I'm looking for:
- Something similar to Scott Pilgrim in terms of subject matter and/ or total insanity
- Anything with a Dysfunction Junction that's either played for laughs, or with a good number of sympathetic characters.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Schitzo:
In terms of plot and characterization, the closest I can think of would be No More Heroes.
^ People keep saying that, but why? I skimmed through the summary and watched a video clip, but I don't see the similarity.
Biophilic bookworm by day, gentleman adventurer by night.Any good fiction starring a Bonnie And Clyde/ Battle Couple?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I'm looking for some creepy/mind screw animation. Preferrably a film, but a series would also be nice. I've dug up all of the most fucked up Eastern Animation I can, but if anyone has knowledge of anything else I just might have to marry them. Anime would be nice too, probably, and easier to find.
The Glass Harmonica? :P
survival of the tight-lippedSeen it. :P
Satoshi Kon's stuff looks interesting, but I need somewhere I can go from there.
You esoteric, gurl. How bout this?
survival of the tight-lippedIn terms of having an eerie setting, my first idea would be Ergo Proxy. If you're talking more of Deranged Animation weird, Mind Game might be something.
You could also try the A Scanner Darkly movie, I hear it's go really Deranged Animation.
Or, you could look at the examples on that page.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!...the worst part is, Aoede, I've seen all of them but the stop-motion one and Coonskin. I don't like Bakshi much. >_<
@Fluid: Mind Game is exactly what am I looking for. :D Thank you.
You might also like to try Fantastic Planet.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Does anyone know any good autobiographies written by autists?
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Apparently Temple Grandin has written some stuff, some of which sounds autobiographical...ish. Check it out?
survival of the tight-lippedYeah, some of her stuff was mentioned in An Anthropologist on Mars, the last two chapters of which focus on autism, and the last last focusing on her, so I think it might be a good start.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Oh, and not a book rec, but something that might or might not be a useful tool — a list of autistic bloggers' posts for Autistics Speaking Day.
survival of the tight-lipped^^Ooo,I know this one!
http://ballastexistenz.autistics.org/ is an autist's blog. Worth a look, even if you don't agree with her.
The Unwritten Rules of Social Interaction by Temple Grandin and Sean Barron is also recommended. Supposed to be a self-help book, but it's also autobiographical.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.Good works featuring Badass Normal/ Action Survivor protagonists?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Moribito Guardian Of The Spirit features one, and it's a very good book series as well as anime.
Any translated VN to recommend?
@Schitzo: Indiana Jones and Uncharted seems right up your alley.
Also, sorry for the ignorance, but what's a VN?
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.edited 26th Jan '11 10:30:49 AM by Fluid
Looking for an atypical high school work. Similar in vein to Daria and the like.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.
Not in the way that you get to watch the characters living the same thing over and over, but it's implied that it happens.
She's playing with fire! He's not ready for Nibbly Pig!
