No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Today's Forge World pre-order is a weird Sisters of Silence skimmer the Kharon-pattern Acquisitor. Is it just me or does it look◊more like something out of Star Wars?
It does kind of remind me of the MTT from Phantom Menace, if smaller.
I wonder if we'd end up seeing Primaris units representing the mutations of various legions - like an actual unit for Primaris Wulfen or Black Company.
Probably not. Iirc, its stated that Cawl got the gene-seed of the Primaris Marines to be like 99.99% stable.
You guys make me want to buy a Cawl mini more and more. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
... And that's called jazz!He's a Blood Magpie, only he's canon.
It's great.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Blood Ravens are canon.
Can we just make Cawl the Arch-Magos of Mars? XD
So, my roommate bought the new rulebook and I'm giving it a read-through. We've stalled badly on 40k, too many models and no games under our belts.
The time has come to change that.
Maybe.
Anyway, glue. Gluing the goddamn models is the biggest problem I have. Maybe I wait too fucking long with my glue, bu the liquid never seems to hold and the nozzle Lok-tight crusts over. Any advice for what glue I should be using? Or some way to do this better?
Zap-A-Gap for Superglue. It works on plastic, metal and resin.
Testors model cement if you want plastic gluenote
The difference between the two is the former is good if you ever plan on taking a model apart to fiddle with the parts again. The latter is good for a more permanent bond.
And the nozzle crusting over is just an issue with all types of superglue, sadly.

Cawl is adming to be fabricator general of mars, the guy is not playing small....
and yes, he is so far one of the best chararter in the new canon, I hope TTS put him already.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I'm not sure how I feel about the Imperium finally breaking from the so far nigh-absolute technological stagnation and it's apparently all due to one guy.
Gotta respect a dude that's so committed to the superiority of the machine that he's basically a towering mechanical abomination with a couple fleshy bits here and there, though.
I think it's more that Cawl's been keeping all the good shit under wraps until Guilliman told him to release it.
It turns out that in ten thousand years you can actually get quite a lot done!
Cawl's also an Explorator technically, and his little project for Guilliman was implied to have been sidetracked for millenia for the usual Explorator duties. It took a Harlequin reminding him about it that even brought him to Cadia to help defend it.
Cawl wants to be Fabricator-General, but Guilliman is reluctant to promote him. He doesn't quite trust Cawl despite (or maybe because) of everything he's done. He also knows that the rest of the cogboys who aren't as heretical (all of them) would balk at the promotion. Cawl's "servitor" and his suggestion to activate Traitor and Lost Legion Primaris Marines also freaked out Guilliman.
Disgusted, but not surprisedBasically Cawl is The Friend Nobody Likes, but at least he builds excellent doomsday devices.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies."I suppose I could part with one and still be feared." - Belisarius Cawl
I have two Cadian Infantry squads and I don't know what to convert them into. Thoughts?
- Stormtroopers (with greatcoats and converted hellguns)
- Trench Raiders (count-as Ogryns, using heavy body armour, shotguns and melee weapons)
- Just make them more Infantry
Cawl's only friends are his servitors. And his servitors are AI copies of his own mind.
Cawl has basically secluded himself in a massive echo chamber for 10,000+ years.
Small wonder that he is the way he is.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAll the lore about Cawl makes me SO want that mini.
I kinda liked that part of the Tau's schtick was that they actually learned and improved and innovated, though.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.To be fair, that is only when compare to the imperium, the tyranid leanr, so the orks and depend how you see it, so the dark eldar, only the imperium(who learing drive is weird) the eldar and the crons dosent learn or create anything new.
Anyway, I have a question, we all know GW like to use fantasy counterpart to their space marines, what warrior culture would be awsome for the to use?, I like to thing the aztec would make a great culture mold for space marines: warlike? check, religious aspect on it? check, pratice that would be consider to strong? check, civilized and understanding? check.
Hell even their mythos would fit: the emperor as solar god that demand the defeat of their enemies to leave each day(well, taking the heart of the enemy is similar to drawing psyker every day to feed the golden throne), a quezacoalth like entity who will be the father of the chapter and having jaquar and eagle waririor as specialties.....
Yeah, im a little pissed right now.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"The Drukhari are also stuck in their ways. Their lifestyle has not changed since the time of the Aeldar Empire. It just has an added air of desperation with Slasnesh looming over them. The Drukhari have no qualms using all of the tech their race once had at the height of their power, unlike the Craftworlders and as Exodites. They cannot use Wraithbone, since their own psychic powers are atrophied.
Disgusted, but not surprised
Magnus gathers his eldritch legions for the killing blow against the Wolves when suddenly he gets a DYNAMIC ENTRY dropkick straight to the face by one pissed-off Leman Russ?
I'm more making the point that the Primaris aren't all organised according to gene stock.
