All Purpose Super Robot Wars Fanfiction Thread

Depends on if you can give a good reason for the OG people to be there. If not, you have J, where the OG people pretty much don't interact much with others. If you only sort of do, then you get GC, where you have the characters do some stuff, but it still seems slightly tacked on - at that point, I would consider a small OG cast (a main villain, a hero or two, ect) to be nice. If you can fully bend mythos in the way W did, then OG is a great idea. (I would say Z, but since Z had Orguss in it, it kind of figures OG would work.)

For instance, in SE, four of the five main characters are completely blended in. One of the four works for the IPO (which contains Mythrill, if you've forgotten.), has worked with Sousuke Sagara's squadron but more directly works in Roger Smith and Dan Daustun's area of business.

Another of the four is on the Solo Ship, and ends up getting caught in the whole "two different lunar empires fused together into a gestalt death group" while also fighting off the Radam. This group will eventually join the first group (the military is going to take the Solo Ship, the Idaho, and what will remain of the Space Knights in), be joined by Kokuboga, effectively bribe NERV into working with them, and then procede to destroy stuff.

Third will have gone to school with a certain pile-bunkering mecha fanboy, will have reasonable relationships with the requisite Super Robot labs, and their group is going to be joined by Texas Mack and a certain bot from Jersey. I believe it's a good time to note Dai Guard will probably be a Post-Script Season, because thinking about how events are going to work, a lot of motivations are going to make more sense if the massive Heterodyne already attacked Tokyo-2.

Fourth is going to be the most interesting in terms of plot and the most boring in terms of action - s/he is inside the sealed Tokyo in a school with the main cast of Rah Xephon and another show, as well as Musashi (yes, he lives. Probably for the whole thing, I don't have the heart to let him die.). While their plot stuff is important (the very important fifth character is hiding in there, but he won't be seen until near the middle as of current plan.), unfortunately the battles themselves will be samefail until the way through is smashed (probably by accident by third group, most likely related to Megas XLR).

Once that happens, however, the fic will start the meat of it - the first and second group trying to fend off stuff from space, the group on Earth taking out things on another dimension (this is starting to sound like Shin Super Robot Wars, which is sad because that one was terrible), and while they'll occasionally intersect it won't be until the late-middle that they fully join into one organization. (still trying to think of the name, though it will probably be an insane acronym).

...it is only now I realize how much Kotetsushin Jeeg would have been nice to throw in. Oh well, it won't fit now, and there's no use crying over spilt milk.

I've already decided I probably won't bother with Original Generation, unless you count Musha Gundam.

Anyway, I still need to review everything I'm putting in and decide on what events to employ so I can work on plot-welding.... although I think I'll need to have the first half of Tekkaman Blade happen really damn fast or else change the order of a few events in order to line up with a certain event from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and while I already have plans for another unrelated joint event, I need to figure out what point in the Gao Gai Gar timeline I want it to happen.

Ah well, at least I've got an outline of plot points for Mazinger Z, even if the Jet Scrander and Boss Borot pretty much came out of nowhere in the manga.

Or you hold off that moment in Mobile Fighter G Gundam. I mean, the Radam attacking are KIND OF A BIG DEAL and I'm sure the Earth's government would rather there be an Earth to govern.

Just finished reading the manga for Zeorymer a few hours ago, and I'm thinking of adding it to the fic as well on account of how short it is (ie, pretty much the same reason Banpresto keeps using Endless Waltz by itself). Gotta say though, the mech designs in Zeorymer are pretty cool...

Isn't Zeorymer on the list of top ten most overpowered robots by virtue of being virtually unbeatable with that crazy interdimensional replacement it has? Or is that Ova Zeorymer?

Admittedly I didn't know there was an actual list of top ten most overpowered robots, but yeah, I would put Zeorymer pretty high up there.

That said, Zeorymer does have weaknesses - for most of the story, they don't have access to the true dimensional joint, and therefore have to keep making cheap knockoffs that only last for two weeks at a time. And if one of them conks out in the middle of a battle, any damage Zeorymer sustains is transferred directly to Miku, which makes it ridiculously likely that she'll die unless Masaki retreats back to base right damn now. And if Miku or Masaki should ever die, then Zeorymer is forever useless after that.

... But yeah, in hindsight, I probably won't use Zeorymer after all because, well, it's kinda.... weird....

I wonder if anyone will ever try to fit Bokurano into SRW. Either officially or in a fanfic. Not only is the setting bleak as hell, the power levels and feats of power (mostly in the manga) are absurd for ground bound, non planet busting mechas.

Not that it stopped the producers before.

Actually, I have considered using Bokurano, but I probably never will.

For something completely differerent. Do anyone know how big a full sized Tesla Drive is supposed to be? The ones that go on the Space Noah class battleships.

It's for future reference. Mostly to know if it's possible to fit one into a Jaeger.

If you're going to add Jaegers, add the Matsumoto 14 and the groinsaw-equipped Russian counterpart.

Also, for hilarity, how would Ryusei and Setsuna react with each other?

Series that had not had much spotlight in the past: Eureka Seven, Mazinkaiser SKL, Megazone 23 Part 1 and Part 2, New Getter Robo

Other Series like Gurren Laggan, Turn A Gundam, Combattler V and Gundam Seed Destiny (Plot line has been rewritten)

Plot Summary: Their going to be a big war between the forces of Mars and the Megazone 23.

So it's a bit to late to add the series to SE (I'll probably add it to a future fic filled with those series I couldn't put in SE - Kotetsushin Jeeg, King Gainer, Xabungle, Escaflowne, the works), but has anyone thought of using Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure to a SRW fic?

Granted, the ending might need some careful writing, but I could totally see it work in a style like SRW L did - two universes, different sets of robots on each side, ect

Apparently I like using this thread to bounce out ideas exploring the psyche of Super Robot pilots. In addition to my idea where Shinji Ikari watches an enemy pilot die in front of him and realizes that's what he and his fellow pilots have been doing every time they step into the cockpit, and that those other pilots are either unaware of this or have brushed that aside, and then locks himself in his room and never steps into EVA Unit 01 for the remainder of the story.

Now I've got one where Pacific Rim joins the wars; the Shatterdome Rangers are recruited to join in the battle. All the crews are called in, except with Gipsy Danger, Mako Mori has been very noticeably omitted. Beckett confronts the SRW officer in charge over this, and he explains his reasoning: he's seen the video of the White Rabbit incident, and doesn't want a repeat of that happening with much more expensive equipment like Gundams, Mazingers and the like likely to get damaged or destroyed. He doesn't believe that the benefits of having the full Gipsy Danger team outweigh the risk of Mako having another incident, and then he says that Raleigh should be happy he's allowed to go at all, given his own issues with the machine. Unlike the Shinji idea, I see this one going towards reconstruction rather than deconstruction, with Raleigh and Mako deciding to work twice as hard to prove that they've beaten their demons and both deserve to be on this mission.

So. Ryoma Nagare and Hayato Jin drag Gendo Ikari through his own past, Gai Daigouji effectively grabs him by the face and gives him a reality check about the present, and then the Anti-Spiral shows him a seemingly-inevitable Bad Future where everything he's worked for has proved futile, with gratuitous mecha battles sprinkled throughout the story for no real reason.

That's right.

Okay, been watching Robotech, and now I want to incorporate the Macross saga into that SRW fic...

Possibly by having the wars before Macross' crash landing having been caused by Second Impact, so moving the Macross' crash-landing a few years back, the basic setup can actually line up rather nicely.

So some of you might re-call my Getter Robo Fanfic idea from the previous page, but I recently came up with another spin on it.....

Take the Characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion, and put them in the Getter.

Hilarity would run completely rampant.

So it's Shinji for Getter-1; his arc would be similar with what he goes through in various adaptations, while taking his Berserker tendencies and mixing it with the infamous Bat-Shit Ryouma incident from New (and apparently other versions as well). He gets better, he falls down (and hard) he tries to leave, he comes back when he realizes walking away isn't so easy, and where he ends up is something I haven't decided yet.

Asuka gets Getter-2; she's a bit tougher since her personality is nothing like Hayato or any of the Getter-2 pilots(with the exception of Armageddon Kei, who was pretty hot-blooded) although I admit, there are still a lot of versions I haven't seen yet, so I can't 100 per-cent confirm that the Getter-2 pilot is always the blue one. I'm not sure where to take her yet, and how to tie it to Hayato's own development, but I could relate his mellowing with her defrosting and acceptance of Shinji, and even coming to care about him.

Rei gets Getter-3; Now for the most part, there's little resemblance between her and any of the three pilots, who are all either Fat Bastard types or have Stout Strength. However, if you take Musashi and —to a lesser extent—Benkei into account, there is one aspect of her character you can relate to them. So yeah, Rei will die at some point, possibly multiple points, and it will be played for Tragedy. Asuka and Shinji will start getting suspicious at her surviving things that should be impossible to survive, until the secret is revealed. A dark lampshade on the tendency for the third pilot to die.

Getter Rays can be an offshoot of the Angels, or vice versa, and the angels can be a mix of the original series angels, and the different enemies that have appeared in Getter: The Dinosaur Empire, the Thousand Year Demons, The invaders from Armageddon, the Oni from New, and some guys from the Manga like that Rando dude They(The Getter Rays) can also be responsible for somethings with Rei as well, as unlike her canon version, this Rei keeps her memories of the previous Reis, with only vague memories of her deaths at first.

I'll have them pilot the original Anime version at first, but then it gets damages, and the Getter Rays will rebuild it into it's new version. The Getter Robo G may also appear in a prototype form before being modified to resemble it's appearance in Armageddon as well (so it will also look like it's original manga version).

I'll draw for as many aspects of both series as possible so Mangas, anime, remake movies, and maybe games....

which will require me to actually watch Evangelion for the first time in my damn life, after putting it off for essentially my entire anime career. Getter is a bit less work, as I only need to watch the original anime, and read the original manga (debating whether to include the Go anime in that list, as I've heard nothing good about it).

There's so much to do with this one if I ever do it, but I must admit, I like it.

It occurred to me, the other day, that Operation Yashima would practically be the epitome of Radam bait. That scenario damn near writes itself...

Then again, I'm kinda of the opinion that Nadesico Jumped the Shark after The Reveal about the Jovians, and it's not as if I have any way of fixing that...

Say, does anybody know if Diebuster ever got a dub? I know it apparently got a DVD release in the states, but I can't seem to find whether or not it was ever actually given an English dub.

Not directly SRW-related, but I finally found Super Robot Retsuden, a crossover manga of Mazinger, Great Mazinger, Grendizer, Getter, and Steel Jeeg.

Thought I'd share it with you all.
