Just a heads up (although I should've said something earlier, sorry), I'm going to be visiting family interstate for the next week. I should still be able to post, just not extremely frequently. Sorry.

Is it all right for my character to gain a Duel Spirit as part of his development?

It's alright. Since this is, in some ways, a Spiritual Successor to SI's Duel Academy, and it's Canon in there (Jerry Parker and Jurrac Titano), it's also OK here.
BTW: There is no plot connection between the games. There might be Shout Outs if I get the chance.

Um... aren't all the students supposed to be at a lounge somewhere outside of the academy? And how did someone take a boat ride to an academy in the middle of the desert?

If you come from another continent, then a boat ride might be in order before taking another land-based transport to get to Duel Academy

Does anyone want to meet me when I get to the dueling field?

Maybe Art could duel your character? I've wanted to try out his deck for a while.

Or....we could do a two-on-two duel!

Speaking of which, how are those going to work in this RP? Which set of rules are we going to use?

I wrote the last couple of lines in all-caps to show Roxas was shouting. I know that we are being really strict with writing well in this game, so if you want I am fine with changing it.

In my experience all-caps is typically breaking the proper writing rule. That is what the exclamation mark is for.

You also might want to double check where you put apostrophes and where you forgot to put commas.

Well, I think I've used allcaps a few times during my characters'... Less lucid moments in the past R Ps. But only when they've really lost it. Like when I use the term "took a running jump off the cliff of sanity".

If you notice any mistakes of mine I would greatly appreciate them being pointed out. Thanks. How do I show that he is shouting the question though?

That last sentence you would leave as is. The first two before that would have an exclamations though. Or combine them into one sentence to make:

"Hello, my name is Roxas Lionheart!"

Quick question. How does this work? The duel I mean. I don't quite get how we are going to do this.

What video game villain is Art Caltenrich supposed to be? Earlier Nick said "And we have a guy named for a videogame hero vs a guy named for a videogame villain.". I am obviously named after Roxas from Kingdom Hearts and also less obviously named after Squall/Leon from Final Fantasy 8 and Kingdom Hearts, but I don't recognize were Art got his name from.

The way Art called my character by his last name was really cool by the way.
