I agree, the 40K pages need a cleanup. Now if only I wasn't so lazy.
Support, and I would recommend also making a section for gameplay tropes.
Ukrainian Red CrossHmm. A part of me is wondering if we should tweak the discussion of "a work's examples page" on What Page Types Mean. The alphabetical sort may be becoming deprecated. At the very least, it and Character Sheets are not the only two forms of that type.

While we are on the subject, how about adding in the Character Sheet of the Imperium a subsection for the Emperor as I suggested in another thread? If there is an individual who really matters in this vast universe, it 's him.
I ♥ the VRSI approve. The Primarchs, both Loyal and Traitor, are also quite important to the backstory; they could at least use a separate collective section for them.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Also in support of that. If there is a collection of 19 individuals who deserve their own character entry, it's the Primarchs and the Emperor. Maybe the Chaos Gods too....
"If everything on Earth were rational, nothing would ever happen." ~Fyodor DostoevskyOkay, let me make a list:
- The God-Emperor of Mankind
- The Primarchs - with the most prominent being: Horus (first of the Primarch to be found by the Emperor), Sanguinius (whom Horus actually considered more worthy to be the Emperor's successor when the latter conferred the Warmaster title on Horus), Roboute Guilliman (he and his Legion were largely the reason the Imperium did not collapse upon itself in the wake of the Horus Heresy, for one), and Magnus the Red (if the Emperor had reacted differently to his warning about Horus...). Two for the Loyalists, two for the Traitors; seems fair, no?
- The four Gods of Chaos
- The most distinguished non-Primarch Chaos Champions; namely: Abaddon the Despoiler (Chaos Undivided), Kharn the Betrayer (Khorne), Typhus (Nurgle), Ahriman (Tzeentch), and Lucius the Eternal (Slaanesh).
- Historical Imperial galaxy-scale VIP figures: Ollanius Pius, legendary saint of the Imperial Guard (rest of the site is largely NSFW) and arguably the most badass character in the entire setting; Goge Vandire, Sebastian Thor, Lord Macharius (of the Macharian Crusade), Inquisitor Kryptmann (foremost Imperial authority on fighting Tyranids to date), and Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!
... Did I miss anyone?
EDIT: Can't believed I forgot about Ciaphas Cain.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You'll probably want a list of links to other subworks like Ciaphas Cain.

Fight smart, not fair.We already have that on the page.
By "that" you mean...?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Agreed there really freaken large pages like this one should really be sorted by category vs alphabetical. Character pages should also be sorted by groups/Cast Herds as well.
(@Marq FJA You should do the Negima page like this too only a little more broken down.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The character page is already nicely broken down into Imperial, Xenos and Chaos, so it shouldn't be too hard to add additional characters. I'd argue that people like Cain, and Gaunt should stick to their own works character pages.
"If everything on Earth were rational, nothing would ever happen." ~Fyodor DostoevskyThey should, I'm saying there should be a note telling people that.
Fight smart, not fair. You mean like the big list on the page with the Cain, Gaunt, Horus Heresy etc book series?
Right, make sure that there's a thing on the character sheet mentioning it.
Fight smart, not fair.Add links to them to the character page and index like the way Nanoha's Character page is? Lyrical Nanoha
Where while they are attached to their respective works page they are still in the overall series index.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Sounds fair enough for me. I'm in favor.
"If everything on Earth were rational, nothing would ever happen." ~Fyodor DostoevskyWhile i agree that it needs a clean up, I don't think that your way is the right one. Can't we just further split it into A-C etc.?
Elaborate, please.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The description looks like a bloody mess. It's trying way, way, way too hard to drive the point home. It's a nasty roman-catholic future with lots of smoke and skulls. I get that. You don't have to reemphasize that ON EVERY GOD FORSAKEN SYLLABLE. There's a point where it stops being funny or even cute and it gets really fucking annoying.
Personally speaking, I found that to be quite fitting for the setting. It does take Refuge in Audacity, high octane nightmare fuel and despair event horizon after dialing them all up to eleven (and sometimes Beyond the Impossible). That said, this thread is discussing what to do with the trope list, not the description.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. We could talk about that too though... Its almost a All Blue Entry and Wall Of Texted.
And IMO categorizing them like this is so much better than A-C crap (I personally would like to do it for every large page.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I rather like the Wallof Text for the 40k page. It fits with the setting, which is honestly a rather complicated setting. You can summarize things yest, but you lose out alot on what makes the seting unique, and not just a heap of every sci-fi and fantasy trope thrown into a pile. Maybe tone down some of the things where it tries to drive home it spoints, and maybe break that big central description of the main factions into a seperate paragraphs, just to make it easier to read.

I propose splitting Warhammer 40000's quite extensive trope list * by category, in a similar manner to the trope lists on the main pages of Gunnerkrigg Court, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It would make it a lot easier if someone wanted to look for tropes that are directly concerned with WH40K's "setting", as opposed to, say, the "narrative".
Currently proposed categories (need not be implemented in its entirety):
