Same picture of Dumbledore than on Wizard Beard, just centered differently.

Not much hint of the Eccentric Mentor on this page. Though that's probably a hard one to illustrate. At least, we should pick someone with an even more outlandish outfit.

He does look a little bit not all there. It's also kind of weak on the wizard aspect for the other trope. I think we can do better on both. I don't have a suggestion off the top of my head, though.

I think this fits best on Eccentric Mentor.

Wizard Beard is easy to replace, just GIS it. For instance.

Agree on keeping it on Eccentric Mentor: He looks like a weirdo to me and also like a mentor, pose-wise.

Obligatory LotR suggestions for Wizard Beard: Saruman, the White, Gandalf, the Grey

Alternatively, for Eccentric Mentor: Mister Miyagi

The problem with any picture for Eccentric Mentor is that you might be able to show eccentric but mentor isn't really something you can see. I think the Karate Kid image would require knowledge of the story to see the connection.

Wizard Beard isn't a big deal but it's more noticeable without the big hat and with clothes that contrast in color.

A possible suggestion for Eccentric Mentor is the second panel of this spliced with the first panel of this.

[up][up] I dunno... I think the Japanese naval flag headband Daniel-san is wearing does hint that he's supposed to be training hard in something - the likeliest being some Japanese martial arts. Combined with Mister Miyagi getting him to polish his car for him shows that Mister Miyagi's methods are somewhat unorthodox.

I prefer Dumbledore to Miyagi, personally. For starters he is way more eccentric.

The trouble is that there's duplication between Eccentric Mentor and Wizard Beard. So... motion to switch the topic towards finding a replacement for Wizard Beard?

I kind of like the current on Eccentric Mentor, and I like 5.1 this one for Wizard Beard.

That Mr. Miyagi image should go to Trickster Mentor if anything. Or, you know... Wax On, Wax Off.

The headband help sells it to me in that regard... it looks like he's doing a menial chore, but the skinny white kid in a headband makes me think that he's training for something under the Japanese guy. But that requires some foreknowledge of the Martial Arts Headband trope.

But it's not really a good fit for Eccentric Mentor. If we could get an image of him catching flies with chopsticks, that would work better (more eccentric), but I can't find one that doesn't just look like he's holding up chopsticks.

The thing I don't like about the Saruman image is that the bear is white on white, with white hair around it. It's also not really unnaturally long, which kind of diminishes it a little.
