Essentially, this will cover the events of the original anime. However, there are some crucial differences in the backstory of the universe. Second Impact, of course, has occured, which resulted in the death of half the human population. Most events are the same as canon. However, Yui was not the one to test Eva-01 due to several schedualing errors, therefore she was not absorbed into the Evangelion. Her later death was due to unrelated circumstances. Gendo and Shinji's relationship is also far better in this version of the universe.

However, there's still the soul of a child's mother in each Evangelion. The Angels are still coming, NERV still is in much the same state as it was in canon, for the most part the universe is the same as it is in canon.

But these changes have led to different children being selected to pilot the Evangelions.

R Pers will be playing these pilots, and of course some of NERV's officers and technicians.

So, um, yeah, Interest Check time! This is actually a relaunch of an RP I made before, but it kind of died, so... um... here's to trying it again!

  • Name:

  • Occupation: (There are Evas 00-02)
  • Appearance:
  • Personality:
  • History:

  • Name: Fukui Akihiko
  • Age: 14
  • Gender: Male
  • Occupation: Student and pilot of Eva-00
  • Appearance: Akihiko has a fairly normal height for his age, at 5'0. However, he appears almost underweight, barely looking at all healthy. He is thin and lacks any major muscle, making him quite skinny. He has green eyes, and his short hair is dark brown. He usually dresses in his school uniform, or exceedingly plain clothing.
  • Personality: Akihiko is very ill-equipped socially. He lacks any idea of what to do around people, and usually tries to mimic the actions of those he sees around him. That is, if he has to. Akihiko tends to steer clear of human interaction unless it's necessary. When it is necessary, or when he's talked to, he tends to be extremely awkward, especially if the person in question is female. He places his wellbeing at very low value most of the time.
  • History: Akihiko vaguely remembers his mother, who disappeared when he was very young. He has no memory of his father. He was found, at four years old, by NERV officers. This led to him growing up without parental care, but with minimal intervention from NERV due to several currently undisclosed events. He has already had his synch ratio test with Eva-00, resulting in him becoming a pilot for the prototype Eva.

Our Misato!

  • Name: Rachel Suzuki
  • Age: 27
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Apparently picking pictures at three in the morning is a bad idea, so let's do this manually. Rachel is about 5' 10'', 148 lbs., with long blonde hair and blue eyes. Has fair skin, not pale, not tan, and some great assets. Tends to dress in more neutral colors, but she will wear brighter colors if it's an especially nice day. Usually smiling, but her serious face is a visage of sheer authority.
  • Personality: The definitive Cool Big Sis. Rachel is kind, supportive, and always friendly, especially with kids. She likes making people happy, and sees it as sort of a side job. Rachel is happy when you're happy, and sad when you're sad. She's a very emotionally sensitive individual, and is always the first to know if someone's upset or angry. She's normally very calm and rational, but is easily ruled by emotion when she gets riled, especially when it comes to kids. Very proactive, a do-it-yourselfer, and is an Indy-level improv specialist, both on the job and at home (which is probably the only reason she's trusted as a tactician).
  • Occupation: NERV operations director, holds the rank of Major
  • Skills: Good with guns, and a talented tactician, however prone to letting her emotions rule her she may be. Actually can cook, surprise, surprise, and is great with kids.
  • Backstory: Born the eldest child of an American mother and a Japanese father, Rachel had a relatively peaceful, normal childhood. She lived in a cozy house by the coast, just outside of the city, with her parents and her three younger siblings, Ayumi, Kyle, and Daisuke. They were a happy family, no domestic or financial problems. They ate their meals together, their parents loved and cherished them, and they played and had fun like normal children. Then Rachel turned twelve, just in time for Second Impact. Since everyone knows where this story's going, we can just be brief and say shit got real. Her parents were both killed during the initial sinking of Japan's coastline, orphaning her and her siblings, to whom she became a sort of surrogate mother figure. Normally, you'd expect this to be the charming story of the cute but stressed and overworked twenty-something doing her best to raise her siblings, but sadly this was not to be the case. As it turns out, a twelve year old is not the best-suited to taking care of three younger kids in the middle of a global disaster, and since everyone was mostly preoccupied with "holy shit what just happened?", they were left on the streets to wander and fend for themselves, a handful of the many children neglected in favor of rebuilding society and maintaining the greater good. And it didn't take long for there to be casualties. Whether it was by injury, starvation, or violence on the street, her siblings began to drop, one after another, with Rachel completely helpless to save them. Eventually it was just her, all alone and waiting to die. But unlike her siblings, Lady Luck had not abandoned Rachel, and she was found and raised by a retired war vet, who became like a surrogate father to her. She was brought back to civilization, where he more or less adopted her, and at her request, trained her to use a gun. When she was old enough, and with her adoptive father's blessing, she joined the military, quickly rising through the ranks to the position of Major, where she sits now. She still remembers her brothers and sister, and is still haunted by the guilt she felt at being unable to protect them, like a good older sister should. So when she was offered the position as operations director at NERV, she agreed immediately upon finding out about the pilots, swearing to herself she would watch out for these kids, and make sure they didn't end up just more names on a list of casualties.
  • Other: Due to her figure and status as an "exotic item", Rachel tends to get a lot of male attention. Most of it she doesn't mind, she might even tease back a little, but she doesn't let people cross the line. Creepsters beware, she keeps her M9s on her at all times.

So, um... Decided to make her a pilot, ahah. >.> Just... I really wanted to try her out as a pilot last time, and, um... Yeah. >.<

  • Name: Takaya Kazumi
  • Age: 14
  • Gender: Female
  • Occupation: Student and pilot of Unit-01
  • Appearance: Kazumi has shoulder length, curly black hair, and her eyes are probably brown, but it's hard to tell when they're behind her thick Nerd Glasses (her eyesight is very bad and she can barely see without them). She's rather plain looking, the only really noticable part of her appearance being her large chest, although she still has a certain charm to her. Heightwise, she's only just around five foot tall, maybe a few inches under, a point that she is very sensitive about.
  • Personality: Cheerful, bubbly and somewhat goofy even whilst on the job. She's very much a nerd, and is especially a fan of mecha shows (her personal favourite being Gunbuster, and she laments the fact that Gainax never made another mecha show before Second Impact hit). In fact, she probably thinks that she's in a more typical, idealistic mecha series. However, her cheerful nature is just a mask for her true nature. In reality, she's an insecure, scared little girl running away from her past and trying to distract herself so she doesn't have to think about the things that have happened to her. Though she tries to hide it, she is something of a pervert, and notably owns the largest collection of homoerotic pornography in the Tokyo-3 area.
  • History: Kazumi's childhood wasn't exactly happy, as her family all died one by one when she was very young due to the turbulent state of the world after Second Impact. As a young girl trying to cope with the whole world dying around her, she retreated into herself, her only real source of solace being old anime reruns. Eventually, she snapped out of it and became a bit more outgoing, and now she sees herself as a more well adjusted member of society than she was whilst growing up. At least, that's what she thinks anyway...

CombatC122 from The Frozen Icebox Since: May, 2011
#9: Mar 19th 2012 at 2:48:47 PM

Name: Gabriel Scott

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Occupation: Sync Ratio Specialist/NERV 2nd Lieutenant (Basically a Bridge Bunny, but he'd probably dislike the term if he was called that in-universe)

Appearance: Short blue hair (think stylized black, like Misato's, not vaguely inhuman albino like Rei's) and blue eyes. Distinctly Caucasian in appearance; people can tell he's not native Japanese by looking at him. About 6'4'' with a thin and gangly build (slightly above average height among his American peers, but sticks out even more in a Japanese crowd). Slight permastubble.

History: Gabe was born to scientist parents in a small New England coastal town, where he spent most of his early childhood, and is an only child. He had a mostly normal early life, but this all changed when his parents took a fateful research assignment in Antarctica at the dawn of the 21st century. The rising tides of the Second Impact left Gabe's hometown underwater and forced him to move further inland to live with his grandparents. In actuality, the move was arranged by Gehirn officials who secretly kept a close eye on him through his adolescent years, though Gabe himself is unaware of this. This trauma didn't affect Gabe's performance in his schoolwork but did turn him into a bit of a loner in his early adolescence, really only snapping out of it when a teacher suggested he try some sort of after school activity for his own good. Deciding to try out for baseball for the hell of it, Gabe discovered he had a decent enough arm to make the mediocre team as a relief pitcher, and the experience made him a few new friends. As he matured into young adulthood, Gabe decided to follow in his parents' footsteps and study Metabiology at MIT, eventually earning himself a postgraduate job at NERV's First Branch through his faculty connections. After a couple of years helping to oversee experimental A.I.s and contact and dummy system experiments with Eva 03 (and 04 at the Second Branch in Nevada on occasion), his superiors send him to Tokyo-3 to "supervise LUC-1NDES's integration with NERV HQ's computers", although exactly why he must do this is not yet known to him...

Personality: Gabe was old enough at the time to remember the loss of his parents and the horror of Second Impact. While he sees his job as necessary for the future of the human race, he has a guilt complex over the use of young children to fulfill NERV's goals, identifying with them just a little (although he might have a little difficulty relating to them on a personal level, especially with the culture barrier). This is something that could send him spiraling into full on depression should he end up blaming himself for something particularly horrible happening to one of the pilots, but for the most part he likes to keep these particular worries hidden under a facade of professionalism and rationalism. This can cause him to come off as emotionless and impenetrable at times despite his occasional sarcastic quips on the job, but he will be more relaxed and casual off duty around people he trusts. Coming from a scientific background, he isn't yet used to the more militaristic aspects of NERV culture (owning a sidearm, wearing a uniform instead of a lab coat, etc.) His hobbies and interests skew towards stereotypically geeky American stuff (comics, tabletop and video games, maybe the odd anime that he's seen), but he does have an affinity for the game of baseball, and the Red Sox in particular, thanks in part to it being one of the few constants in his life that he feels ties him back to his parents when they were alive. He's also a bit of a Covert Pervert (with standards; he won't be ogling any 14 year old girls in plugsuits, but let's just say he appreciates that the female officer's uniform includes a miniskirt). Also hates being called by his full name, preferring Gabe to Gabriel.

Skills: Gabe is very scientifically-minded, tech savvy, and intelligent, although he isn't much for coming up with tactical ideas on his own, preferring to defer to the man or woman in charge during combat situations and help iron out their existing plans. He is very good at appearing to remain cool in high pressure situations, rarely becoming externally flustered (although you can be sure something has just deeply affected him if he does show any outward signs of emotion in these situations). Also, given his awkward physical frame, he has a slightly inexplicable ability to throw palm-sized objects with decent speed and accuracy, however this really hasn't done him much good since his high school playing days.

Gabe is a native English speaker but also fluent in Japanese, a requirement for him to work at the main NERV base in Tokyo-3. Any words or lines he has in English will be differentiated with red text.

I'd like to play these two again. They're unchanged from last time.

Name: Shimizu Takuya
Name: Shimizu Kaede

Age: Takuya is 14 (b. 2000); Kaede is 11 (b. 2003).

Gender: Male

Occupation: Students

Appearance: Takuya is tall for his age (five foot seven) and of roughly average weight. He has shoulder-length black hair, brown eyes, and broad facial features. He usually wears casual but unremarkable clothing unless he's expected to wear something more formal.

Kaede is roughly average height (four foot eleven) and somewhat skinny. He's more athletic than Takuya, and has slightly narrower features, taking more after their father, but they still clearly resemble each other.

History: Takuya was born in Okinawa several months after Second Impact, his parents' second child, with his sister Mariko four years older. While he was still an infant, his mother — an engineer — got a job at NERV, and his family moved to Tokyo-3 shortly thereafter. Kaede was born in Tokyo-3 when Takuya was age three. Three years later, their mother died under mysterious circumstances which their father (an artist) was never willing to talk about. Takuya and Kaede only vaguely remember her at this point.

They continued living in Tokyo-3 until almost two years ago. When Takuya was 12, Mariko and Kaede were involved in a car crash; Mariko died before paramedics arrived, while Kaede survived with few (physical) injuries. Mariko had always been closest to their father, and things fell apart for them after her death. Takuya's father began drinking heavily, and they moved back to Okinawa, away from everyone Takuya and Kaede knew. Later that year, their father became violent on several occasions after coming back home drunk; his father eventually realized (when he was briefly sober) that he was in no state to raise two children, and shortly thereafter, he sent Takuya and Kaede to live with their aunt and uncle back in Tokyo-3.

The two of them have been living in Tokyo-3 since then; their aunt and uncle also work for NERV and are usually busy with work, so they're by themselves a lot of the time.

Personality: Takuya is fairly sensitive to other people's emotions, and he hates seeing other people get hurt. He has a strong aversion to violence; he also tends to put too much blame on himself when something bad happens. (For example, he still has a vague feeling of guilt for his father's breakdown, even though there wasn't anything he could have done.) Around others his age, he's friendly enough and enjoys meeting people, but he very rarely opens up to anyone or forms close relationships, and he has difficulty bringing himself to trust others; Kaede is one of the few people he's fairly open with. He has friends, but he doesn't feel much of a close connection to any of them. Takuya can be very focused when interested in something, especially history, his favorite subject.

Kaede is much quieter and more clearly "odd" than Takuya. Already naturally introverted, he became withdrawn and less social after Mariko's death and their father's breakdown; he doesn't interact much with others his age at all. He's also had trouble with frequent nightmares since then. Kaede loves science and math and often forgets that his peers don't always know what he's talking about. He doesn't give the appearance of being as focused or organized as Takuya, but he reads constantly and is always trying to figure out how things work. He sometimes comes across as a bit oblivious, missing some social cues and saying things without fully clarifying the train of thought behind it.

  • Name: Kobayashi Yuki
  • Age: 14
  • Gender: Female
  • Occupation: Student and pilot of Eva-02
  • Appearance: Yuki is on the tall, gangly side, reaching a strange, somewhat eerie height of six foot tall. Given that she's female, fourteen, and of Japanese descent, this is undoubtedly noticeable. Almost as noticeable as the odd collection of scars, culminating in an eyepatch over one eye, bandages often on her limbs, and an oddly missing left ring finger. The eye is still functional, it's just excessively sensitive, which... explains stuff.
And the cause of all this? She's ridiculously clumsy.
Other than that, Yuki seems average enough, with dark brown hair and matching eyes, though the waist-length braid is a little odd.
  • Personality: Easily distracted. Combined with her physical clumsiness, Yuki's tendency to stop paying attention to what she's doing often ends in accidents, as does her getting side-tracked into long trains of thought that end nowhere near where she started. There's just two things that are weird: if you ask her to follow you, she'll stay at arm's length to your side, and if you ask about what happened to her family, you'd best have some plans to deal with the resulting statue.
  • History: Amazingly, her entire family survived Second Impact! And then died. One by one. Her father? Fell down the stairs. Brother? In front of a train. Mother? Into a fire. Clumsiness is such a problem.

  • Name: Doctor Kurosawa Issei, "Hebi"*

  • Age:27

  • Gender: Male

  • Occupation: Head researcher of the EVA project.

  • Appearance: Issei is an average, bland looking man with dark hair, dark eyes and with only the minimal required hygiene. The only features that make him stick in a crowd is his lab coat and an armband over the coat with the NERV logotype inscribed into it. Issei has also the habit of wearing shades, even in interiors (in order to hide the marks of lack of sleep).

  • Personality: Issei is a bucket full of poison with a tongue to deliver it mercilessly. He only stops only when the matter is reaching insubordination levels. His critics leave none, not even himself untouched. He doesn't dwell in socializying too much, as that robs his time of research, which he pursues with a zealous drive. Some of the most perceptive people theorize that Issei is just putting a mask because he's hurt deep inside, but so far, they've been unable to go beyond this as his perceptive mind quickly seals any cracks away.

If one were to peer inside his true personality, he would find a man who was enraged with the world from an early age, and that doesn't want to drag anyone else with him in this matter, for he knows he's doomed much like the whale hunter of his favorite book: Moby Dick. He knows what awaits at the end of the road, and thus, he fights with his science and wits for the few good people that still exist.

  • History: Son of a doctor couple, he became an orphan during second impact, forcing his eighteen old sister to quit study and become a hostess in order to pay Issei's school. He would eventually find out what kind of work she had taken, and this scarred himself deeply. Even if he was still a teenager, from that very day he swore off his teenager antics, burnt his toys and became hell-bent in being among the best minds of his promotion. After some time, it did quite paid off, having become a doctor of certain prestige who was soon enrolled in NERV's payroll and eventually becoming the head researcher of the EVA project. However, as good as things were going (now he could afford maintaining his older sister and letting him continue her life without resorting to prostitution), he soon learned not all in NERV was well... and he eventually became trapped between a rock and a hard place. He couldn't tell what he knew, for he would be dead and without money to send his sister, but he could only see that the dark plans of Ikari and his SEELEE partners came to an end with his help.

Refitted Issei —- since there's no Akagi I claim head researcher. Also, I didn't add a skills field because it wasn't asked.

I think it's a good idea to start fairly soon and just let characters interact for a little while. You don't have to actually set any plot-related stuff in motion so early even if you start the thread soon, but it'd be nice to have the thread there for anyone who wants to do a little to establish their characters.
