Okay, so for those unfamiliar with The Mask, here's a synopsis: Stanley Ipkiss is just your average, shy, geeky guy, with a wonderful inner world of emotion and humor that he keeps tightly locked, because he's crushed by the world around him. But you can feel it, in every move, every gaze, all this energy just begging to burst... There wasn't much Internet, back in 1994, so he never had that sort of outlet. He was mostly just another quiet, lonely guy.

At the end of the day, he tries to find solace in silly fiction: cartoons, classic movies, tv series... If and when his terrible landlady will let him ("QUIET, IPKISS!"). He lives under a dreadful boss, he has dreadful friends (in fact, he looks like he only has one friend), everyone steps all over him, and the only being who loves him is Milo, his dog. He leads a dreadful life, he actually believes Nice Guys Finish Last...

And then, one day, he gets his hands on The Mask, and suddenly everything he wants to be, he can be, everything he wants to do, he can do.

So what does he do? Does he try to rule the mob? Become president? Break into Broadway? Be a Superhero, fight crime, or protect the innocent? No, he just wants to have as much fun as possible, and win the love of the girl he has a crush on.And he does so, with panache, and [[Troperiffic crams so many tropes, refrences and homages on the way]], you can't help but wonder, if this site had existed back then... But enough talk! *crash* Have a vid*

:

Okay, now, seriously, did this guy have a time-machine navigator and just press this site's "random" button everytime he was in doubt? Now, from the behavior I've seen around the site, the fora, etc., I suspect that the Mask would have the same effect on some folks here as internet semianonymity and a favourable environment...

Or wouldn't it? How do you think you would behave if you had no restraints whatsoever*

, and could act like your True Self to the fullest?

Note: I'm not asking you what you would do with the Mask's Reality Warper powers if you were being your normal self: the Mask doesn't work that way. Ipkiss, in the cartoon, tries to use the Mask to be a Superhero, but as soon as he puts it on, other priorities assert themselves: he doesn't do what he thinks he ought to do, but what he wants to do...

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

OMG I'm pretty much obsessed with this movie. I have a replica of the Loki Mask and I'm currently in production of a fan film involving a girl wearing the Mask.
