A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Signups

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Name: (self-explanatory)
  • Universe: (series they come from)
  • Background: (brief bio of their past, motivations, etc.)
  • Powers: (What they can do- keep it between 1-3 on the Super Weight scale)
  • Personality: (Also self-explanatory).

The game itself may not open for a while, so don't hold your breath. This is a way of seeing how may people want to sign up.

With at least one Madoka Magica character in team magic and Sayaka in Infinities, we should find find a way to make this happen if he gets in. One of the secondary effects of the nanomachines is making big dumb metalcore tracks appear.

Oh, right. I had no idea the player list was that out of date. In that case I guess he'll just kinda sit on his own and listen to lonely powermetal, like a 14 year old.

Mods or the original poster, and Loco is long gone. This is a more up to date list.

Either Daltar or DB, they're pretty friendly and lurk around.

And no Ud, I make sure that Troy does not forget about Kyouko.

In case I ever push for a second Sciencer.

  • Name: Red Savarin
  • Universe: Solatorobo
  • Background: Millenia ago, scientific advances allowed the creation of Juno, an AI capable of running the world. However, the decline of humanity caused Juno to Kill Them All (at the request of some humans), creating the Caninu and Felineko in their stead, breaking up and sending the continents into the sky, a permanent thunderstorm called the Cloud Sea preventing their safe return. Red is actually a hybrid of Caninu and human DNA, theoretically born to erase all life by activating several giant cyborg kaiju, who will in turn cause the Floating Continents to return to their alignment. Red escaped the lab where he was born along with a Dahak Mini Mech, was taken into an orphanage and grew up ignorant of his powers, working as a Hunter (performing various heavy-duty jobs that require a mech). After the defeat of his creator (who thought the Felineko and Caninu as iredeemable as the humans), he is happy to live out his life as before, taking odd jobs with his sister.
  • Powers:
  • Personality: Red is happy to help others and have fun, though he once he has a goal set he won't stop until he reaches it. His Idiot Hero and When All You Have Is a Hammer… tendencies get him into trouble, but that's what the Dahak is there for. His Trance personality, on the other hand, is much more violent and impulsive.

Perfectly fine with never using the Trance, by the way. Shooting energy is no replacement for pulling a Hulk via robot.

Hey there boys and girls, guess what time it is?

That's right, it's time for the three PM matinee showing of Bindle Makes a Comeback 4: The Comebackening in 3-D.

By which I mean I finally remembered that this was a thing that exists and decided to get off my duff and give it another shot. Again. Specifically, I was hoping I could weasel my way back in as Fran Madaraki, but since Vox played her here for about five minutes back in days of yore, I figured I should ask permission first instead of just springing the app on you all willy-nilly.

And like I've said something like a thousand times before, it's perfectly understandable if you guys aren't cool with having me back in this particular sandbox, because I have been a tremendous flake basically all the time.

^^ It's perfect! She's the only one with a hope of restraining Gavrill, by augmenting her teammates to levels rivalling her own! Never again will they complain of being underpowered when a human head crumbles at their touch. Never again will they fear death or injury, for they will know that they will only be returned stronger.

Just imagine, Team Science will become a shambling mass of super-augmented multicephalic abominations, so tall as to hide the sun, so strong as to swat down mountains, spawning thousands of insectoid minions in unbreakable chrysalids from the folds of their invulnerable chitinous exoskeletons, crushing underfoot what is not smashed aside, pestilence and miasma having no hold upon them, unable to die, all to drag victory kicking and screaming from the obscurantist clutches of the astrologers and soothsayers.

It will be... magnificent.

[up][up][up][up]

As unbelievable as that may sound... I'm not surprised if Fran can pull that off.

The only thing that prevents her from doing so will probably be the lack of necessary materials.

Shame that she didn't get to go to Commorragh, though :/ Considering the sheer number of corpses there and the chance to operate on a live Tyranid...
