Speaking of boredom, Chuck reviewed an episode that is the farthest thing from boring today.

The Trouble with Tribbles

I always seem to learn something new when I watch Chuck's videos, even ones like that. Gotta admit that's one of the main reasons I enjoy them so much.

Is not impressed.

At this point, Sf Debris should leave Youtube. Seems the studios are cracking down on all the "amateurs" .

A lot of studios were caught buying press for their movies, at one point Sony was caught with a reviewer who only existed on paper. "He" provided positive quotes for any Sony movie. From press junkets to outright screwing the author of the work the Film of the Book is based on...nothing H'wood does surprises me.

This could go to the courts, a studio will pick on someone who will fight back.

Ummmm, waht does any of that have to do with him? At all?

First off, he already HAS quit Youtube, hell that video opened with him explaining how and why he hasn't touched the channel in years beyond a few occasional things he tried out, only to realize not to bother.

Okay, 1st off. The spate of ugly takedown is just the latest in the sordid history of rightholders trampling on the little guy.

Sf Debris wanted to use You Tube, but at this point I think he should leave.

I love You Tube for the many vids of dance, ASMR, comedy and such, but as Doug Walker pointed out, anyone can file a claim.

Even 3rd parties who only exist to screw with You Tube channels.

Google Righthaven, I'll wait.

Sf Debris is, like he said, big enough to move on. Thankfully he's with screenwave and that should keep him on the 'net.

A lot of other reviewers are getting the short end of the stick however.

Again, this has what to do with the topic at hand? He ALREADY HAS! He hasn't given a crap about youtube for YEARS beyond keeping his channel around mostly for old times sake and as backup way of putting out announcements.

He's thinking about it. Given the issues with Youtube, I think he should move. He talked about the issues with regards to Youtube. But given the issues, I think he should make the switch, have a "Coming Attractions" trailer section for his site.

.... What 'Thinking about it?" He hasn't upload a single review aside from the Book reviews and the Transformers history stuff during his switch from Blip to Screewave. He has been 'done' with the place for YEARS. How the hell can he 'be done' with it, when he hasn't done anything on that site aside from announcements, and few bits of filler during a time when he was working on a new site?

Looking forward to Valiant, a lot of reviewers on USENET at the time missed the point, that Deep Space Nine ep is a deconstruction of the "child hero in Sci-Fi" and a daming indictment of Wesley Crusher...

I don't remember this episode featuring even one dam or river being dammed. Or Wesley.

The 10th Kingdom? Heh, I remember when a buddy and I started that after a real long night... and hadn't realized it was a miniseries we just begun.

Let me just say, watching it while sleep deprived is an experience in trying to figure out which source you're tripping out on.

Valiant had nothing to do with Wesley. One kid mostly under supervision of adults vs a bunch of kids with no supervision.

Trainees have their place but someone has to be in charge of them.

Science Fiction always had the Teen Genius and kid hero tropes it inherited from The '50s. The idea that children in the future would be "super geniuses" persisted till The '90s.

Science Marches On: we know now that abstract thought and emotional maturity don't get until well after the age most Kid Hero types are shown in fiction. Hence Wesley "the weasel" Crusher was the butt of many jokes on USENET's Star Trek newsgroups.

Valiant is Wesley Up To Eleven: actually kids in charge or in space was common on several works. Hell Gundam (the first one) did have the kids in charge and (unlike a lot of US works) didn't shy away from the problems of Child Soldiers (see Neon Genesis Evangelion for the total deconstruction of child heroes).

"Valiant" could never have been made on Gene's watch, not just because of his Mary Sue but also because the idea of KidHeroes was still too ingrained in Sci-fi.

Now superhero works do get a pass, especially works aimed at kids.

The adults watching Star Trek on the other hand, we didn't wanna see no cute kids.

Evangelion doesn't deconstruct anything that the original Mobile Suit Gundam didn't do already.
