For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

The Shadow is another movie we should definitely see, by the way.
That one we actually have seen a long, long time ago. It wound up getting a , but it's certainly an eventful movie.
And, yeah, I'm aware of the "connection" between Darkman and The Shadow—Darkman being created just because Sam Raimi wanted to obtain the rights to The Shadow but was unable to do so.
Darkman also spawned two less stellar direct-to-video sequels that would be worth getting to, as well.
Hell, Star Wars was created because George Lucas couldn't get the rights to Flash Gordon! And Mega Man was created because Capcom was unable to get the rights to Astro Boy.
Sometimes an expy can become a cultural icon in itself.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!I was under the impression that Mega Man was an homage to Casshan/Casshern (a 70s series), but it's likely both were inspired by Tezuka's work.
Our anniversary retrospective continues tonight with a look back at the start of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., beginning at the top of the coming hour.
But first up, swing by now for a look back on the first episode of The Guyver anime series and classic obscure album reviews from the great Mark Prindle.

Hey. Just dropping by to say that I'll probably be absent on Friday and Saturday, since I'm going to Lisbon to see some old friends of mine.
I assume the three year celebrations have been going well. Enjoy the movies. I'll be back here on Sunday (if I don't get too tired from being 4 hours on a train).
Sounds like a lot of fun. I bid you a safe trip and an enjoyable weekend. I'd be hopeful to have you with us on Sunday, if all goes well, and will remain eager to see you around later in the month. The anniversary festivities have gotten off to a great start, so far, and the weekends this month will be nothing short of amazing.
Anyway, tonight we'll be aiming to honor our King of 70's Blaxploitation—The one and only Rudy Ray Moore, who we have enjoyed in memorable turns as The Godfather of the Disco, Petey Wheatstraw--The Devil's Son-in-Law, and (of course) Dolemite.
The 70's Blaxploitation genre, by and large, hasn't had an easy time of winning a good reception from us (most these movies we have seen are lucky to somehow average a ), but the one film of this era that has managed to win us over, by and large, is the greatly improved sequel to Dolemite—The Human Tornado (). THIS is the sort of movie that the 1970's grindhouse needed more of. (Plus, we're eschewing Kung Fu Friday this week for the annual Terrible Friday tradition tomorrow, and this movie will more than makes up for that).

Everything's short and simple tonight.
First up, the we continue from where we left off last night next chapter in the saga of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
After that, at the top of the coming hour, Rudy Ray Moore returns as DOLEMITE, MOTHER FUCKER, in the off-the-wall, ass-kicking, crazy excitement of The Human Tornado.

Here's a VICE mini-documentary on Wakaliwood and their DIY filmmaking of goofy action movies. Pretty cool.

I just found out there's a 2012 movie adaptation of Chakan: The Forever Man. Does anyone know anything about this?

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I am really excited for seeing that 2014 CGI Tarzan movie. It looks soooo stupid, and it being recommended by the same guy who suggested to me the ★★★-rated Killer Bean Forever, I'd say so far he's getting a good track record of finding enjoyable bad.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Keeping all this in mind. Although, I'd first want to check out the notoriously awful Tarzan: The Ape Man. We've already checked out Tarzan in Manhattan ().
Anyway, it's the once-a-year tradition with absolutely no fun in it—Terrible Friday, in honor of our first-ever Friday gathering which was a complete, utter disaster (we watched Hard Rock Zombies that night; more on that later).
This year, things are gonna be really bad, as we line up the dreadful trainwreck that is Urban Menace.
Funny enough, while Ice-T and the other rappers filling out the cast and soundtrack steal all the attention, it's easy to miss that this pizza shit was directed by the man who famously gave us Schwarzenegger's and Jesse Ventura's buddy Sven-Ole Thorsen getting shot to shit by a frail old lady, also directed a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie that opened the door for a kick-ass sequel with Michael Ironside, Jack Pallance, BILLY DRAGO, and Angelina Jolie's first-ever leading role.
Even weirder, the screenplay (if we are willing to believe Urban Menace HAD a screenplay) was penned by Tim Story, who would go on to direct Barbershop, last decade's Fantastic Four movies, Ride Along, and movies based on Steve Harvey's dating advice for men. One hell of an odd track record.
But there you go. This is Urban Menace and this is gonna SUCK!
And, as an added bonus, Real Reviews on a Really Awful Movie, lifted straight from the 'Urban Menace' IMDb page...
1/10 for acting, directing, story
10/10 for the mumbling fat man

You know, during the movie, I think we should make it a point to look for all the things the review mentioned!
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Believe me, you don't have to look too hard for any of this. The only thing I'd point out in advance is that every drop of blood there is in Urban Menace (which Ice-T warns the easily offended about), can be measured in teaspoons (maybe two, at most)! The one shot where blood is most prominently featured is a CGI effect of a single drop and redding eyes.
On a completely unrelated note, tuning in to Jon Stewart's final night on The Daily Show last evening, of all the show's past "correspondents" to make an appearance to bid Jon goodbye, the biggest charge I got was from seeing Vance DeGeneres (Ellen's older brother) make a return without missing a beat. His exaggerated exposés and "Tale of Survival" segments were some of the show's best material in Stewart's first years hosting and aren't remembered anywhere near as much as they deserve to be, and seeing him back on a show like last night's is awesome. Vance DeGeneres is cult comedy.
Choice vids for your entertainment:
- "The Great Blackout of 2000"
- "Fur and Loathing" (costumed mascot abuse)
- Thermo-Nuclear BBQ Sauce, Part 1
- "The Ice Cream Man Cometh"
- Tampa, FL Lap Dance Ordinances
- "Doty for President" (The man at the center of this piece went on to become a recurring figure throughout The Daily Show's coverage of the 2000 US Presidential Election and was given the Moment of Zen when Jon Stewart announced news of his passing three years later)
Alright, we're doing this!
Starting a bit early to squeeze in the next episode in the saga of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. And taking a look back on the kind of bullshit we endured on the very first Terrible Friday three years ago while watching Hard Rock Zombies (it's way more entertaining in a heavily abridged format).
Then, after that, at the top of the coming hour, we get to the main attraction for this year's Terrible Friday—the far worse video atrocity, Urban Menace, starring Snoop Dogg as a preacher who seeks revenge against street gangsters that took his family (and church), with narration by Ice-T, and screen direction by none other than the unparalleled Albert Pyun.

I gotta say, the movie was a lot more fun the second time, now that I spotted the things to mock. The dialog scenes that are blatantly filmed in two different rooms. The total lack of blood. The odd white glow on everything that makes it painful to look at. And, oh yeah, I especially love the "choke" that clearly took place across two different filming sessions without the actors in the same area. The guy slaps the camera, then we see the woman react. It's so obvious the two actors weren't in the same room together.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!I thought the "choke" part was Big Pun "slashing the woman's throat". Understandably, Big Pun had nothing in an open palm that could have cut her and, of course, there is no blood, but with the sound effect heard during the swipe and the way the actress clutches her throat and gags, that's what I thought they were going for. It wouldn't be Urban Menace if shit like that could be clearly understood by the viewer, though; I don't think there's anything in that movie that can be clearly understood.
In other news, tonight we're looking forward to a lot more fun with the great Brad Dourif stealing the show by effectively portraying Heath Ledger's Joker 14-years ahead of him. No bullshit, this is really true! (So when does Brad win his Oscar award statuette?)
And so that means we got Death Machine for ourselves tonight, and, holy donuts, this movie friggin' rocks!
NOTE: Do take every precaution to bear in mind that this amazingly entertaining movie will be starting a half-hour early @ 7:30 PM (EDT); consequently, tonight's episode of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. will also begin much earlier, @ 6:45 PM (EDT).

I might not be able to make it tonight. There's been a power cut and I don't know when it'll be fixed.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faer"They say cats have nine lives. You have only one..."
Our all-time favorite movie about a killer mutant cat that hides inside another cat is back tonight, with the odd likes of George Kennedy, Alex Cord, and Clu Gulager served up to the beast alongside completely unknown twentysomething young actors.
Fun Fact: After we first watched this in October 2011, Everything Is Terrible were e-mailed about this, and immediately went wild about it (and remained that fond of it ever since). All thanks to us. What cutting-edge bad movie trendsetters we all are!

I'm so fucking ecstatic, I'm in tears! I can't help it, honest!
It's so beautiful, and I never thought this would ever happen. And just like that, Halloween can't come quickly enough.
That reminds me of a time in high school where my English Lit teacher made some off-hand remark about the effects in Spider-Man being on par with Darkman while being completely unaware that that both films were from the same director.
