This thread is for cleaning up pages that violate the No Lewdness, No Prudishness policy.
Do not use this thread for reporting pages that need to be cut for violating The Content Policy. Report pages that appear too lewd or gushy to have on the wiki using the "Report Page" button on the sidebar, with the checkbox saying "The page may violate the Content Policy" checked. That will create a thread on the Content Violation Discussions subforum
. The thread will be opened by a mod if the report is valid, and if it's deemed necessary, the page will be cleaned according to the Content Policy. (The list of pages that were deemed problematic can be found on The Content Policy's page.)
No Lewdness:
"Lewdness" is more than just being about something sexual or potentially sexual. Here are some signs of lewd writing:
- Personal opinions on hotness. Examples should stand on their own without the introduction of YMMV material. Adding your own thoughts and feelings on an example is an opinion, same as calling an example good or bad. Don't do it. Don't try and extend your feelings to a larger group of fans either, e.g. "...and fangirls everywhere rejoiced". You're not fooling anyone.
- Overly detailed examples. The example doesn't need to be an exact sensory account of the event. Too much of that and you end up sounding like you're writing porn. When in doubt, drop a few adjectives.
- Unrelated fanservice mentions. If the hot bits aren't related to the example, they don't belong in the example.
- Pornographic writing. If you're writing porn, it should be somewhere other than the wiki. Keep it Family Friendly.
- Titillation links. Tell, don't show. We don't need screen shots to illustrate NSFW fanservice. If a reader is really curious, they can go look it up on Google. (See also Weblinks Are Not Examples.)
- Pedo gushing. We don't need to describe children sexually. This should be cut immediately. We're not interested in hosting pedophilia fantasies. Period. If a work contains children having sex, even if portrayed negatively, report it as a potential violation of The Content Policy using the "Report Page" button◊ in the sidebar.
- Talking about actors instead of characters. An actor is not the character they play. When you're writing an example about a work, refer to the character, not the actor. This applies to non-sexual references, but too often it's tropers writing about how they find certain actors hot. That doesn't fit in character examples.
- Thinking a page with a Not Safe for Work subject is license to be lewd. Even when we discuss porn, we are about just stating the facts.
- Fanfic Recs for underage sex. We will not host any recommendation for fics that have explicit sex involving people apparently or actually younger than 16. Period. We categorically do not recommend fics with sex in which at least one participant:
- This applies even if all parties are underage.
No Prudishness:
- Don't cutlist or gut pages just because they're about sexual topics. Sex exists. It's used in media a lot. You'll just need to cope with that fact. Relationships, fanservice, and sexual activity all fall into their own tropes as a result.
- Don't be a Bluenose Bowdlerizer. We're not looking to censor all sex off the wiki. If the sex and sexuality is an honest part of the work and relevant to the example, it belongs there.
- The wiki is not rated G. We aren't sanitizing the wiki for small children. Sex and sexuality are part of media and we aren't going to ignore them. This wiki is Family Friendly, not Unsupervised Small Child Friendly. This isn't an excuse to make work pages dirtier than the work itself, as the above No Lewdness section makes clear, but neither is it an excuse to make those pages cleaner than the work itself.

I know TV Tropes is not supposed to be lurid but the troper who wrote this failed to consider a "Cute Purple Haired Genie Girl" would NOT be out of place in an E rated game. What they intended is that Shantae... is... um, sexier than most video game heroines than is normal for a E rated game. I want help rewording this to make this an example and show how it counts as an example... WITHOUT being creepy or unclear. This example is from Video Games
- When Shantae originally came out, most people thought it was yet another shovelware game for the Game Boy Color as it had a wide release with little promotion, a gimmicky-looking and unorthodox protagonist (a cute purple-haired genie girl in an E-rated game?), came at the end of the system's lifespan (the Game Boy Advance released almost a week later), and was from a developer no one had heard of (Way Forward, which ironically only made licensed games prior to this). The few people who did buy it were pleasantly surprised to find an incredibly solid Metroidvania game, and Way Forward Technologies soon became a well-respected indie developer that's also a shining example of No Problem with Licensed Games. Original copies of this game now sell for hundreds of dollars and Shantae went on to blossom into a cult title, eventually getting a sequel in Risky's Revenge eight years later and other games since, to the point where many regard the series as one of the top indie series. The Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console re-release even explicitly notes how the original release was overlooked despite the positive reception among those who did play it, and how the Virtual Console release would finally give a wide range of players the chance to play it.

Look up Vita Coltide and while she is attractive and fanservicey but is this example written lewdly or am I being a prude?
Just as a note, troper Alciel 9 (who added this) have put fanservice tropes in the past and I think they kinda describe things that aren't there but it could be me not registering them as sexy myself. But this would a problem for the AT Ts.

I think that example is decent as written. At least, I can't think of any way to make it less detailed without rendering it too low-context.

I've learned more about the PSA with real trafficking footage I mentioned here, and I want to bring it up again. From what I've read, the actual footage includes the dialog between the seller and the buyer, and it is very disgustingly sexually charged about what the young girl can do, with discussion of specific acts they are about to do. It is worth noting that said footage feels so borderline illegal that it is often the one thing most PSA YouTubers refuse to upload to their channels. This is REAL FOOTAGE of a REAL VICTIM about to do some GODAWFUL THINGS. Out of respect for this poor girl, I think the link to the PSA should be removed.

So I actually did watch the PSA. Yes, it is unsettling. The footage they show is only a short part of the video, it only shows the girl, clothed, standing idly while her abusers discuss what she does in a different language (presumably Dutch). But the language, while short and blunt, is pretty explicit. The girl also makes a few hand motions that are kind of... imply things that make me sick.
Some people have gotten pissed about the first part of the PSA as well, which I think is kind of a Misaimed Fandom issue (though I do get the discomfort, it's to contrast that kids shouldn't know or be told/shown what sex toys are really for yet). It is condemning the abuse in its presentation, though, and I think there's precedence for documentaries and such to allow relatively inexplicit real-life stuff if it's clearly condemning it.
I stumbled across a PSA wiki that chooses not to link the video due to its nature. I would not mind banning that link here, if only because, while horrifying, presumably real-life footage of child traffickers discussing what they're going to do to a young girl crosses a line similar to how we don't link PSAs that have graphic animal gore.
The Germany "laughing child" ad is only really explicit in-name-only, as no real child is shown, so I'm not as eager to cut it. I don't want to listen to it because of the Paranoia Fuel (it was bad enough trying to google that Dutch PSA without panicking I'd end up on a list) but I think it can be linked cuz the language is less graphic and it's not confirmed to be a real child.
Also I should probably not be on the PSA wiki right before bedtime.

Seeking a second opinion on some examples from Characters.Gladiators 2024 before cutting anything — the Gladiators are personas, in a Professional Wrestling style, so we can trope them as characters, but...
Comet:
- Face: Comet is a self-confessed huge fan of Jet from the 90s series, and hopes to follow in her footsteps. Like her idol, Comet is a stunning, smiley brunette and a Nice Girl amongst the female Gladiators, always maintaining a positive, upbeat tone.
- Stellar Name: Named for the icy, small Solar System body, suggesting her speed and beauty. Comet is a "Wall" specialist.
Diamond:
- Amazonian Beauty: Diamond stands at a grand 6 ft tall, is incredibly buff, and is a stunning blonde with waist-length hair.
- Statuesque Stunner: Diamond is the tallest of the female Gladiators at 6 ft, towering over most contenders by half a foot at least, and is a beautiful, blonde bombshell.
Sabre:
- Head-Turning Beauty: Sabre is a beautiful blonde bombshell, and when she's interviewed after "The Ring" challenge in episode three, contender Alex mentions that her opponent was distractingly good looking.
Alex: I will say, you want to hate her, but she's so good-looking. I was mesmerised for a second, lost in her eyes.
- Ms. Fanservice: Sabre is the most overtly sexy of the female Gladiators, strutting out into the arena with a provocative sashay and pulling a Boobs-and-Butt Pose before she strides off to compete.
For Diamond (in particular) and Comet, the beauty refs seem to be purely viewer/troper reaction to the performer behind the persona. Yes, there's the hair, makeup and figure-hugging sportswear. But I haven't noticed any reference within the series; they're primarily there as athletes.
For Sabre, I added the Alex quote as Eating the Eye Candy on the series page, as it's part of the show. Not convinced that one moment justifies Head-Turning Beauty, and I'm not at all sure about the second example.

(Haven't quoted the Legend example, as his whole heel shtick is about being handsome, vain and self-obsessed - so mentioning his looks seems justified)

I would say no. It's probably better known for the recognizable characters and absurd length.

This example from Recap.The Real Ghostbusters S 2 E 46 The Devil In The Deep:
- Walking Swimsuit Scene: Janine is seen in nothing but a bikini with leopard spots throughout this episode. Oddly, not only is she never near any water in this episode, but it is never elaborated why... aside from some educated guesses.
Firstly, I'm dubious as to whether the example is even valid, since I always thought a Walking Swimsuit Scene was someone who never wears anything but a swimsuit. Also, it is elaborated why: there was a Heat Wave and she was trying to keep cool.
But more importantly, I'm kinda concerned it was written with one hand, since there's an ellipsis and also they mention the leopard spots; I think I vaguely remember someone stating that specifying the colour of revealing clothing indicates someone was horny when typing it.

A page was recently made for the game Super Off Road, and I'm concerned with the extent to which the page discusses the Speed Shop ladies. More than half of the page's trope entries are entirely dedicated to them and their skimpy outfits, and even the work description has a fairly unnecessary reference to them, and very little of the page seems interested in discussing the actual racing game that they're in.

the examples weren't as bad as i thought they were, but damn you weren't playing: 7 out of 9 tropes on the page are thirsting after the Speed Shop girls. we get it, the racer girls are hot.

Yeah, the core (no pun intended) of the trope is often comedic. Even disregarding the unkosher kink shoehorning on its own, I'd assume that "Tour Vore" is just gratuitous...maybe overly detailed use of that way outside of the trope's actual context. Definitely cut.

When I was conceiving the trope, the back of my mind initially thought about including it for the sake of information... but I ended up not doing it because I figured it wasn't really appropriate or even necessary. I actually wasn't sure what to do when I saw it added in by someone else anyway so I left it be, but seeing it get removed does tell me I was right in not adding it but should've also realized the line didn't belong.
That being said: if it happens to get added back at any point (hopefully it won't), I'll clean it up per the above discussion since I follow the page.
