Freaky Friday Gender Flip

So I watched Midori Days and liked it a lot. But I was thinking: How about a different twist to this. What if her soul to swap bodies with the lead male instead of her having a coma causing her soul to attach to his right hand?

So basically, the premise is like this: The baddest motherfucker in the campus paired with the smartest student in school. Then some freak incident (both of them were struck by lightning at the same time, for example) caused their souls to swap bodies.

The problem: the lead male is a badass delinquent, while the lead female is a Shrinking Violet Ojou. So when they change bodies, he's now smart and soft-spoken, she's now brash and violent. Now both of them must get to know each other so they can swap lives temporarily without anyone noticing.

Note that the lead guy isn't necessarily a Jerk Jock, he's just simply the guy you would most likely NOT to fuck with.

The intention is basically to turn a delinquent into a Genius Bruiser and a Shrinking Violet into a Badass Bookworm Plucky Girl.

But somewhere along the line, I feel that it has been done before.

I'm pretty sure it has been done, yeah. But a quick google only turns up Quantum Mistake, where the characters are both male, and Your And My Secret, where the switched girl and boy have personalities more 'appropriate' for their new roles than their old ones. And quite a lot of Red String of Fate body-swapping shoujo bullshit with no real relevance or merit. And an absolute ton of porn.

Still, you might want to check out the above for some ideas (you can probably skip the porn). Even if it's a little unoriginal, I think the concept's still compelling and could be really good if done well. It's all about the characters really, Midori is a pretty good example.

There's the manga(I think) Devil and Devil.

It features an Angel and a Demon that end up in the bodies of two brothers.

The elder brother is a juvenile delinquent bad-boy and the younger is a polite goody-two-shoes nerd.

Demon ends up in the nerd's body, and the angel ends up in the delinquent's.

Hijinks, they ensue.

Not quite what I'm looking for, but I can read some of those for reference.

I actually thought I was the only one who thought that Nyotai-ka was ridiculously retarded.

In Midori Days, the runner-up love interest to Midori was quite a wimp to me. My idea is to make a runner-up love interest a Magnificent Bastard instead, similar to Yahiro Saiga.
