Newt: Well, Yahtzee has a gigantic boner for the Thief series, so might want to look those up.
Myself, I've got a hankering for a good, fast-paced old-school FPS to play. Something with a lot of speed, lots of mooks to kill, and generally nothing more complicated than keycard fetchquests as far as "puzzles" go. Basically, I just need something to tithe me over between Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Any ideas?
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection! If you've got either of the first two Doom games, try using Oblige. Makes levels for those based on random algorithms.
I tweaked the settings and ended up with about 10 levels consisting of hundreds of badass monsters, gigantic spaces to fight in, weaponry out the ass, and health kits everywhere. It rules.

"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeOhoho, not a bad idea at all.
Does it just generate the .wad files on its own? So can I use any of the Doom source ports, like Skulltag or somesuch, with it?

"...Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" -WashI don't listen to them, but Radiohead is supposed to be the next all of them. *

She's playing with fire! He's not ready for Nibbly Pig!Yeah, it makes its own .wad files. I think it's compatible with all of the source ports; I've been using it without trouble in Doomsday, but it gave me some grief in Doom Legacy, heh.
月を見るたび思い出せFor those of you who have never tried visual novels, I recommend Brass Restoration as a good (and free!) start. Ryo's thought process alone makes it worth it.
I also recommend Snow Crash. Just 'cause.
Also I would recommend that anybody who likes comedy should watch Blackadder. Watch for BRIAN BLESSED/Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie, stay for Tony Robinson.
"...Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" -WashI've been noticing a recent trend in "How would nerdy folk handle X" works. Movies like Zombieland and Kickass.
Any other works that fall along this line?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.bump for ^ post
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.^ Take a look through Action Survivor for things like the movies you mentioned. Haven't seen it, but Shaun Of The Dead sounds similar.
Not exactly what you want, but dare I suggest Jurassic Park?

She's playing with fire! He's not ready for Nibbly Pig!I'm back to writing my high school black comedy again. And you know what that means:
for the sake of research and inspiration, I'd like you to recommend me some essential (or not) fiction on the subject of young 'uns and the crazy crap they do. Anime, Film, TV, Video Games, doesn't matter. And i'd like you to recommend them in the following categories: Classics, Cult Classics, Obscure and Snark Bait. or alternatively, Comedies, Dramas, and Black Comedies/Dramedies
Some of the stuff i've liked:
- American Graffiti
- Battle Royale
- Beavis And Butthead
- Cromartie High School
- Daria
- Dazed And Confused
- Donnie Darko
- Election
- Fast Times At Ridgemont High
- FLCL
- Freaks And Geeks
- Ghost World (Film and Graphic Novel)
- Heathers
- Rant
- River City Ransom (And most of the Kunio Kun series)
- Scott Pilgrim (On the 4th book)
Things i didn't like:
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Alright, this is a bit different, but:
I'm looking for a new pair of relatively inexpensive headphones. Preferably a headset with a microphone.
Name your recommendations.
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection!Hm... I've always liked Sony's headphones. They make good Big Fucking Headphones.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.The prospect of a series of hour-long train rides, on the first of which I have presently embarked, moves me to consider the necessity of acquiring more music. Any suggestions?
In particular I could use some recommendations for trance, which I've enjoyed when I've heard it but never really known where to start looking for more.

Stealth games anything like Trilby: The Art Of Theft, anyone? Either for Wii or PC, but for the latter nothing too hardware-intensive.
