I think in an abstract way it really does look like a know-it-all smile of red lips on a mysterious woman. I don't know how else you would show general mysteriousness.

I don't think it harms the page. Mostly just an artistic image, but I find it somewhat thought-provoking with a heavy "unknown" factor, which does add to the page.
