TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Is Wanderlust just trying to make a definition, or an Index?

I say axe.

OK, so I've moved Scarfolk Council to Blog/. That said (as I told the troper who made it), the page is exampleless; if it doesn't get examples it will be cut too.

I've cutlisted Wander Lust and messaged the troper.

Also, I've found Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse - exampleless work page.

I found this orphaned blank article Master Of His Domain, which seems like a mislaunch of Master of Your Domain (ykttw archive) from 2010 with the same examples. I suggest cutlist, since there's no need for a redirect with no inbounds and no wicks.

Yes. And in the wrong namespace to boot.

I'll try to remember to get to some of the pending stuff when the wiki starts actually working for me again. (Pages are loading completely blank, and have stopped reloading properly on refresh.)

But anyway, when going through the un-typed pages list, I came across Music from "The Elder". It's a page for a KISS album. I'm thinking it should maybe go under recap, as we don't usually do Music/ pages for individual albums, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Okay, the wiki is back to semi-working. Retool.Live Action Television is the lone subpage for Retool. Should probably be at least indexed on that page, but I can't for the life of me remember whether you have to change the page type to "does indexing" or put the index tags in first. :/

For George Starostin, your guess is as good as mine. He seems to be primarily a music critic, and I'm not sure how we've handled other critics' pages.

Music from "The Elder": That's the proper namespace, in my mind.

Retool: I would try "set indexing" then the tags.

Starostin: I'll probably wait for some Wiki Magic there.

In general: It's good if people contribute more to this topic, especially since semester's started for me and is going to suck up a lot of time.

Anyhow, two more items from the new pages feed:

^ Adaptation Dye-Job has a lot more than 2 examples. Are you thinking of another page, perhaps?

As the two are both "character in one medium has different hair color than the same character in another medium", and Adaptation is a lot better known, I'd say make sure the entries on Adaptational are already on Adaptation and move if not, then redirect Adaptational to Adaptation.

All examples were already there, so I just redirected it.

Should we put a note in the YKTTW Guidelines that recommends double-checking the grammatical correctness of a trope-to-be's title before launching? Because as this case seems to demonstrate, "Adaptational Dye Job" sounds more grammatically proper than "Adaptation Dye Job".

The Coco Chanel page should be either in Creator/ or Useful Notes/.

^^Maybe. I am just worried of adding too much material on that page.

^I am willing to wait for more edits on that page, and then make a decision.

Anti-Hero Team was launched with two hats and a minimal description. It should be sent back to YKTTW.

Edit: About Coco Chanel—it looks like a clear-cut Useful Notes case to me.

Let's just say and leave it at that.

Hats aren't necessary, but the YKTTW never addressed the well deserved "Description Needs Help" tag. It's so short and mostly just saying that it's Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

And any time a YKTTW gets launched the second three days are up is a bit worrisome.

Bootstrap Mechanic: Unclear name, seems to have launched with no YKTTW, unclear description, no examples. Don't know if it was made recently or not, but I can't think of a single reason not to just cutlist it.

I did for Bootstrap Mechanic, but I've run across another: Cosmetic Confinement is a close cousin of Go-Go Enslavement with only one example. Is it worth keeping?
