I don't think this is PSOC at all. I think the description is very good, but the examples do need help. This isn't just "character has determined expression." This is "instead of making a speech or doing something dramatic", a character demonstrates what an intense moment it is/signals an awesome moment/ beatdown is about to commence by a piercing, unflinching look of determination, accompanied by complete silence."
This might need a rename. I agree that it is very much a trope, but the name sounds like PSOC. Maybe...Determined Silence? No, that just throws the problem in a different direction.
Yeah, this didn't get much help in YKTTW, but I couldn't stand to let it die, so I just launched it hoping for Wiki Magic, which clearly didn't happen. I have no doubt that it's a trope, though. If Death Glare deserves a page, this does.
^ Wiki Magic tends to work better when you Entry Pimp all your initial examples. :)
I'm too modest.
Don't be. The wiki is not the place for it if you want or need Wiki Magic.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Forgotten thread and forgotten trope. I'm with nrjxll, this is PSOC. Send it back to YKTTW where it might be saved by a rename and added examples.
This is NOT PSOC. I'm also not sure it really needs a rename. What is really needs is more love.
I've already added my thoughts on this. I have no doubt that it's a trope and is adequately titled. It's just very subtle and so finding examples for it is difficult. Putting it back in YKTTW probably wouldn't hurt.
I think it needs to bounce back to YKTTW.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I added an example before realizing there was a TRS on it, but this is trope-able and seen it a million times without being people sitting on chairs.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comI dunno... there's something wrong here. It's not exactly that the trope is bad, but there's something about the description that's preventing it from being good. I don't like the trope, since it has a really bad feel to it, but I think if the description is tweaked, it could work. It does seem like People Sit On Chairs, but I can't really decide if that's the name's fault, the description, the trope itself, or some combination of the three.
I've put this back in YKTTW. tropetown, could you possibly give any specifics? I'm getting a different perspective on this from everyone, and any concrete detail that would help me nail down the problem would help.
The YKTTW isn't doing very well, no replies so far. What to do?
To reiterate: since this trope was re-ykttwed in early november, NO ONE has taken any interest in it. I vote just cut it.
Chairs, cut it.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Well,"character x is determined" is a meaning. An expression in the face is not meaningless.

Okay, maybe if the description is reworked to make that clear.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. It's a type of emoting based on Body Language. I think it could be a trope, but I think basic emoting should be for the most part exampleless pages.
Fight smart, not fair.It is a rather basic expression.
somethingStalled thread; clocking as requested.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffI see several people suggesting a cut, should we run a crowner for that?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! It's a shame the thread died originally, there was some interesting discussion about tropeworthiness going on.
Crown Description:
Determined Expression
There's a grand total of five examples in exactly one category and virtually no wicks (and no inbounds at all). Furthermore, despite efforts to disguise it, "character has a determined expression" still reads like classic PSOC. The YKTTW archive shows it didn't get much help then - so what do we do with it now?
