- Legacy Character:
- This movie introduces a new incarnation of Butterfly Ninja Benikiba from Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
- Mad Gallant turns out to be Lars, who built his armor using pieces of the original Mad Gallant from Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion.
- Legion of Doom: Genmakuu, an alliance of villains from across the Metal Heroes franchise named in homage to the Makuu from Space Sheriff Gavan.
- Mask of Sanity: When Geki first enters Smile and Gentleness, the CEO Lars appears to be a pushover bullied into aiding Mad Gallant. It later turns out that he IS Mad Gallant, and is very much a sociopath.
- Red Herring: Mad Gallant at first seems to be the original resurrected, even having Jyunichi Haruta reprise his role. But it's actually Lars taking up his armor and combat ability.
- Reunion Show: Unites the complete Dekaranger cast who had last assembled in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: 10 Years After two years prior.
- Sequel Hook: Though Genmakuu are thwarted here, Benikiba mentions Coolgin, a villain from Chōjinki Metalder, as a fellow Genmakuu member who is currently active.
- Versus Title: The first installment of Space Squad is titled much like Gokaiger vs. Gavan, though there is no conflict between Gavan and the Dekarangers here.
