YMMV / The Lion King Adventures

Go To

  • Alas, Poor Scrappy: Tara explodes in My Immortal. Despite this, some fans actually wanted her to live and be a girlfriend for Haiba.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: While the author thinks of You-Know-Who as God, the character can be interpreted in different ways.
  • Awesome Art: TLKA fan art is quite common. A couple of prominent artists are listed below:
  • The Catchphrase Catches On: The vast majority of the fans love saying the Interceptor's catch phrase: "I like it!"
  • Complete Monster: The Writer is responsible for all the bad things that happen in the story, and is the true villain of the series. The Writer created the world Simba and his friends lived in, and had caused every evil act in that world. The Writer also created all the other villains in the story. The Writer's creations included Scar, as well as evil versions of Timon and Pumbaa who drain the souls of cubs. He had always been trying to kill Simba and his friends or ruin their lives for fun, and at the end of the series, he goes into the world himself to kill Simba and his friends so he can take over and rule the world for eternity as he destroys thousands of lives for his own amusement.
  • Creator Worship: A lot of the fans really appreciate the series and the effort that goes into it. Recursive fan fiction, artwork, audio recordings and even music have come about as a result of the series.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Haiba, with his sheer cheesiness
  • Evil Is Cool: Most of the villains would count. Scar and Hago are the obvious candidates, along with Death, Shocker, Interceptor, and many, many others...
  • Fan Nickname: A few examples.
    • The evil alternate version of Haiba in The Love Triangle is commonly referred to as Anti-Haiba by fans.
    • The series is commonly referred to in the abbreviated form: TLKA.
  • Fanon: The series has its own fandom. Fans delight in discussing stories – and even writing some of their own – on The Lion King Adventures Forum.
  • Genre Turning Point: Before this series came along, most stories featuring Simba and Nala were focused purely on cute, fluffy romance. Once the series came around, stories involving these characters became much more action-packed.
  • Narm:
    • Simba, Nala and Haiba, tiny cubs, are consistently able to overpower and sometimes kill fully grown lions. These battles are consistently played up as ultimate showdowns. It's already ridiculous the first time Simba fights Hago, but you'll be rolling in the aisles when it's "professional assassin" and supposed Lightning Bruiser Interceptor's turn.
    • All the times the cub characters are described grabbing someone and putting them on their backs. They're just cubs; by all rights, they shouldn't have the strength to carry someone, even if it is another cub. And just how are they putting them on their backs if they are mostly anatomically-correct lions?
  • Nausea Fuel: Tara's exploding guts landing on Simba, Nala, and Haiba at the end of My Immortal. It's so disgusting that it moves Simba to utter the following line:
  • Paranoia Fuel: The Writer is the creator of the universe, and everyone in it is just a character. This might make you paranoid that you're just a character in a story…
  • Take That, Scrappy!: Tara in My Immortal is a pathetic character, and often made fun of.
  • Too Cool to Live: The Hermit of Hekima.
    • Haiba, arguably the most popular character of them all, dies in The End. However, he comes back.
  • Unpopular Popular Character: Every single TLKA fan loves Haiba to death, but not everyone in the series takes too much of liking to him. Even Simba and Nala are disturbed by his romantic actions sometimes.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The series is rather dark and violent, especially as it goes on, and even features Scar, the simultaneously loved and despised villain of the original film, raping a teen lioness and contemplating doing the same to Nala, a cub.
