  • The Cast Show Off:
  • Celebrity Voice Actor:
    • In the original version, Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf, Alex Borstein (of Family Guy fame) as Officer Luggins, Richard Ayoade as Professor Marmalade, and Awkwafina as Ms. Tarantula.
    • In the Latin American Spanish dub, Mr. Shark is voiced by Mexican YouTuber and content creator, Gonzok while Mr. Wolf is voiced by Colombian actor, Manolo Cardona.
    • The European Spanish dub has actor Santi Millán as Mr. Shark, Pedro Alonso of Money Heist fame as Mr. Snake, comedian Joaquín Reyes as Prof. Marmalade, and sports journalist Sara Carbonero as Tiffany Fluffit.
    • The Japanese dub is basically cast with celebrities; Mr. Wolf is voiced by Kabuki actor Matsuya Onoe, Mr. Snake by TV actor Ken Yasuda, better known for voicing Yu Nanba in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ms. Tarantula by TV actress First Summer Uika, Jack by the comedian Shohei Osada, Mister Piranha by the singer Fumito Kawai from the boy band A.B.C-Z and Tiffany Fluffit by the former Fuji TV announcer Maasa Takahashi. The only professional voice actors voicing leading roles are Yuko Kaida as Diane Foxington, Kimiko Saito as Misty Luggins, Kappei Yamaguchi as Professor Marmalade and Hisako Kyoda as the old lady.
  • Content Leak: The contents of the Blu-ray, including the Maraschino Ruby short and deleted scenes, were leaked online in late May 2022, a month prior to the official release.

  • Inspiration for the Work:
  • Kids' Meal Toy: Carl's Jr. and Hardee's had a set of activity sheets in March 2022.
  • Late Export for You: Its Japan theatrical release date is October 7, 2022, nearly four months after the film was released on Blu-ray in North America.
  • Novelization First: The novel based on the film was released nearly two months before the film itself. Because the novel comes from an earlier draft of the film, some dialog and scenes are slightly different from the film. Notably, the Love Crater Meteorite is described as glowing pink, which was before the film's color coding was finalized and the glow was changed to blue.
  • Newbie Boom: The DreamWorks movie trailer brought more attention to the book series, and in fact many were unaware that it was a book series to start with.
  • Playing Against Type:
    • In the Japanese dub, and while not the first time he had voiced villains, this is one of the few times we hear Kappei Yamaguchi, as Professor Marmalade, to voice the Big Bad of the story, rather than the hero or at least one of the main villain's goons.
    • In the Italian dub, Daniela Calò, who usually plays reasonable, gentle mother/friend figures, plays the gruff, aggressive Misty Luggins.
  • Release Date Change:
    • The movie was slated for September 17, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was eventually moved to April 15, 2022. It was then moved a week later, leaving April 22, 2022 as its final date.
    • Just before its planned release date of March 24, 2022 in that country, Universal Pictures joined an economic boycott of Russia, leading to the releases of all Universal films, including The Bad Guys, being delayed indefinitely there.
  • Short Run in Peru: The film was released in much of the world, including Israel and the Dominican Republic, on March 16, 2022. Australia got the film later on March 31 in the same year. The UK/Ireland officially got a release in April 1, though some theatres got an earlier release in March 26.
  • Sleeper Hit: While the film started to attract a large number of viewers pre-release, it's popularity practically exploded to new heights once it finally hit theaters, breaking the box office and restoring fans' opinions on Dreamworks as a whole. Even to this day there is still fanart of the characters.
  • Staff-Created Fan Work: ChibeTTo worked on the film as a supervising animator and character designer, responsible for notable chase and action sequences featured in the final film. They also drew a character sketch sheet about a What If character for fun: Mr. Wolf and Diane's spunky teenaged daughter.
