This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Just noticed a pagequote change on Doom, from:
to:
Strictly speaking there's nothing wrong with the new quote, but I feel like Pratchett's quote was wittier, and also gets at the heart of Doom better than the newer quote does (well, at least as far as I tend to play it; the first playthrough of the game is fairly tense, but later plays are more about you slaughtering demons than fearing demons slaughtering you).
That isn't what bothers me, though; what bothers me is that I can't find any discussion about this change. Came here just to double-check I hadn't missed one in here, because there was nothing in the Discussion page for the article, and the Forums thread for Doom hasn't been touched in a while either - so, since there's no mention of it here either prior to this post, I have to assume this was a unilateral change. I'm doubt it's a bad faith edit from the author, given they've been contributing to this site for at least a year, and a quick skim of their edits generally shows them on the up-and-up; I'll PM them a link to the thread after making this post.
In the interim, thoughts on which one should stay? I'd like to revert, but I'd also not like to start an edit war over it.
Moon◊To clarify what seems to have happened, the person in question moved the quote from VideoGame.Doom to Franchise.Doom, replacing the quote on the former as said.
The original quote from the Franchise/ page:

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I think the Pratchett quote is more appropriate for the franchise than any specific game, so I approve of that move.
The readme.txt quote feels weak, though. Perhaps something from a review of the game?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.yeah, I moved the comic quote to the comic page, I moved the more general Terry Pratchett quote to the franchise page, and put a quote specific to the original Doom on the original Doom page, as each seemed more illustrative of the comic, the general franchise, and the original game to me. However, if people are unhappy with this, feel free to move them around, change them back, whatever you like.

I wasn't seriously disputing the logic, it's just that you changed these things without offering up that logic for other tropers to go over in the first place. Try to seek second opinions on changes like this in the future, okay?

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)entirely my fault for only including an edit reason on the franchise page, my apologies.
Aha. In that case, I'm fine with the change.
Moon◊ThatOneBoss.Atlus currently has an edit comment saying to only include "games developed by Atlus only" yet its page quote refers to a FromSoftware product (which IMO deserves its own page too due to From Software itself also being infamous for this).
I feel like changing the page quote there for another reason as well, because it the quote doesn't even directly refer to fighting bosses, either.

Okay, I took care of the multiple Presidential quotes. I mostly stuck with quotes from the men themselves, so I think it should be alright for now. I also made Quote subpages for all of them and moved the cut quotes over there.
Hello!
Does anyone mind if I change the O.O.C. Is Serious Business page quote at all? I’m not saying the page quote isn’t an example (it is), but I just think it could be replaced with a quote that’s more... specific.
Hi, I’m oghond, and I’m a Rushaholic. Sorry if I annoy you unintentionally. 😅I mean it would depend in part on what you changed it to.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Does the quote on The Marvel Super Heroes have too much blue?
Yes, because quotes aren't supposed to have potholes at all. Or in other words, any blue is too much blue.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)There are exceptions to that rule, such as referencing a specific work.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Does this fall under that exception?
No, it doesn't. Potholing in page top quotes is not the same thing as having a wick to a work being quoted put at the end of the quote for the sake of attribution.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpActually, I was referring to the practice, as demonstrated in Rocky Roll Call, Super-Deformed, and Vomit Indiscretion Shot, of leaving a Pot Hole to a work that the quote is giving a Shout-Out to.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Since the top of the page already has a list of the comics the show adapted, I removed the potholes from the quote.
Both Writer's Block and Isaac Asimov use the same quote. I'm not certain which page suits it better. Neither one has a Quotes subpage to draw ideas from.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Hey! Could I add this quote from Stan to the There Are No Police page? What do you guys think?
- — Stan Pines, Gravity Falls
The quote on Gayborhood doesn't really illustrate. The whole joke relies on
- Knowing that the main street in San Francisco's Gayborhood is called Castro
- Knowing that Fidel Castro would be upset by this
I think the second point, at least, is fairly common knowledge. And the first point, if unknown, can be more than easily inferred from the page image.
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!OK, so there's been several changes to the page quote for TV show/episode "Black Mirror: San Junipero", and at present it has settled on having

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Germans Love David Hasselhoff has two quotes. I think we should pull the first one, since it's just restating the trope name.

What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
But the second Garfield quote is very nice, too.
