid Prime.
If I were an actual critic... probably none of the games I've played. There are always flaws that push them ever-so-slightly lower than that.
I'd say The Walking Dead comes close, but that's just because I'm madly in love with that game.

What are some videogames you consider near-perfect?
