This is the sticky thread for questions related to the namespacing of works. As in, "which is the right namespace for this work?"
Ideally, questions already answered are covered on the Namespace Map. If you know a namespacing issue has already been resolved, but it is not yet documented on the Map, please update the Map.
If you want to suggest a new namespace, don't post here, but in Suggesting New Namespaces instead.
For easier reference, I've numbered my questions:
- #1: Where do animated films go? They seem to be distributed rather inconsistenly over Film/ (Puss In Boots, Whats Opera Doc), WesternAnimation/ (Disneys Anne Frank, Snow White), Anime/ (Princess Mononoke) and Disney/ (Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, Der Fuehrers Face).
- #2: There are a few songs which have their own pages ("Pirate Jenny"). Where do they go – to Music/ or to Literature/ ?
- #3: Where do composers go – to Music/ , or are they to be treated like other creators, which hitherto stay on Main/ ?
- #4: Where do Talk Shows, Game Shows and News Broadcasts go? I guess you could call these formats Live-Action TV but they're not really "TV series", as in Series/.
- #5: Am I right in assuming that Puppet Shows go to Series/ ?
- #6: What about “hybrid shows”, i.e. segment shows that incorporate both live action and animation? (e.g. Die Sendung Mit Der Maus)
- #7: Where to put picture books? I am thinking of books like Der Struwwelpeter and Max and Moritz — books that are really not complete without their illustrations. They are not (yet) ComicBook/s, but to sort them under Literature/ feels a little unsatisfactory too.
- #8: The rule is to put works into the namespace of their original medium. However, once in a while there is a work which is little known in its original medium, and almost exclusively known by its adaptation. I’m thinking of Das Boot, for example: there's a novel, but it is almost exclusively known by the Petersen movie.
- #9: Should One Book Authors who are invariably tied to a single work be treated as a creator or a work page rather?— Currently, we have Samuel Pepys and Herodotus, but shouldn't these pages be at Literature/The Diary of Samuel Pepys and Literature/The Histories rather?
- #10: There are cases where I’m unsure whether to use the English or the original title. Is there are hard rule that determines whether Der Ring Des Nibelungen goes to Theatre/Der Ring des Nibelungen or Theatre/The Ring of the Nibelung? Even Wikipedia uses the original title.
I'd be grateful for input.

Since there seems to be no clear consensus, I checked all the 13 pages in the namespace to get a clearer idea.
Though it is true they could be in Literature/ like other Web Original series (or Fanfic/ for some), they do all have in common to be in script format; at least there is no misuse of the namespace, what it is used for is clear.
As far as disambiguation go, it is useful if only for the Script.Watchmen page.
I know we're still kinda talking over the extent of implementation, but would pages like King Arthur and Robin Hood work out for the Myth/ namespace?
I now go by Graf von Tirol.I'm fairly new here and I've got a question. What do we do when there's two works with the same title that would normally go in the same namespace.
For example, there's a show that came out on BBC America and BBC One called 'The Game' set in the cold war inside MI 6. Normally that would be 'Series / The Game' (minus spaces). However there's already a 'Series / The Game' that is an entirely different show of the same name, completely unrelated to the 70s spy drama. I'm open to any guidance and suggestions.

Append a word at the end of the show name that distinguishes them. Like say Series. The Game UKTV Series.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, but I've been wondering for a while now: how exactly do I remove a page from Darth Wiki? Specifically, I'm referring to my fanfic Creeps, which is no longer appropriate for Darth Wiki seeing as I've already posted over a dozen chapters, available for public viewing for over a year now. The Fanfic/ namespace redirects to Darth Wiki/, and the page is indexed under Troper Works. If someone could fix this for me, or tell me how to fix it myself, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
~Shrikecatcher: You remove a page through the Cut List. If you need to break a redirect to move your page, you need to put the URL of the redirecting page into the address bar and append ?action=edit to the end.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanStill awaiting an answer to my question.
Well, I did see that King Arthur has since been put under Literature/, but I wonder if Myth/ is more fitting for both him and Robin Hood...
I now go by Graf von Tirol.I concur that Robin Hood should go in Myth/
I have hesitations about The Last Chance Detectives: as a series of direct-to-video movies, should it be in Film/ or Series/?
Apparently, these are usually put in Film/. But it's apparently not very consistent.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, question. This is half a namespace dispute and half a page title dispute.
Should Neptunia be moved to Franchise/?
It's quite blatantly obvious that it has become one at this point (see page), and someone already quietly created the redirect at Neptunia, but I've received push-back in the game discussion thread for the idea because there are no Western entries in the franchise that use just "Neptunia" instead of "Hyperdimension Neptunia".note
However, we kinda had to split it this way because of the nature of the series' continuity requiring a clear separation between the sub-pages for the franchise and the individual titles where possible. The sheer amount of incorrect wicks pointing to Hyperdimension Neptunia instead of Neptunia is also quite bad as it is, without having them share a page name.
What do?

Franchise/ is only valid for works with multiple medium articles.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere's a Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation page, so that requirement is satisfied. Or do you mean we also need pages for the manga for that to count?

Yes. 3 mediums. Video Game + Anime alone aren't enough.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanUnderstood. Are there any other apparent problems with moving it to Franchise/ after the manga pages are created?
"someone"? You created a franchise redirect last year in September.
VideoGame.Neptunia is doing a great job providing an index of the video games in the series, as well as troping the series in general. There is no need to create a Multimedia franchise page.
The multimedia franchise pages are to provide an index of the different mediums of a franchise.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Where would Five Colors For A Dime go?
Macron's notesAfter taking a quick look at the forum thread, it seems to be fictionalized of comic book history...I think.
Macron's notesAgreed: It looks like a fictionalization of Real Life, so it belongs in Literature.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I'm not sure where goes. I thought it's fanfic, but now that I look at it, again it seems more like it isn't. Does anyone have any ideas?
My game. I reckon it's gonna be a big oneIs it a derivative of some other work?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat all depends on how you define 'work', which is where it gets confusing.
My game. I reckon it's gonna be a big one
How is a script a distinct work from the media produced from it? I don't see how this is valuable.
