YMMV / The Walten Files

  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • Sophie and almost everything related to her. We don't know why the animatronics are going after her, though, considering what Bon did to Brian, we can guess, at least, one of them has a grudge. Likewise, since she's implied to have been there when Rosemary was dismembered and stuffed into Sha, we'd have to wonder if she had a direct hand in it and, if she was, what were her motives? If she was forced to lure Rosemary back to Bon's location, who forced her? Or was she just a witness?
    • Who's Charles and what's his connection to all of this? Did he work for Bunny Smiles? Was he friend of Jack and Felix? A benefactor? If he was unrelated to the Bon's Burgers and Bunny Smiles conspiracy, why was he murdered?
    • The Animatronics motives. Are they really after Sophie or, knowing what happened after his drunk driving accident, were they really going after Felix?
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In Company Introductory Tape, there's a moment near the end of the video that has a shifting 3D model of a face while an odd noise plays in the background. It doesn't seem to relate to anything else in the video or any other current videos. Though Martin eventually stated that it's meant to represent Bon's faulty facial recognition software, it's still extremely jarring and weird.
    • It could also be a representation of how Brian's face was distorted when he was murdered.
  • Complete Monster ("The Mysterious House"): The Pumpkin Rabbit is a robotic, masked rabbit who invites two children named Duckie and Tammy to his house to stay over for the night. In reality, however, he's a sadistic Serial Killer who has been killing children like this for what's implied to be years. Once Tammy enters one of the rooms in the house, she finds the mutilated corpses of Duckie and three other kids who met the same fate before them. Once the Pumpkin Rabbit sees her, he kills and mutilates her corpse too, escaping without any punishment for his crimes.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The buildup and aftermath of Felix Kranken getting Jack Walten's youngest children killed in a drunk driving accident is horrifying. The first bit of text to pop up after it happens treats the event as if it were an overly enthusiastic end screen in a video game.
OH NO! YOU GOT THE BAD ENDING!
you crashed the car! You killed them!!
  • Fanon Welding: Since the series first emerged on Youtube, many viewers believed that the eponymous rabbit mascot of the in-universe Bon's Burgers restaurant chain is not just an expy of Bonnie from Five Nights at Freddy's, but also is none other than Bonnie himself. More specifically, that Bonnie is actually a Canon Immigrant to the mascot cast of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and that Bon was his original incarnation in the past. This was later addressed by the series' creator in a community announcement; Fazbear Entertainment does exist in the continuity of The Walten Files, but has nothing to do with Bon's Burgers nor is it plagued by the tragedies and supernatural events of the canon FNaF continuity. As such, Bon and Bonnie are, and will be two entirely separate characters with no relation to one another.
  • Heartwarming Moments: If you type "Jenny Letterson" after the url for findjackwalten.com, you'll find a conversation between Jenny and Sophie after BunnyFarm where Jenny is nothing but patient and compassionate with her extremely distraught girlfriend and tells her she doesn't think she's crazy and that she'll help her with whatever happens next.
  • Growing the Beard: Vol 4 for some felt like a big step up, with the introduction of full cartoon animation with an interesting style, the lack of loud of obnoxious jumpscares and the introduction of "Bon".
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This wouldn't be the first time that a character with some relation to Bonnie in a FNaF inspired work was dismembered by a relative before possessing an animatronic; only this time, the person possessing the rabbit animatronic was the one to cause the dismemberment rather than be the one who was dismembered.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Felix Kranken, at least from this far in the story, is presented as a severe alcoholic who has been rendered a pathetic, miserable wretch of a man by his addictions. Driving out his wife with his alcoholism, he shortly afterwards hesitantly picked up his friend's children after a school party, killing them in a drunken car crash and burying their bodies in an unmarked grave due to his horror and inability to own up to what his failures had costed him. Following the events of the restaurant in 1974, Felix attempted to keep the possessed animatronics containing his co-workers and several employees in a remote location, resulting in the deaths of 2 other individuals. Felix's irresponsibility has costed both him and those around him dearly, and his misguided attempts to fix his horrible mistakes even moreso.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Narm: Some people may find Sophie's reactions to the game to be unintentionally funny since she sounds rather calm about what's happening. It's theorized that whatever she takes that makes her forget most of her past has the side effect of making her numb to the world around her, while Jenny says that she'd be into the creepy visual glitches happening which implies she's a fan of horror, but it still takes quite a while for the increasingly nightmarish happenings to really sink in.
  • Viewer Species Confusion: Some are unsure of whether Sha is supposed to be a sheep or a poodle, due to sporting sharp Scary Teeth that resemble those of a canine's. A piece of artwork by Martin Walls depicting Bon and Sha in a chibi-like artstyle, however, depicts the latter with black hooves for hands and feet instead of the endoskeleton extremities seen in previous videos, confirming her to be indeed a sheep.
