Denny is a slightly scatter-brained but nice high school student (even if she doesn't look it), who daydreams a lot. One day, she daydreams an anvil hitting her teacher on the head. Unfortunately for her, he somehow actually gets hit by it, and he is pissed.
So begins FanFyria
, a fantasy webcomic by Denitsa Petkova. With one thing leading to another, Denny soon finds herself in the strange land of FanFyria, where spirits of creativity called Muses dwell. However, the mysterious Void threatens this land, and Denny soon finds herself caught up in the struggle against it.
A Web Serial Novel named FanFyria Journeys runs parallel to the plot of the webcomic, and can be found here.
The comic concluded in May 2014, with the artist teasing at a possible sequel/prequel. Sure enough, in September 2014, FanFyria II kicked off, with a now college-age Denny deciding she wants to learn magic.
These webcomics provide examples of:
- Alien Non-Interference Clause: A fantastic example. As the divine Messenger of Fyria, Zenther is not allowed to interfere with humans. When it comes to Denny nearly drowning, though, he is willing to screw the rules.
- The Chosen One: Denny is the third one. The first two somehow both failed, with not much revealed about their fate.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: Denny's first defining trait.
- Cloud Cuckoolander:
- Denny's second defining trait.
- The pirate captain Tenzo is also a little...warped. His niece and nephew have a tough time keeping him out of trouble.
- Cute Mute: Zenther. He communicates with magic writing.
- Guardian Entity: Many humans have Muses, who provide all their creative inspiration. Those who reject their human become Un-Muses, and risk being swallowed by the Void. Grumps is such an Un-Muse.
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Denny turns into this whenever alcoholic drinks are available.
- The Nicknamer: Denny, to the point where Grumps is only known by the nickname she's given him.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Grumps, as per above.
- Our Demons Are Different: They are called Sins, and are the result of the Void consuming an Un-Muse.
- Power of the Void: It is implied to be sentient, and is destroying FanFyria piece by piece.
- Saintly Church: The church of Fyria, which is the main force standing against the Void.
- Super-Deformed: The art style of the webcomic.
