Enough so that in my life, it's a thoroughly unremarkable occurance. I don't know if I can even name every game that's inspired me.
The only thing that comes to mind is that the fact that Wilde are stored in mythril medals in the Suenyaverse was inspired by Fossil Fighters.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaA flash game inspired Project One Fifty Four.
I also have a little penchant for writing novelizations of videogames, which is what Project One Fifty Four originally was in its first incarnation.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.Oh, hell yes. In fact, not only my work draws major elements from Bio Shock, Modern Warfare, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, it wouldn't have been created at all, if it hasn't been for certain game developed by Atlus, Key Visual Art works, and the BIGGEST influence of all, Nasuverse, although the core work, Kara No Kyoukai, is not a Visual Novel, but it stands anyway. I was originally write a First Person RPG, but since I know absolutely nothing about and if I ever publish it, it will be more than likely to get a M rating.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Yeah.
I think Prototype and Assasin's Creed have given me a fetish for hoodies.
Well, since video games make up 68% of the entirety of my existence, I'd say yes. I've gone on record saying that "You aren't a man if you don't know the Konami Code," and I stand firm by that assertion.
I'd name games that inspired me, but we'd be here a while, so let's just say Fighting Games and call it a day. I mean, one of my chapters is titled Shoryuken. And nearly all of my characters have stealth references to fighters from different franchises.
Still, Advance Wars is a solid influence as well...if only because of the presence of tanks.
My Wattpad — A haven for delightful degeneracyFor most of my writing career, I've written about Pokemon. My current work actually began life as a Pokemon fanfic where I challenged and questioned the strangest aspects of the Pokeverse, as well as how Pokemon Gijinkas would realistically work. And it just recently became original fantasy when I checked out the latest Pokemon and realized that at least half of them make little to no biological sense, and that it's impossible to stay up to date as long as Pokemon remains popular.
I've also gotten a bunch of ideas from Final Fantasy Tactics A 2, Okami, some of the less traditionally Pokemon-ish aspects of Pokemon Black And White...

"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Given the fact I'm a sucker for the world of Ivalice...So, yes, that was one of my main inspirations when I started writing.
There's also Mega Ten's Grey Morality and Persona's idealism.
Those are the only ones I can recall right now.
Oh, oh! I almost forgot, but Portal also has a great influence in me.
I draw some inspiration from online games (Dragon Fable) most of the time and Pokemon.
PS: What is a Pokemon Ginjika? I'm not familiar with that...

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!Moe Gijinka. Methinks she misspelt it.
I enjoyed Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask when I was young — it felt, you know when you want to lose yourself in a fantasy world because it seems so much more prettier than ours? (Link and Zelda forever! Waaaahhhh..! *blushes*) I think they have some influence on my writing. F.E.A.R. too, for all its terrific atmosphere and intense action. Most of all, I like Half-Life (and Counter-Strike), when you really are in Gordon Freeman's shoes and it seems like chaos is happening all around you.
Let me also recall my moments in GTA, where I tried and miserably failed about 100 times ze bike stunts and all the quirky missions. Good songs and ads on the radio stations. But I do not run over the innocent pedestrians in my free time, no, I am too nice for that.

Planescape Torment has made me feel like writing the story for an RPG of my own, which is probably due to my desire to make quality stuff that people would enjoy. To say the least it is a unique and exceptional game. And it is only ten dollars on Good Old Games, which is awesome.
Has ADD, plays World of Tanks, thinks up crazy ideas like children making spaceships for Hitler. Occasionally writes them down. The World Ends with You made me want to write urban fantasy with religious imagery.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess was very influential to me, it basicaly kickstarted my desire to write a Fantasy-story about an anthropomorphic wolf. The "anthropomorphic"-part came from that decision that I wanted to write about a human-like character, but not necessarily about a human per se. Why the wolf? Well, because I absolutely liked Link in his wolf-form, and because I think that wolves are awesome. ^^ And Metroid Other M (regardless of what a bad reception it had, I really like the game) helped me to decide on a different writing-style, namely the First Person-one (a ka the Character narrating everything and hearing his thoughts and opinions firsthand). Also, the Shin Megami Tensei -titles were mainly "responsible" for me making the main character of this story a little bit more "grey", concerning his morality.

Yeah actually. It was after playing Heavy Rain that I got the idea for Control. I loved how diverse a players experience playing the game could be, but was disappointed by the consistent ending, i.e the same character is always the killer. I wrote Control so that the players choices would have a genuine effect on the course of the story. I also wanted to pay homage to Reservoir Dogs, one of my favourite Tarrintino films, while poking some fun at the Gaming Industry as a whole.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.Video games tend to be a lot less inspiring to me than books, videos, or real life. As such, I've only been inspired a couple of times. One story I was going to write set in Rogue, of which the planned sequel got written but it never did, and a story about an Evil Overlord necromancer who is kind of a melding of the Forsaken and the Scourge(more like the Scourge in function, but run like a cross between the two).
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.
I'm simply curious if I'm the only one who's had this. By "inspired to write," I mean something totally otherwise unrelated to the videogame, but drew something from it anyway.
The videogames that inspired me to write(for whatever reason) tend to be RP Gs, because that's what I enjoy playing the most: Xenosaga, Breath Of Fire Dragon Quarter, and some other intricate RPG I can't remember.
What about you?
