Walk the Moon got a proper hit? Awesome.

Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.

Who the hell's Walk the Moon?

Also, Rihanna also got "Four Five Seconds" in the top 10, so it's not like her star's fallen.

It's nice to see Walk The Moon got some exposure, though I'd prefer if they'd charted with "Anna Sun" rather than this.

I just heard "Trap Queen" for the first time. It sounds like your typical urban song. I'm guessing it went viral through Vine or something?

I don't know much about Walk The Moon, but I'm glad to see that song become a hit. It has a Power Pop sound that I like and would like to see more of on the pop charts. I heard the song about a month ago when it was low on the charts and I thought it had a chance at crossing over, and I was right!

I rather like Shut up and Dance it's got a nice rock edge to it, and you can dance to it which is good as a song demanding that you shut up and dance that you couldn't dance would be rather crap.

It turns out I've heard Walk the Moon before as You Tube went directly to the next song Anna Sun and I've definitely heard it before.

Mariah Carey's "Shake It Off" came on my Pandora a few hours ago. It's astonishing how much more believable Mariah's defiance is compared to Taylor Swift's. I noticed that they have similar hooks as well: Mariah's goes, "Shake, shake, shake, shake it off," while Taylor's goes, "Shake it off, shake it off, off, off, off."

I know it's a bit unfair to compare Taylor "Loves the Letter X" Swift to a '90s musical legend like Mariah Carey, but still.

Mariah's record about to be SNATCHED. What a tragedy.

Trap Queen has had a long journey since it's release last summer. Glad to see it doing so well. Too bad the rest of Fetty's mixtape sucks.

Also really happy for Walk the Moon's mainstream breathrough. Still, I would have preferred Anna Sun or any of the last album's singles to have done it instead. Their self titled albums is leagues above their basic follow up 'Talking Is Hard". I stanned for Tightrope so hard during 2013, only for the song to go nowhere on the charts. It's still #1 in my heart.

[up] Are you active on Pulse Music Board, perchance? I lurk there every once in a while to look at the pop music and Billboard chart discussions, while observing the Hot 100 weekly. I know they use the term "stan" a lot to describe a big fan of a band or artist. On top of that, they hold pop divas like Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Britney Spears in high regard.

[up]Actually I've never heard of the place. 'Stan' is a pretty broad term that's been around the internet since the Eminem song made it a thing. And yes, I do stan for a lot of pop divas, but they don't represent all I listen to.

I'm kind of horrified to see people using the term "Stan" in an ostensibly positive light.

I'm kind of concerned for the people actually named "Stan", a concern I have every time I see a given name gaining a contemporary meaning.

For the most part, I think Internet culture has a tongue-and-cheek approach to the term "Stan", since few fans will live up to the namesake. (Let's keep it that way.) I don't refer to myself as one anyways.

Yeah, at least it's safe to say most "stans" in that context wouldn't be willing to drive drunk and drown their significant others.

As far as we know.

The gay community took the term stan and turned it into a more positive light. Sorry you guys are so behind.

G.enerations A.head. of Y.esterday ;)

You could say I stan for Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, Nicki Minaj, and Azealia Banks. I wouldn't like stalk, kidnap or physically harm them in any way. It's just easier to say than "I'm a fan of", ya know?

How is it easier? I'm not sure being a "Stan" tells everyone instantly what you mean, since it's not as well-established term as being a fan. And besides, it's a letter longer.

Jeremih's chorus parts in Natalie La Rose's "Sombody" grind my gears and I'm sure they do the same for some of you. Lyrically, they are almost entirely based on not one but two other songs, as if it's difficult to write an original chorus for yet another simple-minded song. Anyway, those two other songs are Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and LMFAO's "Shots".

It troubles me to see Ms. Houston's name being written in a sentence with that pair of douches.

Yeah, I'm kind of antipathetic towards slapping two tracks together into one and calling it your own song. I mean if I heard "Somebody" without prior knowledge I would just call it a mash-up.

I'm especially critical if people do that to songs which I'm particularly fond of, which is the case with "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".

It's kinda funny how fragilelamplight stans for both Gaga and Azealia. :P

At any rate, I don't really stan over pop stars.

[up][up] I have no problem with people stanning for any musician. In my opinion, stanning for anyone is actually rational unless the stan doesn't respect other peoples' views. I'm talking about those stans who can't stand any criticism towards their idols, not even criticisms by true fans that appear as useful constructive advice.

[up] I don't see how that's funny. Do you think that's the case because a loud minority of Gaga's fandom hates anyone else who may steal the spotlight from Gaga?

[up][up]well there was a time when Gaga and Azealia did get on, and they did have three collab songs lined up, so it made sense at the time. Besides, I will admit that Broke With Expensive Taste is a far more enjoyable listen than ARTPOP, although I also adore that album.

[up]I'm pretty sure everyone left in the Gaga stanbase has resigned themselves to the fact she'll be releasing jazz standard albums for the rest of her career and will never regain her Fame/Monster relevancy. That is a rather pessimistic view, however, as her Sound of Music tribute this year as well as her Grammy wins show the public and critics can still be there for her as long as the material and timing is right.

[up][up] I was asking if I was using the term correctly, but thanks.

Also, weren't the Gaga/Azealia collabs dropped because Azealia called someone a f*g? That's what I heard; I may be wrong.
