DESTROY HUMANOID!note

Created by Stash Club, Friday Night Funkin': Arcade Archives (formerly known as VS Evil Otto) is a mod that crosses over with multiple arcade game properties, with the mod's current main focus being on Evil Otto and Polybius.

The main story is that Boyfriend stumbles into an old arcade one day, coming across the creepy myths circulating arcade games. The mod can be downloaded here.

BEWARE, THESE TROPES LIVE!

  • Adaptational Species Change: Boyfriend goes through this in the three Pac-Man related songs.
    • For "High Score" and "Insert Soul", he takes the form of a ghost in the same vein as the originals.
    • In "Infringement", he instead has an appearance that resembles Crazy Otto's game's enemies.
  • Batter Up!: At the end of "Street Smarts", Scott walks right up to the Polybius arcade machine and whacks it with a bat, knocking it over with a bowling strike sound.
  • Chase Fight: The entirety of "Sinistar" plays out as this, with Boyfriend on the receiving end of the chase and Sinister himself pursuing the blue rapper in a spaceship.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Should Pico lose at any time in "Caved In", Caver will strike him through the skull with his weapon, fracturing it. Keep in mind that the only other unique Game Over screen so far involves a screen with Nintendont looking at the screen with a Face Framed in Shadow and blood splatters everywhere, implying whatever he did to Sonic wasn't pretty.
  • Darker and Edgier: This applies to the majority of several songs, particularly creepy fan works related to both Pac-Man and Dig Dug (as well as an upcoming song for a horror take on Q*bert).
  • Denser and Wackier: In contrast to the horror theme present throughout the mod, "Infringement" and "Life Cycle" stand out as being more funny to see in comparison, the former being against a bootleg Pac-Man (which, of course, became the real Pac's wife), and the latter against a PNG of House of the Dead 2's Caleb Goldman. Upcoming song, "Mistranslation", also qualifies, being based off a game famous for its poorly-translated opening sequence.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: In the second half of "Gravedigger", Thomas/the Anomaly shows up, before smashing out of the game window and making it disappear, leading to the remainder of the song to be the player up against him, like his game of origin.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: At the near-end of "Cabinet Funk", everyone except for Boyfriend vanishes as Lemon Demon shows his face (the FNF character, not the musician).
  • Interface Screw: Throughout "Polybius", the titular arcade machine causes Boyfriend's side of the screen to be glitched out over time. Downplayed in that this doesn't affect the strumline.
  • It's All About Me: Nintendont has this mindset about the Mario games, to the point where being remotely close by to Sonic is a major Berserk Button for him.
Nintendont: Nintendo number one! HAHAHAHAHAHA! The ONLY one!
  • Lighter and Softer: The songs "Turbotastic", "Infringement", "Life Cycle", "Street Smarts" (despite Polybius's presence) and "Cabinet Funk" (if not counting the surprise Hostile Show Takeover near the end) all lack any horror scenarios, instead being more light-hearted songs that stand out from the other Darker and Edgier songs present in the mod.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • "Gravedigger" has this towards the "Dig-Dug.EXE" fangame it's based off, starting with Boyfriend up against the Pooka that's meant to be destroyed to "free" the anomaly. When this doesn't work, the Anomaly instead opts to go further, forcing the battle into the player's desktop just like how the final fight against him played out. The fake news website present in the original game also comes up on an internet browser once you've beaten the song.
    • At the end of "Street Smarts", Polybius and Scott both sing the latter's iconic theme tune.
    • "Cabinet Funk" is drawn entirely in the style of the original song's fanmade music video.
    • Upcoming song "Prism" aims to be as authentic as possible to the "Q*Bert Arcade" game it originated from, right down to the Doomed by Canon situation Coily goes through.
  • Nightmare Face: Evil Otto, of course, sports a lot of these during his song, especially when he Turns Red.
  • Promoted to Playable: Pico during "Caved In", Sonic during "One and Only", and Scott the Woz during "Street Smarts".
  • Reference Overdosed: "Polybius" contains several leitmotifs in its song, mainly for Cabinet Man, "Phantasm", "Anchored", "GAME OVER" and "Missingno".
  • The Stinger: At the end of the Chapter 1 week, the plug on Polybius is pulled by a mysterious man and is shut down, snapping Boyfriend back to his senses. Said man then offers to ask him a few questions, before the traditional To Be Continued screen comes up.
  • Weaponized Exhaust: Boyfriend utilizes this at the very end of "Sinistar" to escape and blow the titular sentient space station backwards. The blast even happens to be strong enough to take out Sinistar's arrows.
