I believe the problem you're facing is Hype Aversion. Happens all the time.
its just that... he really liked the first game i got! he continued playing it long after i got tired and went on to new things. but every game ive bought after that first one he doesnt touch, even if i dont make a reccomendation.
Add me on skype! Dynamod1990The Commander & Conquer games have that affect on my friends, along with Mass Effect. Doesn't help that most of the gamers around here are into stuff like Call of Duty, Street Fighter IV, or Dot A.
My siblings won't play Naruto: Clash of Ninja games, StarFox Command, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie or {{Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games}} (Winter) anymore. Likewise, I don't play my bro's Halo Reach ( :-( ), and no way in hell am I playing a Co D game with him.
Now posting as Enzeru, this serves as an emergency avatar backup accountA friend of mine is probably one of the most obnoxious Kingdom Hearts fangirls you'll ever meet. She pretty much single-handedly killed any interest I had in the series.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!I feel bad 4u now, it's awesome! (Hype Backlash)

My friends are so tired of hearing about that game that there's little that can be done to let it live up to the hype.
Tales and SMT are my big offenders. I've yet to get any friends to play much of either, although they SOUND interested.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadThe Legend Of Zelda big time.

"Holy shit, this game is crazy, I'm never playing this!"
Barring that...
"There are no lolis in this game, it's all planes and tanks and Humongous Mecha. How boring."

http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comI don't usually gush about games. I only have one or two friends who are as into gaming as I am, so I'm not sure if they'd know what I was talking about. Plus, I'm really bad at describing things. I was once trying to recommend Lair to someone when it first came out. I described it as, and I quote; "Well, you're a dragon...well, no, you're a guy who rides a dragon. And...uh, you're part of this...you're in this...war. And, the story's pretty good, but the controls take some getting used to." They replied thusly; "Oh, but it got pretty bad reviews, didn't it?" I had to concede. And that is why I never gush. I can't, and it'll put people off anyway.
I have been recommending Demon's Souls left right and centre ever since I got it, though. I usually make mention of how it's "pretty hard", and that can put some people off.

The difference of opinion me and one of my friends have over Chibi Robo lead to some interesting comments about being locked in a bathroom with only a TV, a Game Cube, a microwave, and lots of canned pasta...
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIn my group of friends, all but one plays Pokemon. Mentioning Pokemon sets us all babbling happily about E Vs and the new shiny legendary trio that GameStop has and are you getting Black or White and I still can't beat Lance dammit and my Cacturne is kicking serious ass in the Battle Frontier and I'm raising a new Zangoose and...
My one friend just sort of sits there and looks uncomfortable. After a bit we sort of slow down and awkwardly switch the conversation to something she can participate in.

I keep plugging away to my wife about how awesome fallout is, but I have to temper it a lot, because part of me is curious as to how she'd do in playing it, but if I keep harping on it, I'll never get a chance to find out.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Anything made by Valve. Except for Portal, she likes Portal.
(And so can you!)This happens to my brother all the time except not in the usual way. He gets turned off by the games when I just show him clips and play music from the game incessantly. He's been turned off by Graffiti Kingdom, Shadow of Destiny, Musashi Samurai Legend, Psychonauts, Persona 4 and both of the No More Heroes games. (Couldn't get Psychonauts and Persona 4 links to work)

I seriously can't think of any clever joke.omg No More Heroes! thats a tragedy!! D=

Add me on skype! Dynamod1990I am the only person I know IRL that plays Silent Hill; and I fucking love Silent Hill.
I would put SMT here too, but I did get one of my friends into P3, and another one plays IMAGINE.
For me, it's the single best adventure game ever, beating even Super Metroid.
For my friends, "All you do is walk around without any good fights."
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.My brother doesn't show interest in most of the Virtual Console games that I buy. These included the Wonder Boy series, Blaster Master, and Kid Chameleon.
I'm discovering that many of the people I know have never heard of an Adventure Game, have never played an Adventure Game, and get somewhat confused when I try to explain the concept. With one of them, I listed off every single adventure game I'd ever heard of, unsuccessfully attempting to find one he'd recognize. (Granted, this particular fellow wasn't a frequent gamer, but I would have thought Myst would have permeated the public consciousness at least as much as Quake.)
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulEcco The Dolphin: "It sounds like a cheap Sonic knockoff." (paraphrased)
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. Most of my group, with the exception of maybe three people, all play and regularly gush over Team Fortress 2. The remaining are:
1. pretty much put off by FPS games and aren't alowed to play such things to begin with,
2. dislike interactive games in general, which is just boggling to me.
The third, I don't really know his stance on it.

I'm not a Pokemon Trainer, you zetta sons of digits!
I got Elder Scrolls: Oblivion back when i was in high school, because a friend of mine had the game and let me play it when the kids were sleeping while I babysat (ok, one of my parents friends, but a pretty cool gal none the less) and i loved it. my father got into the game too, in a big way. once bethesda started putting out fallout games, i got those too, and they were a great experience. it seems through that every game I buy sits in my parents house never to be played unless im there. metal gear solid 4, devil may cry 4, fallout 3 and new vegas, and a ton of others that I was hoping my father would enjoy too (he is a gamer like me) he doesnt touch at all.
anyone else have this problem? it seems like the more i enjoy something, the more people avoid it.
