Hey everyone! Had no idea this thread existed until...well, today, obviously.

Been single for over a year now. T'was great at first, but now...eh, it's a state of living. How's everyone?

Just discovered this thread. I hoped being bi would mean I'd be twice as likely to become attached...turns out, not so much. *headdesk*

Well, statistically speaking, it would only make you 10(ish)% more likely to find someone.

There's gay and bi people of your gender, plus straight and bi people of the other gender. It doesn't really double it, since the bi your gender, gay your gender, bi people other gender is much smaller than straight other gender.

Only not everyone fits into the binary gender model.

Yeah, I've heard of gay people unwilling to date bi people out of the fear that they'll leave them for a person of the opposite gender, and straight people unwilling to date bi people because of reasons.

I can't remember if I've ever posted in this thread before or not, but here goes nothing. I'm 33 (about to be 34 in early March), heterosexual, male, and I've been an eligible bachelor my entire life.

I've had a few one-sided crushes, mostly in my high school and college days, but so far, All Love Is Unrequited for me. And my adult life as it is now affords me few opportunities to even meet women, with most of my hobbies being either male-dominated or completely solitary activities. And going to bars doesn't really appeal to me, because I very rarely drink alcohol, and I'm looking for something with a little more substance than a drunken one night stand.

That said, I haven't completely given up hope. While I've never had a full-on girlfriend, the women I've felt attracted to over the years have never been outright repulsed by me. And just last year, I met someone I saw potential in. While she turned out to already be seeing someone when I asked her out, she at least let me down gently. And the experience showed me that it's a least possible to find some prospects despite my introverted personality and solitary hobbies.

Try a dating app? And don't send dick pics, that's just crass.

I never understood why people send dick (or any other private parts) pics, especially when there's no intimacy between them.

I blame the internet and its tendency towards "privacy? what privacy?" mentality (just look at any amateur porn section. Yeah, I know, but the only line that seems to be a thing anymore is the age of consent (and sometimes not even that, as the proliferation of you-know-what Rule 34 shows.) Smh *headdesk*

I never got the point of them, either. Aside from potentially getting arrested for it, it's just gross.

As an aside, I've thought about using a dating app, but I'm not sure which one I should use.

I like how the lesbian equivalent of the dick pic is showing off your hands.

From a little ways before my first post:

If you've never been in a relationship when you turn a certain age, you gain wizard powers.

That's the rumor, anyway.

Well, I became a Planeswalker at 27, does that count? My spark was ignited by a desperate need to get out more tongue. I now spend most Thursday nights playing Magic at a nearby comic book shop. It's a hobby that gets me out of the house, but unfortunately, Planeswalking is still not nearly as gender-diverse in Real Life as WotC strives to make it In-Universe.

Try a dating app? And don't send dick pics, that's just crass.

I have an OkCupid profile, but I haven't logged into it in months. I did answer plenty of its pairing questions, but it never gave me any matches I felt really compelled to reach out to.

And don't worry, I know better than to send dick pics.

Aside from potentially getting arrested for it, it's just gross.

Exactly. If you did that to someone in person, you'd definitely get arrested! I'm much rather be a Chivalrous Pervert than some creep like that.

It depends, really.

If you're after a lady, dick pics are frowned-upon. However, they're basically currency among GB males.

Also, I think that female-directed dick pics result from two phenomena:

1. When it comes to arousal, men are much more visually-oriented than women. Thus, men assume that women want to see their junk.

2. Men send dick pics because they want tit pics in return.

Somebody decided to see what would happen if a woman's account sent men vagina pics as an opener, and pretty much all of the random men who received them were thrilled to see where this new development would lead, because if you take a random selection of straight men on dating sites, you will turn up a mostly terrible sample.

OK Cupid just sent a mass email affirming their openness to all individuals of all nationalities, races, religions, orientations, and genders. I think they said their users identify as something like 29 different genders.
