I'm a Norwegian, guy.
Spent the last eight years earning two Bachelor's degrees, and I still don't have a job (I am getting closer to fulfilling my dream job as a librarian, so I'm keeping my chin up).
I enjoy:
- Video games
- Drawing
- Reading
- TV Tropes
- YouTube
Tropes that apply to me
- Berserk Button:
- I wince a bit when I hear someone pronouncing a foreign word wrong, but what can really set me off is misinformed people claiming that that is how you're supposed to pronounce it.
- People taking an obvious joke seriously.
- Deadpan Snarker: I'm usually like this when describing myself on the Internet or when having conversations with my family.
- Foreign Cuss Word: I can swear like a sailor in English, but I almost never use strong swear words in my mother tongue. I usually substitute them with the English equivalents instead.
- Grammar Nazi: Not that I'm immune to bad grammar myself, but I am a little more mindful of it than most other people on the Internet.
- No Pronunciation Guide: I almost always make sure to pronounce foreign words correctly. This also applies to words I used to mispronounce for years.
- The Quiet One: I generally don't have much to talk about, since I prefer to be by myself a good chunk of the time. Unless I'm having a conversation about a topic that I'm passionate about, then I can keep it going for a long time.
Pet Peeve Tropes
- A-Cup Angst: I am a fan of small/flat chests, so it annoys me when females are treated like butt-monkeys when compared to the more well-endowed ones. I like big breasts to some extent (depends on the body type), but I feel they get way more attention than they deserve. Also, I hate the phrase "flat as a washboard".
- Double Standard: Pretty much any work that treats one gender unfavourably over another gets a score deducted in my book.
- Only Six Faces: As much as I like the artwork of certain artists like Toriyama and Araki, I feel they're squandering their artistic talents a little bit because 90% of their characters look the same. It kind of pulls me out of the story when I realise the protagonist, the villain and the supporting cast are all derived from a template the artist relies too much on.
- Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Yes, rape is a horrible crime and anyone who commits such an act should be sent to prison, but I don't see how it makes murderers better in comparison. Having said murderers voice their disgust at rapists just becomes a ham-fisted attempt at making them more likable.
Favourite Tropes
- Amazonian Beauty
- Animation Bump: Watching elaborate fight choreographies, lifelike character acting and attention to small details is like ecstasy to my eyes. I could spend hours watching clips on Sakugabooru.
- Badass Adorable: I like characters who are about as cool as they are huggable.
- Badass Normal: Watching a normal guy going toe-to-toe against a superpowered foe is an entertaining watch.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Everyone has a limit, even the most patient Nice Guy that's ever lived.
- Cast of Snowflakes: I love this trope because it highlights each character's unique identity and describes their personalities and backgrounds more easily. I try to employ this trope myself by making sure all my characters get their own face and body type, but there are times where I struggle to come up with a unique design.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique
- Hartman Hips: I love wide hips and thick thighs, and adding small breasts along with those makes for a killer combination.
- Petite Pride: Like I mentioned before, I feel small breasts get way less attention than they deserve, so I feel elated whenever an author shows appreciation for them through their character.
- Shown Their Work: I don't mind artistic liberties, but I learn something new from an author who's done their research.
- Superpowered Evil Side
- Statuesque Stunner
