Tear Jerker / The Walten Files

Go To

Despite the heavy amount of Nightmare Fuel, The Walten Files still has plenty of sad moments.

As this is a Tear Jerker page, spoilers will be left unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

    Relocate Project
  • The Scene with Banny stuck in a room ends with one after she stops trying to escape and starts crying, indicating that she gave up. It implies that Susan also gave up before she died.
  • The text, that appears after Ashley's death.
"they left the next day, they thought Ashley left early, but she was in the backdoors, screaming as much as she could, but no one heard the screams, the following days the caretakers would complain about an awful smell coming from the backdoors, company decided to shut down the facility until new advice, the relocate project was unsuccessful. Ashley is still there, but she's not screaming anymore, she saw something she wasn't supposed to see, and now she's beautiful, she's beautiful, she's beautiful, she's beau-"
  • "He is so sorry about what he did to them, but there is nothing he can do. Remember that." from Lucky You. It has 2 meanings: 1) Jack, trapped in Bon, is Forced to Watch how his family and friends are killed and 2) Felix blaming himself for Edd and Molly's death and can't find a way to fix it.

    Bunnyfarm
  • The scene where Sophie reads the diary of Felix's former wife Linda, which talks about their Awful Wedded Life which ends with Linda divorcing him due to his drinking addiction.
  • "That's... Ed and Molly. That's Ed and Molly.". And you know what's even worse? This is the last words Sophie said in the video!
  • The immense Wham Episode near the end of the third episode which reveals what lead to this entire series of events. Felix, a severe alcoholic and co-owner of the company, ended up driving business partner Jack Walten's 2 children home while drunk, getting into a car accident and killing both of them, before burying their bodies in shame and to spare Jack from having to see them dead. Even worse, we see Jack furiously attempting to talk to Felix, who has refused to call the phone hours after his children died.
  • The sheer anguish and despair in Felix's horrified cries, which plays right after the footage of the car accident that killed Ed and Molly. It's the sound of a man who has committed a horrible, yet avoidable mistake, that he can never make up for.
  • Jack’s final phone call. He sounds like he’s on the verge of tears, and though he’s angry at Felix, he still trusts him, not knowing what happened.
Jack: If anything happened, Felix, you must tell me.

    Guilty
  • This is probably the only "Walten Files" episode that is more sad than scary. It begins with tapes of Felix a few years prior, sounding optimistic for the future of the company, only to cut to shortly after the car crash, where he's coughing and sobbing and barely coherent. Even worse, he demonstrates his It's All About Me characteristics when he points to concern about how this will affect the opening of the restaurant. It makes it difficult to choose to pity or despise him.
    Cyber-Fun Tech
  • We get to witness the aftermath of the drunken accident where Felix killed Edd and Molly. After he buried them, Felix also dug a grave for himself, laying in it all night long with Rocket Bunny sitting before him, the implications being obvious. After waking up the next day, he crawls out of the grave and travels to a cliff overlooking a river. He starts throwing Edd and Molly's bloodied possessions into the river to get rid of the evidence, and comes close to tossing himself right in after them.
    • The very same night of the accident, Jack drives to Felix's empty house and starts pounding on the door, switching between incandescent rage and tearful pleading for the man he thought was his best friend to open up and reveal where his kids are. At the end of the scene, Jack ominously tells Felix that if he did anything to the children, he'll kill him himself, signaling that their friendship is over at this point.
Jack: (sniffling, very obviously in tears) Felix, please open the door. Please open the door, just please- just open the door! Felix... FELIX!! (pounds on the door)
    • After this, we learn Felix eventually told Jack and Rosemary the truth about the accident. While we don't see their reactions, Felix confirms that they quite obviously hate him for it, and it's implied that this event preceded Jack's disappearance.
Felix: It was the longest hour of my life. The most painful conversation I've ever had. The pain in their eyes, the anger... they both hate me now. And...I don't blame 'em.
  • There is an understated, yet profound, sadness to Charles and Susan's interactions during animatronic testing. Their banter and similar opinions on things give the implication that these two were really good friends, especially as when one wants to do something, neither protest or suggest doing something else. Their friendship was also deep enough that Susan is familiar with Charles' familial situation, and asks how his daughter is doing. Their wholesome friendship only makes their inevitable fates all the more harder to think about in retrospect.
Charles: What happens if the robot falls or comes across any object?
Susan: Then we're gonna have to test this out again until we get this right.
Charles: It'll be a looong night then! (Chuckles)
    Susan: Heh. You said it.
  • Regarding Charles, the situation becomes even more dramatic: in the Boozoo minigame in the previous episode ("Bunnyfarm"), he is preparing the birthday party of a little girl named Lily, and in episode 4 it is confirmed that he has a daughter with the same name; it's literally like he's preparing a birthday party for his daughter Lily, who he couldn't say goodbye to before dying and who he'll never see again.
  • Molly and Edd are still around, in a sense, confirmed to both be possessing Rocket. Felix couldn't bring himself to get rid of the toy, and kept it as a reminder of his mistake. He can still hear the kids trying to talk to him, asking for him. We hear Felix briefly sound elated when he hears someone knocking on the door and hearing Molly's voice, only to break down crying once he only finds the stuffed rabbit behind the door.
  • Susan's more visualized death is both this and Nightmare Fuel. Beforehand, she's briefly seen talking with Charles about Felix's incident and how they both don't believe his "bullshit story" on what happened to Edd and Molly. We then see the moment were she tried to perform maintenance on Bon by herself, which all but seals her fate. Bon grabs her in one fell swoop and silences her by breaking her neck to paralyze her, then gouges her eyes out and mutilates her face to make her "beautiful".
    • We also learn that Rocket was in the room as Susan was undergoing her torture, Edd and Molly each taking over one of the toy's eyes to witness what Bon was doing to her, at which point Bon looks at them and shushes them. After this, it's revealed that their spirits are trying to find Susan to save her from whatever "Bon" actually is, despite being scared of him. They're unfortunately too late to reach her before "Bon" convinces her to be Banny. Unlike what was previously thought, Edd and Molly aren't malicious ghosts at all, which makes their situation even more tragic.
    • Susan briefly wakes up after being stuffed inside Banny to see someone enter the room. This presumably led to the "rabbit is starving" segment from "Relocate Project", where she tried to get help from Felix or whomever else it was that came in, until she eventually starved to death.
    Lacrimosa
  • Charles is revealed to be desperately looking for Susan after her 'disappearance'. It's really obvious by the tone of his voice in the phone call that he was devastated to hear that his fellow co-worker and friend went missing, and is asking for anyone to give him information on what happened to her. This makes this video all the more painful to watch, as Susan is still struggling in the backroom of Bon's Burgers, before Bon put the Banny mask on her and she subsequently started wandering, despite the horrific state of her body, to try and find help that we know will never come.
    • The sequence also opens a very sad question: Was Charles killed and forced into Boozoo because he was looking for Susan? Did Bon catch on that he was trying to find her and decided to bring them together as friends? He did say he was watching Susan before he made her "beautiful".

General

  • Knowing what we know, Sophie's entire situation is this. One by one, she lost her entire family, was made to take pills to forget what happened, and then there's the fact "Uncle" Felix, someone she and her family loved and trusted, was responsible for the catalyst that destroyed the Waltens. We don't know how she feels about that last part but, if Bunnyfarm tells us anything, she might lose it.
