Zombo.com was bound to have a ripoff or two, being one of the earliest internet memes. Enter Obmoz.com, the site that shamelessly admits it's a ripoff... due to the narrator, Obmoz, bitterly trying to cash in on the success of his brother Zombo.
You can't get these tropes at Zombo.com:
- All There in the Manual: Obmoz's last name is "Nefarious", as revealed by the "Save the Spiral Foundation" website linked on Obmoz.com.
- Always Second Best: Obmoz, to Zombo.
- Blatant Lies: As with Zombo.com, you can't do anything at Obmoz.com, no matter how much Obmoz claims otherwise.
- Buffy Speak: Obmoz refers to the flashing circle at the center of Obmoz.com as the "colorful blinking thingy".
- Chewing the Scenery: Obmoz. Practically every word he speaks is intoned as either a Cold Ham or a Large Ham.
- Childhood Brain Damage: Obmoz claims Zombo is afflicted by this. This may be another lie.
- Department of Redundancy Department: The opening lines, in imitation of Zombo.com. "Welcome to Obmoz.com! Obmoz.com, welcome. Everyone is welcome at Obmoz.com!"
- Distinction Without a Difference: It might seem as though Obmoz.com and Zombo.com are both functionally identical, being static websites with audio playing that introduces you to the website, but rest assured: Obmoz will go out of his way to inform you that Obmoz.com is much deeper and more capable.
- Driven by Envy: Obmoz likely made Obmoz.com to capitalize on the success of his brother's website.
- A God Am I: Downplayed. "Obmoz.com is omnipotent, compared to Zombo.com!"
- Follow the Leader: In-universe. Obmoz essentially remakes Zombo's exact website, but with a few minor improvements (the circles being brighter, and there being more of them), and spends most of his monologue trying to convince you how much better it is than Zombo.com.
- Hypocritical Humor: Obmoz fails to notice that his website is exactly as non-functional as Zombo's.The only limit at Zombo.com, is the time you have to waste at Zombo.com, to listen to his drivel.
- Parental Favoritism: Obmoz's mother always preferred Zombo over him.
- Please Subscribe to Our Channel: "Thank you for visiting Obmoz.com! Please bookmark Obmoz.com, and come back often, to fulfill your wildest dreams and fantasies."
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: "Welcome to ALL who visit Obmoz.com, to-DAY, and for ALL E-TER-NI-TY."
- Small Name, Big Ego: Obmoz, even more so than Zombo, as he needs to sell his website as infinitely better than his brother's functionally identical website.
- Thanking the Viewer: At the end, Obmoz thanks you for visiting Obmoz.com.
- Trivially Obvious: One of the many features of Obmoz.com, as espoused by Obmoz, is that you can close your eyes, imagine something, and it will appear in your mind.
- Unreliable Narrator: As with Zombo.com, Obmoz greatly oversells the potential of his website.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Obmoz mentions how his mother always liked Zombo best, so earning his mother's approval could be one motivation for him making Obmoz.com.
