I see someone got to this before me.
I...am really feeling uncomfortable about this. Not because of the director, but just...Bakugan? Really?
\*cocks gun*
One more time Hollywood, one more goddamn time, just try me...
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI don't get it...if you wanna profit off popularity of shows like this...wouldn't Pokemon have been the more obvious choice?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."PLEASE don't give them any more ideas.
I doubt they're even looking at tvtropes forums for ideas...
Some director just asked their kids what they like the best (at the same time secretly hoping their answer would be "daddy!" ), and their kids just yelled "bakugan!"

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Or the owners of every other anime franchise just told them "NO!"
The show already sucks. How much worse could a live action movie be?
I'm gonna guess...it's popular with the kids.
Then wouldn't live-action spongebob be a better choice?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Tempting Fate, much?

The first plot (two seasons, I think) was not that bad. A little cliche, but Tropes Are Not Bad. If it had ended there, I would argue that it was a perfectly good show with a different take on strategy card/board games. There was even a feeling of resolution/finality to the whole thing.
Then there was another season. It took the ending of the first plot, said it did not matter, brought in aliens who came out of nowhere, revived the main character's monster from the center of the Bakugan world (where he was maintaining the balance of power for the world), introduced entire new species of Bakugan (instead of just building on what was there), and left half of the main cast from the first plot on earth. It is a worse case of "we are going to continue this series, no matter what, so we can sell more merchandise" than Yu Gi Oh GX. Though not quite as bad as some Transformers series I know of. At least Bakugan tried to have a decent/continuing plot.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!How...are they gonna get a kid into Suzaku Kururugi's outfit? You know, the one Dan wears in Gundalian Invaders? That would be damn uncomfortable.

I've...I've heard of this movie since last year, but I didn't see any other news on it until now. O_o It's come back to haunt me.
As a part of the show's Periphery Demographic (the part of the fanbase that does realize how goddamn horrible the show really is), I can only see bad news coming out of this...
But then I'll probably watch it anyway. *Face Palm*

Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.I am watching this movie four times as soon as I get my hands on it.
I wonder how they're going to bring strategy here, if they're going to try at all...
I might aswell put my two cents in, this will be exactly like Bratz The Movie.
Infinity...Who else didn't read the thread title carefully and thought this was about a Bakuman movie?
We claim the land for the highlord, God bless the land and the hiiighlooord!"Hey everybody! Let's make a Live-Action Adaptation of a cartoon that only played one night on Toonami, and killed the entire block! GREAT IDEA!"
I think they want to test what happens when you combine the Suck of DB:GX, A:TLAB The Movie and Dragonball The Movie into one revolting pile of obscene "art".

It is just me who thinks this may not be that bad? Maybe because I am not a fan, but if they focus on adapting the bakugan themselves instead the characters(since the focus of the show is there) then they can make an visually impressive alternate story (the more alternate the less likely to backslash). If well done it can appease even who never heard of the series before. Like Transformers.
Isn't Bakugan popular in US? Over here children love it. My little brother has many of it merchandise (bag, toys, launch box...)

I'm not exactly sure how popular it is over here (In the US), but there is a whole section in most toy isles for it's merchandise so it must be doing fairly well. If you read my earlier post, you can get an idea for how much I liked the first season even though I am outside it's target age range.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Oi! Shut up you lot! I love Bakugan! Sure the new series sucks but I love the older ones.
(reads thread title) WHY THE FLYING FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT?!!
(Read choice of director) WHY THE FLYING FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT?!!
Oh, lordy, this is going to suck SO HARD.
And I'm yelling, because I'm typing in ALL CAPS!
We haven't heard anything since the director annoucement, the fandom has severely died down (I follow three near inactive fan groups on dA, I should know), and stores are already removing Bakugan from their shelves due to declining sales. I think it's safe to say this got canned.
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.Well, that calls for a party.
I never really cared for this series in the first place but ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME????!!!!
And its being directed by the guy behind The Karate Kid remake. Oh this is gonna be something....
