What? No, the options are NOT mutually exclusive. Both can be implemented. I asked the crowner to be closed because no more votes appeared, but the proposals can be done. Please eliminate the clock and call the crowner.

Oh, how unconventional. My mistake.

Calling the crowner in favour of both renaming and editing Cannibalism Superpower to cover both powers gotten by eating and powers gotten from absorbing the enemy, and also in favour of editing, revising, and probably renaming Power Parasite for literal power stealing.

I'm afraid I can't remove the clock. Just ignore it I guess.

[up] Thanks.

Now let's decide the new names for those tropes.

For Cannibalism Superpower I'd like to recover the old You Will Be Assimilated name, that is right now a redirect for The Assimilator. Otherwise I think Make You Part Of Me or some other variant could fit quite well, as the methods all have a common point: somehow making the enemy part of you.

In the case we rename Power Parasite I feel the choice should be obvious: Power Stealer.

Come on, this is a taking a lot more than it should. Any thoughts, please?

I'm sorry, I put this on my back burner for a bit. What else is there to do?

My bad.

Apply the decisions in the crowner, that's what is left to do.

EDIT: And rename the wiks accordingly.

So... Is anyone going to debate about the names, or I can decide them alone because no one seems to be interested in helping?

Doesn't sound too bad either. We could make a crowner for Cannibalism Superpower to decide the name.

Anyone opposes the rename of Power Parasite to Power Stealer?

"Stealer" isn't a word. You want "Thief". cool

Rhymes with "Protracted."

"Stealer" is an actual word (use the find function for the latter two links; it's listed as a noun form of "steal"), though it's a "nonstandard" one.

Nonstandard means that while it is used on rare occasion it is not actually proper English. So it's not a word. It's just frequently mistaken for one.

How can it be "not proper English" when it's grammatically correct?

Nonstandard means it's not grammatically correct but some people use it anyway.

Bumping. Is this still to be done here?

Re-bump. Exactly what was the decision here?

If anyone’s interested in my 2-cents:

  1. I think power stealer is an okay rename; seems just as valid as Face Stealer
  2. Since I launched it I’m kind of partial to the name Cannibalism Superpower but it’s not really "mine" anymore so something like Powers Through Absorption seems appropriate, If there’s a crowner perhaps I’ll be able to think of another name to add.

Power Thief sounds better than Power Stealer, which is somewhat childish. Also, "nonstandard" is very close to "wrong". It is like one step above not listing it at all.

Although, come to think of it, both of those kind of imply deceit. If that is undesirable, maybe something different than both.

Crown Description:

Mega Manning (now called Power Copying) has various methods to get the powers. A split was proposed, and now there is a subtrope called Your Defeat Means I Obtain Your Powers (to be renamed) that is about getting powers after defeating the enemy. However there are other methods common enough to propose more splits or other actions to improve the trope.

Vote up or down the following proposals. Please refrain yourself from editing any of them: it only leads people to vote things they didn't vote for. If you feel you have a better idea for the trope feel free to add it, but don't edit the other options.
